Am i being stupid? Where is the deal? I can't see it?

links not working for me

Great engineering, the Czechs should be proud!! HOT

Believe me, they are! And they're particularly proud of the fact that the quality of their cars is higher than the VWs produced directly by their parent company.

Seams a good deal. 3 times the cost of an iPhone contract for a whole car.

Were saying Feb/March delivery a few weeks back so likely later now. Good price though.

No good for us C4 drivers then

Just taken delivery from an order in May but at £99 a month. Same spec.

Was that deal from the same website? I'm interested in jumping onto a lease deal for the first time at these prices.

When lease up,do you have to pay off the balance or can you just give it back with no monies owing

you don't have an option to buy at the end of a lease deal.

It's totally different to the PCP deals that dealers will try to sell you under the guise of personal lease purchases - you're effectively just renting the car, hand it back at the end with nothing to pay (unless of course there's any damage or excess mileage). The 'deposit' you pay upfront is non-refundable, it's part of the cost, so always factor that in when calculating the total price. You'll often see ridiculously low monthly payments but with £2-3000 down in advance which can work out loads more expensive.

Excellent price and few lease deals have a no deposit contract.

A pity the delivery date will be March'17 or later.

LOL. I think that puts the whole 'are Apple products ridiculously overpriced' argument into true perspective. Brilliant post.

Are you querying the delivery time or the cost? Delivery time is about normal as all VAG vehicles built to order have such a delay time. I think they do it to help maintain 2nd hand prices.

For the price, here is the amazing deal. HUKD Yeti. Unfortunately I missed it. It did require a higher deposit though.

Was that the date they gave you when you placed the order. Or did they deliver earlier/later then expected?
Mine was ordered 5 weeks ago and the date is down as mid-December.

It was the cost, excellent cheers. Pity I missed that one!

shame it's dsg. could get better mpg from a manual box

Actually you wouldn't, the DSG gearbox is more efficient than a manual and will return slightly better mpg and performance.

But after two years with the phone you own it. With a lease the car goes back and you need alternative transport - you have no asset. Not saying leasing is bad, I've done it myself, just pointing out that this isn't the same as described.

Not strictly correct. A £600 iphone will only be worth about £150 after two years - so not much of an asset.

Our Yeti arrived this morning. It's a great drive. I think we pay £1 per month more and £6 more deposit but did not have to pay the £240 as we went direct to the dealer via contract hire and leasing. 2 years in this Yeti for £3k is a great deal. Metallic paint was free too!

have the 2ltr diesel in this and it's a cracking car

You need to work on your definition of "strictly correct" because what I've said IS strictly correct. 25% value is an asset no matter which way you look at it. Also some simple maths for you: 25% > 0%.
Edited by: "tonyyeb" 12th Oct 2016

You need to work on your maths and your understanding if the English language. The lease of the Yeti is still about 3 times the cost of an iphone even when you deduct your 'asset' amortised over 24 months. Like I said £150 is not much of an asset. I didn't say it was zero asset.

Original Poster

Dear fellow HUKD members please note I posted this thread to highlight the Skoda Yeti offer not to discuss the iphone or its status as a possible asset.

Please play nicely…..

I think you'll find your original statement was:

"3 times the cost of an iPhone contract for a whole car"

I said that wasn't the same because with the iPhone you'd still own it and regardless of what value it has, anything >0% is better than 0% (which is what you'd have at the end of a lease agreement - the point I was making in my previous post).

You then said that wasn't "strictly correct". Tell me please what was not "strictly correct" about what I'd said. You may not have said it wasn't "zero asset" but you are saying that my statement isn't right. So just so I can work on my understanding of the English language please can you explain what was incorrect about this post:

"But after two years with the phone you own it. With a lease the car goes back and you need alternative transport - you have no asset. Not saying leasing is bad, I've done it myself, just pointing out that this isn't the same as described."

Try Simpsons Skoda.

If anyone comes across any similar (or better!) yeti deals, please post.
I looked at Simpsons but a 24 month lease deal was coming in around £180 a month........
