Some people prefer this one for the fact that it has a Gyro etc... Also water resistant and the 16GB version, rather than the more common 8GB.

some people are talking about compass and Google maps issue. I use lots of Google maps for navigation. is it any good

Great phone, definitely prefer this to the newer 4th gen. The price however is a touch too much for my taste.

They're talking about compass issues with the latest Moto G, the G4, which IS NOT this phone..

This phone (that I have listed) DOES have a gyro built in... as well as (in this version sold by Amazon at least) the same rom and ram as the newer model.

You will not have any issues with google maps with this phone...

This is the 16GB/2GB version though (which makes it closer to the newer G4 that currently retails Sim Free around £145)...and not the more common 8GB/2GB .....so at £119.99 it's a bit of a bargain!

What is the camera like for shooting video?

Nice deal, thanks. I'm looking to upgrade my mum's moto g2 4g phone which has become far too sluggish and always low on storage.

Just trying to decide between this model or the more powerful Chinese models.

According to a number of sites that I have visited, they state that the 3rd gen does not have a gyroscope.

Good.... See GSM arena below (A well respected Independent Review site).

http://www.gsmarena.com/moto_g_3rd_gen-review-1281p7.php

Sample from the review:

"1080p video recording is finally a go

We are happy to report that 1080p video capture has finally made it to the Moto G series with the third generation. The resolution is now the default choice for the smartphone - 720p in slow motion is the other available option.

The camcorder interface is exactly the same as the still camera one. One you launch the camera, you simply tap on the key in the top right corner to begin recording.

We are pretty happy with the camcorder, as the videos are smooth and offer a pretty good level of detail and accurate colors".

Obviously GSM Arena is American......... so forgive the Spelling.... Damn Yanks thinking they know better than us Brits!!

It probably isn't, just that was likely the main size around at launch.

No idea where he has got those figures from. Like you, I see it for £159, possibly with £10 off with the code.

I applied UKCRM165 first, which took the price down to £119. Then added ukwelcome10 and the price went down to £109.01.

32GB is the maximum guaranteed size. Many phones still state 32GB but you'll probably find that all your bigger memory cards work in them too.

It's basic by modern standards but I just want to say, I have this exact model and whereas Xperia Z3 Compacts and LG G4's have broke and fell apart on me, this phone has been a sturdy cheap little reliable gem - I bought it from Amazon.fr last Black Friday ish time for around £130 and it was probably the best phone investment I've made in a decade

Won't wow you on specs but I heartedly recommend.

This or Lenovo K5?

Where do you get the info on the gyroscope? Not sure if thats a deal breaker or not though.

On the look out for a phone for my other half to replace her xperia z3 compact. She wants something less premium but good and not too big.

Was also considering the Honor 5C.

I am also on the look out to replace my LG G3. Am thinking oneplus 3 but cant decide on that either!!!

Edited by: "superdon" 25th Aug 2016

can someone explain in plain English about gyroscope please what is the big deal?

Moto G4 for £10 more on Amazon with better specs. Or you can get a refurbished LG G3 for about the same price or less on Ebay with FAR better specs.

Many thanks -

Both the 64GB and 128GB SDXC cards in the picture above work fine in the Moto G, and they're both formatted as SDXC. Phil also uses a 128GB SDXC-formatted card in his Moto G 2015. Alex, however, has a 64GB card that won't work in the Moto G, even though it works fine elsewhere. Yes, this is all anecdotal evidence, but it's all we have.

You need it to have functional VR, 360 videos and Pokemon Go.

The 16GB is read only? Sounds crappy!

If you use Google maps on foot it rotates around you... If you are looking for somewhere it points you in the right direction

Is this a good phone for the price?
