what if you have a John Lewis gift card and no spare cash and really need a rice steamer?
are these really that good...a lot of the reviews on Amazon seem to mean its a bit hit and missing cooking Basmati rice (which obviously is what we eat...hahaha)....really tempted though as it would be a lot easier than digging out our electric rice cooker when just cooking for a few of us.

Any comments would be great....

microwave cooking in plastic container is hazardous to health.
What happened to pots and pans? Its bpa free but certainly not radiation free. Wouldn't advice it at all.

Microwave might be bad idea

pretty sure that nearly a lot of people all over the world are cheating food in a microwave using BPA free plastic tbs and containers....there doesn't seem to be any conclusive evidence that containers MEANT to be used in the microwave are doing any harm to us.

But way to go on the scaremongering

Only if you're using crap plastic with BPA in and even then take extremely unlikely to leach enough into your food to affect you

Calm down! No one said not to use microwaves for easy fix now and then. But not to cook rice! Blimey! where is all that anger coming from? Seriously! Cant we even put our opinions anymore, without people like you getting all defensive? Take a chill pill and relax...
I couldn't cook decent rice without this, so much easier and quicker then on the hob in a pan.......Just pop your rice in and fill with water the the first knuckle on your finger with your finger tip touching top of the rice, cook for 9 mins, leave to stand for 1, jobs a good un also gud for those golden veg packet rice etc.

Go for it... Used ours again tonight. Brilliant bit of kit, less messy than the Pyrex bowl we used previously, as this never boils over :-) the instructions are a bit rubbish, but after a some trial and error with your microwave it'll be great. The real systema product claims to be bpa free
I bought one of these recently. It does a great job. Only £6 at Asda m.direct.asda.com/geo…tml
