1 litre petrol... A bit under powered for such a big car.

It's not the size that matters. It's the power it produces.

It's a lease, not something you'll have to worry about.

All of the engines are underpowered for this car. Doesnt matter which one you pick.

It's probably not too bad if you thrash it - it has 200Nm of torque - but then if you do it probably halves the MPG.

Yeah, even the vRS 245 only has 242bhp and 370 Nm of torque.

All manufacturers are going down the GDI petrol tech route (turbocharged tiny engine)

The manufacturers benefit more than the consumers by this method though.
And 10+ years down the line it will become public knowledge that GDI engine tech is a horrendously polluting technology.
(but everyone is distracted by the anti-diesel campaigns at the moment to notice)

Nor a chauffeur or someone piping you aboard every time you go out for a drive........

Hope people aren't expecting something like that Race Blue VRS in the image. Not a dig at OP - the lease company have this image on their webpage. Just a bit misleading for those not familiar with the Octavia range.

Initial payment £2400 admin fee £239.99 so works out at £209 a month for 24 months so more than double the headline price. Slightly misleading!

The cubic capacity of an engine is just a proxy for the power it produces. So a 1 litre engine isn't innately less powerful than a 2 litre one, the technology used can make up the difference. This isn't a new thing, cars like the Golf GTi when it first came out surprised people that it could give what was considered sports car performance with a 1.6/1.8 litre engine - it's all in the engineering, not just the size.

Voted hot on the deal. Was just joining the discussion about if these high powered small capacity engines are any good. Seems like putting a huge turbo on an engine the size of a sewing machine in a large car will not = long life.

Probably true about the life. I have an Audi A4 1.4TFSI on lease and I was stunned by how powerful it is (150bhp).

The £104 quoted is the monthly payment not the total over the lease period

Wouldn't mind buying one outright if anyone knows any good deals giving 20% off etc

i was thinking looks stunning from the pic.
but then googled the model and ..lol

The car in the image above is also the pre-facelift model with the old headlights. All new Octavia's come with the controversial split headlights, including the sportier models.

Its a pretty good deal for this model, but if you want to lease there are better choices if the total spend is you priority rather than a specific model.
If I was in the market for a petrol hatch then I would go for something life this deal

Seat Leon 1.2 TSI SE Dynamic Technology 5dr

£118.67 a month 8K per year / 2 years

A 24 + 23 payment schedule, never seen a lease with such a high upfront cost. 9 + 23 is the usual max.

Yup, the Pre-facelift is much easier on the eye from the front!
