After unable to pre-order Ni No Kuni I was wondering if the code provided would also work for other items

Use code TD-KFPW to get it for £29.99

Hot, best price I've seen for this. Kinda annoyed at the way its priced in general, but still tempted to get it.

Looks like a couple of people have voted cold, would be nice to know where they've found it cheaper...

Yeah, go figure... Ni no Kuni is basically the same "deal"

Typed this on the old deal, will try again.

Don't bother touching this for at least a week after release. They had a closed beta this weekend with a fixed number of participants, there were massive server overload problems and the game went down for 24 hours. There's a good chance the same thing will happen on release, a la Diablo 3.

It's a reasonable game, but tiny map sizes + forced always-on internet connection + no save games + DLC hell + Origin = no sale

Yep the beta was a mess and has put me off slightly, on the other hand that's the idea of a beta, to sort out stuff like this.

Ah the predictable origin cold vote.... Vote a decent deal cold so those it could benefit miss out, well done.

Certainly the best pre-order. Thanks for posting.

It's already been said, but while the beta was pretty good once it worked, the map tiles are tiny! That alone is enough to make me hold off buying it, it really isn't good enough, it completely loses the sense of building a city.

That's just talking about the game mechanics, the always online DRM has already shown it can be a complete disaster even when they're expecting traffic. As with all these always online EA games, it's going to be a horrible experience trying to play in the first week.

Beware - the single player content requires a permanent internet connection thanks to the worst DRM ever devised, and all your save games will be saved on EA servers, not your local hard disk.

EA will probably close down the servers in a few years when they're not profitable any more like they've done with many other games and you'll be left with a worthless game that you cant play any more and all your saved games will be gone. You're basically paying to rent the game until EA shut down the DRM servers.

destructoid.com/sim…tml

I hope the title screen music is good, as that's all you will be playing when the activation servers get overloaded/DDOSed.

The whole DRM system is completely counter-productive, many people who would have been willing to part with their hard earned cash will instead get the pirate version. I also hate that any games I buy from EA can't be activated on Steam where 99% of my games are stored. It's a shame because I was really looking forward to this game but I don't think I want to support this nonsense from Origin anymore.

Some good points. As for the game itself, I have some concerns but enjoyed the beta and really wanted to play more. I think the main concern I had though (aside from small city sizes) is that it didn't seem to do much extra that previous versions hadn't.

As for origin, I hate it and I love steam, but its still no reason to vote cold, its up to individuals. The whole DRM situation is such a mess, those of us who pay get so screwed over.

Seen a £24.99 preorder on the web other day so not even the best deal, even had the game been worth a ****.

not sure why everyone is hatin on this game.. if you dont like the all-online systems, dont buy it. I personally think its a great idea, especially the things that weren't in the beta, such as the global market and friend play. Voted hot from me, because it is a great deal. The servers won't be 'down for a week', they might be slow for the first 12 hours but judging by the amount of haters of this game I think the only people buying it will be me and a handful of other people!

And the fifa 08 servers are still online, so you've got at least 5 years of playing time
Edited by: "theworldofgames" 29th Jan 2013

In all honesty the servers were terrible during the beta, and it wasn't a case if being slow, you could either connect or you couldn't, plus you could get disconnected whilst playing and then you got kicked out. Hopefully its something they can sort for launch, but I understand the concern people have.

I think the worry about them switching off the servers is unnecessary, they'll be milking their customers with expensive DLC for a long time if nothing else.

Were they though? Really? I thought they were fantastic on Sunday.. It was the initial load that brought them down for about 6 hours on Saturday morning. After that there wasn't a problem with them. As long as EA take note of this and sort them out ready for release then it shouldn't be a problem again

At the end of the day, every game has release day issues. As stated on numerous blogs though, you can play simcity offline if you connect to origin. So as long as origin doesn't go down (and as far as I know it has NEVER been down) then you should be able to play the game fine even if the simcity servers go down.

Yes, really. It wasn't just Saturday morning, I tried several times in the evening, I managed to get connected eventually but was the disconnected about 20 minutes into a game.

Sure Sunday was fine, most people had finished playing, but this was probably due to games being limited to an hour. I would imagine people will want to play longer when it launches.

