Still using my Honor Play as my daily driver. I received EMUI 9.1 OTA the other day and it still performs well. It will most likely get Android 10 at some point in the near future too.

What makes this better than the note 7?

They are quite comparable, but I'd say the processor in this is better than the note 7 for longevity, and so that makes this a better buy in my opinion.
Honor Play also has NFC which is missing on the Redmi Note 7.

Good deal but not in stock in any Argos shop according to their mobile website.
Bought.

Hot.

Kindest regards

Great device. I'm aware as my son has one that it doesn't have AR on it but does anyone have knowledge as to whether it can be downloaded & installed? For say H.Potter Wizards Unite etc.

Great phone, big screen but doesn't feel big in hand with screen aspect ratio, fast, best battery I've had. Plays games very well and for a long time without using much battery and doesn't get hot in the hands doing so. The camera is okay but if you like taking lots of photos with your phone maybe something else will be better. I've had this phone for 10 months now with zero issues. Most definitely I would recommend it at this amazing price.

Not in stock anywhere in Bristol area
I recently got hubby the honor 9 lite as a cheapy replacement for him dropping and wrecking his S8 ( ) whilst it's a great phone for the price and is perfectly adequate, I'm not very technical when it comes to phones, but he's doin me head in goin on that it is so slow as it's not 5.ghz??
I get about 300mb speed on my S9 but he only gets around 20-25.... I know my phone is much better so that's to be expected (but I look after mine ) hope you can understand my waffling, does he have a point, or should I just start divorce proceedings now?? Haha obvs only joking there but has anyone else been disappointed by performance?
Great deal. I picked up the Honor 8x from Argos for 159 and it's brilliant. These Honor phones have excellent battery life and great screen size for the price. This or the 8x and this one sometimes comes packaged with the controller. Great deal.

I presume he means WiFi band. 5ghz is only faster if not many others use it in your vicinity. It offers up more speed/throughput but is unlikely to improve any experience he has in terms of Internet connection speed. I doubt he's running anything on his phone that needs more than regular 2.4Ghz WiFi could handle and if he is I'd love to know what! WiFi is only as fast as your Internet connection and less so the further away you get from your access point or if there's loads of wireless networks and Bluetooth devices around you.
Can anyone help please? I am after a first phone for my son. I need something that can play all that crap arcade games (packed with unbelievable amount of ads) which apparently are so popular among school kids and that's it. And of course capable of receiving and making calls to mum and dad when in trouble only.
Obviously must be as cheap as possible as already 2 phones had been dropped and cracked (luckily old ancient phones, given for tests).
THANKS!!!
EDIT: Is there anything viable below 100 pounds mark?

Yeah I totally understand your points there, and he's no technophobe, but his point seems to be it's very disappointing that a relatively new phone is not able to run on 5.ghz wifi?
Everyone elses phones in the house if they are 5.ghz compatible can reach speeds of almost 300mb, as our virgin is rapid, he just seems to struggle when he wants to download films "ahem legally of course" it struggles
Yeah I know this phone is much more basic I suppose than his old S8, but does it not seem like yesterday's technology to only have 2.4ghz wifi connection?
I think he's comparing his old phone too much, and its mind over matter thinking my old phone could get soooooo much faster speeds..... but with his record of wrecking phones (don't ask me how) I don't want us shelling out for a more expensive phone, as he's on a great sim only deal so not gonna take out a monthly deal just to get a new phone
Think I'm just gonna get his S8 repaired to stop him whinging!

The Honor 8x deal for around 160 on here yesterday would be a good compromise on spec/price.
How does this compare to the Samsung A40?
This or mi 9t?

It is a surprise if it doesn't have 5Ghz to be honest. I can't imagine it keeps the cost down that much. People like to know they're getting the best they can. It's a perception thing I guess.
Mr switch.

Imagine a world with no mobile phones.

I have this. Decent phone.

Unfortunately doesn't appear to be getting the next version of Android whilst the cheaper Honor 8X will.

Might be worth keeping in mind.
