Never used to be hip.

Why do Skoda's have heated rear screens? To warm up the hands of the person pushing the car.

You could have an Octavia for this sort of money per month

Yes, but Octavia doesn't sound like lady parts....

How much are these I would of expected you'd be able to buy a year old one under 15k miles for this kind of money

With the Octavia you would have to stump up a substantial deposit (over £4k + dealers £2k5 on the site I checked), and the final payment would be a LOT higher (over £7k); with this the "deposit" is almost entirely paid by the garage, you pay £176, and the final payment is relatively peanuts.

Also depreciation on the mid sized cars is always higher than on the small sized cars.

Downsides are not 0%, and the dealer has plumped up the OTR price by about £400.

Or you could just go PCH and take this deal posted a couple of weeks ago:

hotukdeals.com/dea…891

They offer a 1+23 at roughly £168 a month. It's cheaper per year than this Fabia, and you aren't left with a year without warranty either.

You can get the ointment for that but only until Brexit.

Interesting, but none of the numbers add up. They talk about a £2k +VAT deposit, but later say "OR NO INITIAL 8k (1+23): £139.99 + VAT", suggesting the deposit is £8k.
Also no mention of the final payment, and there is very little information on the website about exactly what you have to pay, what you are paying for or interest rates.

it all sounds a bit Ryan Air to me.

What?!

There's different options. You can pay 2k + vat upfront and then £49 a month + vat OR £139 + vat upfront and same per month. Prices are quoted without vat as some will lease purely for business and not pay vat. Personal lease just add the vat.

There is no final payment or interest rate, it's a lease. You pay X amount per month and have the car for X duration. You hand it back at the end and go your separate ways. Much like a PCP if you don't pay the balloon at the end.

I'm not a big fan of leasing myself, but I can't see how a Fabia on PCP at £177 a month over 4 years works out a better option than a better Octavia at £168 a month over 2.

I repeat, as the offer is WRITTEN, it mentions £8K BEFORE mentioning alternative payment plans, so either there is a massive typo, or the advert is deliberately misleading.

£2K + £49pm dosnt add up when they give the same deposit + 3 times higher monthly payments for exactly the same car over exactly the same contract length. It equals just over £4k over 4 years - which is nonsense, as the car is going to depreciate by more than that in the first year.

I think the 8k is the annual mileage allowance no? A lot of Octavia 1.0l se lease deals have come up recently for around £4K total over 2 years.

"OR NO INITIAL 8k (1+23): £139.99 + VAT", is a direct quote; now it doesnt have a "£" symbol, but in the context as written it suggests there should be. It IS a badly written description in several areas, and not something that inspires trust.

I looked at a few other deals sites, the comparable price and deposit is for 24 month contracts; not 48 month. Even going to 36 months triples the monthly payment on the Octavia deals I can see - except one, where they cannot even get the engine size right, so I dont trust it.