But hey, I'm not one of the haters. Just being realistic, and as I say hopefully they will learn from this and have it right for launch day. I didn't know you could play offline though, that's very good news.

Even if you got connected, the game's functionality screws up in really horrible ways under severe server load - manifesting itself as things like, for example, not being able to zone land and the AI thinking that all of your land is water.

Offline play has not been confirmed by any official sources (and certainly didn't work during the beta - I tried). So far the most official source is an EA Live Chat support representative, but the world would be a weird old place if we took everything that they said as gospel.

I appreciate all comments but shouldn't we focus on the price of the product? if you dont like the product it does not mean it's a bad deal

Sadly a lot of people would rather vote based on their own subjective opinions rather than price...

So you're basing the entire game on a couple of bugs that I didn't even experience and will be fixed for release? Smart. And in the developer beta as explained on YouTube, you did get offline mode and this could be played while the simcity servers were down. Remember though, you still need a internet connection to connect to origin, but once you're on the game you can play without the online features in the actual game.

Why is this so cold? The deal still works and I have just picked up a pre-order of this game for £29.99 instead the £44.99 price gouge they are demanding in Origin. That's a good £15 and ~1/3 cheaper.

Please remember this is a site for rating deals, not a games review site. The people down-voting because "It's EA" or "It's DRM" are defeating the point of the ratings system.

Quick question that's actually on topic. When do Tesco charge, when you order or on despatch? Don't think I've pre-ordered from them before.

I played the BETA all weekend in a series of 1 hour games (some saturday and some sunday). Even when the servers were down. It told me the servers were currently offline but I was still able to play so go figure...

I think the £34.99 price offered at most retailers is too high. Therefore this £29.99 price is HOT. The game will be reduced in price 1-2 months after release if you want to wait but then again it will probably be even cheaper by this time next year...everything decreases in price eventually so its silly to say that it will get cheaper.

£29.99 = HOT right now = Preorder.

Find a lower price before launch? Cancel this preorder and order it there instead! It's not rocket science.

Unless you can post a better price than £29.99 you should vote HOT or not at all.

HOT for me, ordered, i dont think you will find it cheaper and if game is **** then it will land on ebay after a week

Ah okay, thanks. Its a shame as its nice to be able to easily cancel if a better price comes along, but I can't see anything beating this. I'd quite like the extras in the digital deluxe version but thats silly money unfortunately.

Not sure why I got kicked out of the beta when I lost server connection, I wonder if its because I was still doing the tutorial and maybe that needed an active connection.

Presumably it gets tied to your origin account though?

Yes, it's tied to your Origin account (same as Steam does) so there's no resale value - another good reason to wait.

No, I had many, many forced disconnections (with all progress being lost) during ordinary gameplay too. Like so:

I'm always creating new email address and new steam/origin account for each game so I can sell it later

Good price.

Would have ordered but the coupon has expired. TD-KFPW

I pre-ordered this at the end of January and, after past experience with Tesco, found titles turned up within a day of the release date. Their site even says that they aim to get pre-orders to you by release day.

Admittedly SimCity has a rough release, but this post is about Tesco. Four days on and my game is still listed as "Sent for fulfilment" and marked as "awaiting dispatch." No effort has been made to meet the release date.

After extensive enquiry with Tesco, I was first fobbed off with a 10 working day delivery date even though the site says 8 working days is max for outlying islands. I live in London...

Later I was told that the Limited Edition had been "delayed" and that they are sending the standard edition and E-Mailed me a code to upgrade to Limited Edition which I can't redeem until I get the standard copy.

Whilst people have trouble logging into the servers, I have trouble getting hold of the game full stop from Tesco Direct.

Pretty much the same with my copy =(

Does tesco realise what's exactly the point of the pre-order?

I just cancelled in the end and refused to use them again. Even cancelling didn't work until trying again the following day.

Finally received it 1 week 4 days late. Useless. They buggered up their stock - couldn't get limited edition! Still got limited edition in the end albeit standard game + code = great price but terrible that it was so late! Luckily I was out of the country for launch and there were so many launch issues I don't think I missed out much haha.
