I agree. Unless it’s all you can afford then please support free range. But I do understand if times are tight (not judging anyone).

If you're not buying eggs from an honesty box by the roadside the chickens are still living in awful conditions. You also can pretend to be superior to those buying "free range" at the supermarket.
If price is an issue then have a look around your neighbourhood for people selling eggs from their own hens. I only buy from local people on allotments/gardens and when I put a wanted ad on facebook local for a dozen eggs a week I got around ten replies from people with half a dozen hens in their gardens who sold the spare eggs off to pay for food for the hens.

I used to have my own hens and they had real personalities. They used to sit with me at lunchtime for scraps of food and one would go up and tease the dog!
Used to cost £1, now 10% more due to brexit.
Voted hot.

As it ought to be.

This site's admins need to cull a lot of the parasitical users of this site.

Thanks, too, OP for for bringing a few of them into one place so that permanently muting them was the work of mere seconds

Don't worry they will pretend.
Chicken welfare?

I hope one day chickens can safely cross the road and get to the other side and without being judged by their motives!

Lol thanks. I am not bothered by the cold or hot. If anyone benefited from my post then I have achieved my purpose of posting. As we know hotukdeals culture can be abit on the funny side. People will sometimes vote by following the others blindly. They could vote cold now and picked up a box at Lidl. Who knows.

I’d be surprised if anyone has dashed out to stock up on these

Not necessarily, I buy my eggs from Costco which are free range and RSPCA assured, I am reasonably confident they're not living in 'awful conditions'.
'Free Range' is a bit of a con, even if approved by the RSPCA. There's 'Free Range' and then there's Free Range. Best buy from a small farmers market you trust.

don't like free range ones. The poor chickens running around in the cold weather. Caged have a cosy home
No excuse for not buying free range. I'd rather go without than enjoy food from an animal that suffered.
There’s no excuse for caged heneggs to be a thing you can still buy nowadays.
Still think its a good price??

what do local eggs caged or otherwise have to do with brexit?? and it is 9%
Same people going on about free range eggs. Wonder if the buy free range Chicken too? Probably not.
Whats worse than eating caged hen eggs is eating the chicken that laid them.

I don't think caged hens live in that condition the you have posted. Those look more like delivery cages. Now tell me where the eggs roll to when the hens lays them everyday? Are the eggs on the top cages going to drop all the way down passing through those bottom cages? Don't think so.

Seriously who stocks up on eggs.
To not mind buying caged hen eggs you have to have actually made the decision that you don't mind encouraging animals to be kept in a coffin like cage all their life if it saves you a few pence. You really do have to be some kind of a*s*h*l* to have that mentality.. or just a very low IQ I guess.
This is price they've always been I'm sure doesn't make sense to post it really...

that's adorable lol
I buy from a local supplier, it's a part time business so it's costing more for me than a supermarket free range but.. helping local business and 100% ethical.
I think people need to get off their high horse. Thinking their all green peace because they buy free range. And in reality they don’t have a clue

I don't think most people have any idea what goes on, I bought into the whole organic free range eggs thing for a long time; then someone told me about chick culling.....wow did I feel stupid that I had been so blind.
From that point onward I refused to be part of systematic animal cruelty.
