Get 20% off any Starter Kit from December 11th until 31st. I've been using mine for some time now and have found it lives up to the promises - considered Nest and Hive but some of the features tado offered were not available on those devices at the time... Thoroughly happy with my set up and recommend tado for anyone looking to add to their smart home set up.

Wish they would drop the price of the single radiator valves.

Been looking for this to drop. Great to create multizones using the TVRs which sadly nest can't do without additional nests
Edited by: "maxamus007" 23rd Nov

Hey I thought nest couldn't do multizones using tvrs, but I came across these and they work with the nest thermostat.

If you're looking at the rental option, the starter kits are already "discounted" from the normal rental prices.

The reviews in screwfix show the other ones in the link you shared are not that reliable. The Tado seems to good as far as I have gathered from friends.

It's a great bit of kit and the guys at tado are constantly developing the app. I've been really pleased with it so far... no real requirement for their AC products here in the UK though. I emailed them asking them to introduce smart sockets/ plugs to their roadmap too... hopefully they'll expand out from heating into other technologies.

Works with Apple Homekit too.

Had Tado for nearly 12 months now, very impressed wit hease of use and the app is good too.

I started off with rental to see whether it all stacked up... and it did. I decided to buy after 12 months and they discounted the previous years rental payments from the purchase price. I installed the thermostat and extension kit (replacing the programmable Honeywell jobby) in about an hour tops.

I'd agree. Had mine in since February 2015 and it's been rock solid for the most part - there have been a couple of times where their servers went down over that time... which means I lost control (so geofencing didn't work & couldn't control the thermostat) however, in those instances tado defaults to a pre-set temperature so you're not left in the cold.

Is there a direct link? Hukd app just redirects me to HUKD homepage...

It's function relies on servers at Tado?! That's a bit crazy isn't it? Surely it could be designed to be self-contained within your home and not require external servers to work.

Anybody know if this is discount for buying inky or for renting as well? Ta

Much like Amazon Alexa, Siri, many home security services and other cloud based devices, this does connect back to external servers to function. I see that as a plus though given the company providing the service (if done correctly) will have invested in redundancy, DR and a suite of management and monitoring systems. They’ll have teams, technicians and engineers supporting it and ongoing financial investment to keep it all running. If I were to host such a system at home, I’d be entirely dependent on that device, my broadband service and maintenance.

25% off on Amazon NOW

It seems good but so much more expensive comared to nest... Starter kit plus extension kit more than nest.... TRVs seperate but nest doesn't have that option..

Does anyone know how to get the deal? It looks like the regular price to me when I click the link?

Thanks all,

Gordon.

If you have the extension kit then you can manually control the boiler if it doesn't receive a temperature signal for 30mins or more.

For price comparison purposes, the starter kit is £199 on the Tado website so will be ~£160 when this discount is live. It was briefly £150 on Amazon over the Black Friday weekend, but the £160 may well be the best price when the discount goes live.

I wonder if the referral system will work in conjunction with 20% off? If not, I think I'll get V2 from Amazon for £129 (current price). I don't need homekit which I believe is the only difference between v2 and v3.

Can't follow what you mean - can you point me to the good/more reliable ones rather than getting the poor version. Thanks

Correct - I had V2 but recently changed to the V3 bridge for HomeKit integration... and.... there's no reason to do that at all. I figured it'd be worth doing, but isn't given HomeKit is pretty crap. I either use Alexa to control the heating, or I go directly through tado app. I have Hue in most rooms and Alexa in most rooms so lighting and heating is taken care of by Alexa. So until Apple release HomePod, HomeKit is pretty redundant for me.

Gutted that I missed the recent BT Shop offer on the TRV's for £49

Highly recommend Tado. I like the minimalist look of the thermostat. Works great with Google Home.

I recently came across this on Kickstarter. The idea of having most rooms controllable appeals to me but the price of doing so is eye watering. This is being backed by E-on so it should have a high chance of being released.

Interesting - I love new tech, thanks for the share :). But, tado have smart TRV's already (£59 each) and the only thing that appealed to me from the Novo pitch was the fact 'you never have to change batteries'. The rest of it seems comparable with the tado gear. I've not yet got round to installing the tado TRV's partly owing to cost. For it to work to full potential I'd need 9 of them.

So the fact they're the equivalent of £23.33 ea (for a £140 pledge) instead of £59 each doesn't appeal?
Edited by: "Sponge" 11th Dec

Been waiting for Tado to drop in price again, I missed the £149 offer on Amazon and also the £80 Maplin offer for v2 on here a few weeks ago.

Hoping Amazon run another offer soon, otherwise I'll get these via this offer. Maybe even the rental option for one kit (also 20% reduced for first year).

TRVs have been as low as £35 or so, doubt they'll go as low as that again for a while. Hopefully they drop to £49 or so, it'll make a nice saving for covering all 6 that I need.

What was your experience with Honeywell. Iwas looking at installing the evohome multizone.....

No. Beause, I already have a tado setup and as I said, the only thing that appealed to me from the Novo pitch was the fact 'you never have to change batteries.... which isn't enough of a sell for me to rip everythin out and start over.
The fact they're £23.33 each is irrelevant really - I've already invested in one system which works well... and I intend to extend that you the tado TRV's in time... The cost is secondary to be honest.

I had the standard, non-smart programmable Honeywell @noneames - I don't have experience of the evohome stuff... but personally, I would recommend tado having had it in for a couple of years now. Good kit.

I didn't need the extender for my system so can't comment on that. But worth noting that most people install Tado themselves. Whilst nest recommend an installer (at extra cost). Without extender the Tado was very easy to install. About as hard as wiring a plug!
