I bought a pair from them, think cost around £6. glasses arrived in reasonable time as they are made in china and come from china. the only gripe is the arms leave a blue stain on each side of my head if i wear them for too long. other than that cant fault them

If imported directly to you from overseas, as some posters state, then you may have to pay import taxes, plus Post Office collection of money charge - £8 ish I think.

I like the price of these, but we always need to be aware of all extra costs etc, not just a headline price cost, such as with cheap flights.

Not the same things, let me quote from boots

"Is the prescription the same for contact lenses and spectacles?

No. Both prescriptions are different and you will need to ask your optician to supply you with the details specifically for your contact lenses. A spectacle prescription will include the Sph, Cyl and Axis for each eye but the contact lens prescription will have the name of the lenses, the base curve, diameter and strength for the lenses.

A spectacle prescription will normally look like this:

Right: -3.00
Left: -3.25/-2.50 x 5
The contact lens prescription for the same person will look like this:

Right: 8.6/13.8 -2.75 Cibavision Focus Dailies
Left: 8.6/13.8 -3.00 Cibavision Focus Dailies"

They should keep your prescription on file for at least 2 years, they probably try to flog you another pair while your their!

lol lol lol lol....so you look like a smurf.....cheap rubbish then

im thinking about ordering, is it just going to be about £3.50 delivery for each item?
or is it going to be extra charges like?

With the quality of Chinese made goods I'd steer well clear.
Who knows what's seeping out of that metal into your head and behind your ears.

£3.50 per order - max of 2 frames per order. I got £13.50 for 2 pairs.

and maybe you could make a list of what countries make which products these days? Most stuff is made in China if you check the labels.

btw I bought a pair from these nearly a year back - as good as anything Specsavers adds a couple of noughts for.

Pretty sure they have to by law mate. I asked for my prescription today at my opticians and they gave it me no problem.

My Husband has had four pairs of glasses from them. They are brilliant. Specsaver will give you a copy of your prescription free, but you have to collect it. They will not tell you over the phone. That is what I had to do.

I remember this deal was on last time in May.....
I ordered Jacaranda Savannah which was £5 + £3.50 Delivery + VAT £0.65 = total of £8.50
Like most people have said, they were shipped overseas and if I remember it was from Hong Kong

When mine came it was cracked so I had to complain and they sent me a new pair straight away so their service was great BUT....

I still haven't worn the glasses because they are very uncomfortable, feels stronger than my current glasses when it's the same and so it's just sitting on the bottom of my draws....

Verdict: It's not worth the risk

I used this place a year or so ago, and the glasses were just fine.

pffft £70 is minimum price for my prescription...

Decent deal for most people though..

Mr "Stating the bleeding obvious."

I don't fancy wearing stuff that close where you could be at risk of all sorts.

Taken from Asia Weekly:-

"The entire country's quality inspection service needs an overhaul." The government should set up a watch-dog organization that includes independent professionals, consumer associations and industry associations, "to be constantly on guard."

And:-
The term "Made in China" is fast becoming a warning label, says syndicated columnist Frank Ching, to both home and overseas consumers.

We're all used to the recall notices posted all the time in supermarkets and newspapers connected with Chinese made products but wearing that stuff day in and day out is not something I'd do with cheap Chinese rubbish.

If syndicated columnist Frank Ching says that "Made in China" is fast becoming a warning label, then who are we to argue?

From now on, I won't buy anything that's made in China. Just because Frank Ching said so. :whistling:

+1. Most of the place call atleast 60/70 quid for pair (someplaces throw you another pair for free).
So paying 13.50 its like paying 1/5 of the high street price.

Hi

Before you go to D&A pop to their website and print off a half price eye test voucher just in case:

danda.co.uk/spr…og/

HTH

i bought two pairs in june, both were shoddy and wouldnt buy again but kept them as spares

baobab, lens wouldnt fit properly and gardenia which looked like the frame wasnt finished properly

seams a good deal

Haven't ordered from this company (yet) but I've recently ordered glasses from two other online companies, Glasses Direct and Geteyeglasses and both retailers offered a brilliant fast service and the products were up to Specsavers quality for at least a fifth of the price !
One retailer shipped from Pakistan and the other from the UK although they may well have been made abroad and shipped in.

I had no trouble getting my prescription from Specsavers after having a £10 eye test. Two important things to remember though and that is to make sure your accurate if the optician asks at what distances you use the glasses.

The other measurement it is pretty important to get is the PD (Pulmonary Distance) measurement. This helps ensure that you get the right fit on your glasses. It is NOT always written or printed on the prescription. My optician wrote the measurement on for me with no problem.

Lastly most of the better online opticians offer all sorts of help in choosing your specs even down to free or nominal charge home trials and also a facility for uploading a photo of yourself and trying on the glasses in a "virtual" state.

Hope that helps.

Mine took 4 weeks to arrive, but were despatched within a week - think the post strikes are affecting delivery times.
I orderered Baobob and they are fine for £8.50!!
Ordered some more yesterday.....

how do you measure your pupil distance at home or will the opticians tell you this if you ask for a copy of your perscription?

I have just had an offer come in the post from tesco for a free eye test.
Anyone tried them before?

I've bought from them before, and they are fine. OK, the frames are nto the same quality as £99 ones, but fine for the price. I bought two pairs, a spare pair for in the car, and a spare pair for keeping at work for when I forget to take my usual pair.

Good deal, great for a spare pair, ordered some.
