I want to buy this sim for my daughter phone that is currently with tesco mobile. Do I oder another sime from my account (I'm already with o2 and same contract) then call they to keep her old no?
    Thanks

Yes login in to your account and order another sim. When sim arrives Text LOYALTY to 21500 from your new number, within 28 days and you will get 20% off. So you will only pay £4.80 per month on your daughters sim.

Get Pac code from Tesco mobile and call O2 once sim has arrived and they will transfer her old number to O2.

All O2 sims come with roaming, so 6GB of roaming on this one

    BIG 4 -
    • EE – Born out of the merger between T-Mobile and Orange, and now owned by BT, this telecoms giant is the largest with around 32 million customers.
    • O2 – Just behind EE is O2, which is owned by Spanish telecoms company Telefonica. It has around 24 million customers.
    • Vodafone – Despite dominating the telecoms market in other countries, Vodafone is third in the UK with around 17.5 million customers.
    • Three – Owned by a Hong Kong-based conglomerate, Three is the last of the Big Four networks with approximately 9.9 million customers in the UK.
    • The above Big 4 own the slices of spectrum in UK and extend it to MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) as per below:-
      • EE: BT Mobile, Plusnet Mobile, Utility Warehouse
      • O2: Giffgaff, Sky Mobile, Tesco Mobile, Lycamobile, Virgin Mobile
      • Vodafone: Asda Mobile, Lebara, Talkmobile, Voxi
      • Three: ID Mobile, Smarty
    • Now, switch to a service provider based on your experience with a particular Big 4 and its MVNOs in your area.
    • My experience from past 2 years with :-
      • Giffgaff SIM i.e. O2 is - 4G/5G coverage is poor in South West London area - Chiswick, Richmond , Brentford and Hounslow. multiple dropping connection on every Teams meeting or WhatsApp call.
      • Lebara SIM i.e. Vodafone - 4G/5G is a bit better than O2 in the same area. at least 1 dropping connection on every Teams meeting or WhatsApp call.
    • Can't say about other areas! Haven't tried EE and Three. Would like to know if there is a coverage map i.e. a particular Big 4 has a monopoly or own mobile tower or grid in area or town.
    • Hope it helps you to decide better!

Does the new 02 contract have to be in the same name as the account holder for the Virginmedia broadband account in order to get the double data? Or do both accounts just have to be registered at the same address?

Same address - "To get your exclusive Volt benefits, your household needs to have at least one O2 Pay Monthly mobile customer and one Virgin Media broadband customer registered there."

I find it’s most city centres, I’m on the South Coast and at peak times, I can’t get a data connection in any of the cities round here. Vodafone 5G is fine.

Just spent over an hour on the phone to get switched to this deal. They weren't able to find the deal on their system so had to go with £6.99 for 6GB, but with a £1 discount so £5.99

I had this tariff previously but it's now £7.80 and O2 claim they 'can't match it'... sounds like they don't want to. And I'm questioning whether I should cancel mine, port out and then port back in to this. It's not a main line.

You most probably could upgrade to this as an existing customer, no need to call, go through the checkout and complete online. It will reset your contract length though .

Something that worked for me and may work for you - I called O2 once my contract was up and asked them whether they could match Virgin’s £5.99 5GB offer (which was the best offer a week ago). O2 offered me a 10GB (20GB with Volt) package for £6pm, 12 month contract. If you’re out of contract, it may be worth pushing for a retentions deal.
    plewis00's avatar
    plewis00
I am in this position but I tried the other day and they were not interested. I had the £6 for 6GB retentions deal from a couple of years ago and it’s been running out of contract with RPI increase now. I don’t need the data but I want to get the price back down.

Cheers MrSwitch, just upgraded from 30gb to this. I’ve got volt so had 60gb. Was paying over £13 a month. But if you don’t use the data like me then this is a very good deal. Plus free Disney again (edited)

Thoughts on paying £39 (2 months remaining on my current deal) to upgrade to this one?
    MrPigdog's avatar
    MrPigdog
If you're on O2 sim-only then you can upgrade anytime, you don't need to wait for the end of your current contract. If you're currently paying for a phone, you can pay off the phone early and go straight onto a sim-only plan.

I'm still getting 'Something went wrong' fro the page at varying points...have got all the way to signing in as an 'existing customer', before 'something went wrong' comes up.
Tried chrome and edge, both haven't worked.
Tried using ipad, and same thing happens. (edited)

When upgrading as an existing customer, I know the existing Volt benefit will be re-applied within 14 days. But how about MultiSave benefit, i.e. loyalty (have two sims)? Will it automatically applied later on, or do I need to re-apply by texting 21500 - Loyalty? (edited)

If you have Virgin Media broadband and are therefore eligible for Volt - Yes - as Volt includes the international roaming benefit - so includes the USA - we used this in New York earlier this year and it worked great - no extra charges

How do you get the double 6gb data for being a virginmedia broadband customer? Do you have to enter a code somewhere? (edited)
    AndrewWaddin-33961.57250's avatar
    AndrewWaddin-33961.57250
Phone O2 up and ask them to activate your VOLT. They will need your VM account number. You’ll get your data doubled and VM speed increased.

Just tried to do my partner's phone and got this error at checkout:

"Sorry, there’s been a problem - please try again. If this continues, give us a call and we’ll help you get your order placed. Call us on 202 free from an O2 mobile, or on 0344 809 0202 from any other number. We’re open 8am-9pm Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm Saturday and 8am-6pm Sunday."

With this URL checkout.o2.co.uk/err…wed - OrderNotAllowed

Anyone else get this or know why it wouldn't work? Her line is definitely out of commitment.
