My £23.55 contract with o2 will come to an end so I phoned up o2 and asked what they could do as I wanted to move to sim only. After quoting ID mobile tariff they (o2) offered me unltd minutes and text with 2GB data for £10pm (12 month contract). I know I could get it a little bit cheaper elsewhere but I like the o2 network and their deal on using your mobile abroad is great. I paid £14 to upgrade early but as from tomorrow I'll be on the new tariff of only £10pm. I'm still with o2 it's convenient no need to switch over. For me it's hot!!

Should be moved to misc

Switched from O2 to iD (carphone warehouse's network - I believe it uses Vodafone's network?) got 2GB data, 5000 texts and 250 minutes for £7.50 a month. Works well for me and it isn't a retention deal or contract.

It uses Three for it's network.

You should put the details in the title.

Ah yeah, cool.

Moved recently from o2 to id, after rejecting o2 retention deal - which I now seriously regret.

thanks op for the infomation. mine expires this month. i will give them a call.

Just been online and got offered same deal. Many thanks OP. Heat added

Last week EE were doing unlimited calls and texts with 4GB 4G data at £8.99 on 12 month SIM only contract. That went cold too, the folk on here don't like retention deals. I don't get it

still too expensive

i wasn't far off putting a complaint against a guy on chat live on o2 I left o2 for id as I got it for £15.50 and a p9 lite phone and I told them that's why I not renewing and they said we can offer better at £23 and upfront of £60 I laughed and said I got the phone for free and cheaper then what your after and took 30minutes till I got **** off and said **** cancel the contract why do people not take a **** big no **** me off Its like carphonewarehouse when they try get you to take insurance out and after you say 2 nos you then loose it and tell them to stop **** pesting

and they said o2 is best coverage no it isn't because I cant half the time get 3g in the country sides compare to id network

I thought this was a good deal as Tesco retention offered me 750 mins, 500 text and 6 Gig of data for £12.50.

EE offered me 16GB for 20 quid. so cold for me

I got this too have been with 02 over 10 years

If you know anyone who works in NHS (or any of the other companies on the list) you can get unlimited minutes and texts, 20gb of data and 2gb of European roaming data all for £14 on a 12 month SIM only deal. That's what I changed to 2 weeks ago when my contract ran out.

That's not bad but if you never use your data it's a waste of money.

I was with Tesco previously and moved to o2 for a decent phone deal. I'm been very happy with o2 over the past 2 years so that's why I stayed.

I'm puzzled by that but every o2 deal gets voted cold some people just don't like them.

I intentionally checked the coverage before making the move, I've been on iD for a few months now and I have no complaints. I had no complaints on O2 either, but I went from a £33 a month contract to £7.50 a month on iD which is a roll-over data plan which I can cancel at any time. O2 offered a retention deal for £10 a month (on a 12 month contract) stating they award excellent customer service - I luckily have never had to contact any mobile network as I've had no trouble but I can appreciate if the extra £2.50 a month gives you that comfort. As I say I have no experience with O2 or iD customer service (cancelling my O2 contract and getting offered a retention deal aside).

I haven't taken the time to read those negative comments, I'm sure if you were to google any network provider you'll come across some however I've been on iD for a few months and I've had no issues. The fact that there's more money in my wallet is an added bonus. As I said in reply to Canary's comment I purposefully checked whether the reception in my area was 4G etc and it is, I also work in Manchester so no issues there. It might be worth trialing as iD offer 1 month only sim contracts, if it has the potential to save you £££s in the long run there's a low risk, high reward to at least giving them a go but as I say, check coverage in your area beforehand.

ID mobile didn't do the European roaming deal that o2 do all you can eat for £1.99 per day. That's another reason.

You need to phone them up and quote a competing £10pm deal like they have at ID mobile. Then see what they can offer. After all it's cheaper than what you are paying under contract.

Also I believe NHS staff get a better discount. What I was offered isn't in the o2 website.

Oops completely misread what you wrote.

Thanks, I might try this for precisely the reasons you mentioned in your original post - No hassle to switch anything + use abroad.

Sorry, I didn't realise that I didn't put that this was with Vodafone, not O2. Not sure what the deal is now with O2, but with Vodafone it was 10% off monthly contracts or 30% off SIM only deals.
