You need Sky Entertainment Extra+ (Sky Entertainment Extra with HD)

brilliant just done our's we have hd channels and yep sure enough free 3d channel for anyone with hd pack or entertainment extra plus

I just have sky Entertainment not Extra. I got the 3d Channel free

Finally, Sky offering something for free which is just a passing fad no body wanted to pay extra for. Well glad i don't have Sky anymore.

I wonder how this works and blocks content. I have movies but not sport, so can't watch 3D movies, but the 3D channel is just one channel. I suppose it will work like the adult channels with the free preview and the encrypted bits. There will just be two forms of encryption on the channel now instead of one.

How exactly is something at has been with us now since 2005/2006 a "passing fad"?

I agree I don't want to pay extra for 3D versions of content I already pay for, but still 3D is sticking around for a long time to come so you had better get used to being wrong about it being a fad. It's certainly a novelty, and not something I use every day, but I'm glad I have the feature for when I want to use it.

I have entertainment and movies but I can't watch sky3d movies just the crappy program's I have zero interest in

Thanks for this. I was told in March that I would get it, then I spent 35 mins with customer services saying it would cost me £5 more and 'sorry you were told wrongly and paid for HD but you can't have it'. Just followed instructions and I now have it with no further charge. Thanks!

surely you need a 3D tv too !?

As usual with most Sky stuff, free if you already spend a billion pounds.

Anything deemed as premium you will need to pay for, SBO. You need relevant packages to view related content and yep a 3D tv.

Good for wildlife fans they have some decent docu's showing on there.

@whizzkid yes a 3d tv is obviously required! lol

Got it, thanks.

I read somewhere this had been put back until the 21/22 April and for once the rumours were correct..thanks op!

Thanks OP, I've just added it to my roster. My wife and I should get more use out of our 3D glasses now ;). Have some heat.

No thanks would rather stick to my Freeview HD +. Don't see the point in paying £30-£70 to watch old repeated crap day in day out. Gotta love those Sky Movies too lol, same movies every single day and most of them from 1990. How many times can you watch The Amazing Spiderman?

I don't have 3d on my TV AND I'm about to cancel sky TV but have some heat from me.
In the words of Ron Burgandy "That is good news!"

Thanks for alerting this!

See the trolls are out in force.

Are we voting on the deal or using the OP to have a pop at SKY

Voted hot.

Of course it’s a passing fad (again), companies have been trying to shove 3D down our throat’s every 10 years since the mid 1950’s with the green and red glass but it has never taken off and become main stream like the way high def has.

3D has been on the decline over the past 3 years since its revival in 2005/2006. You don’t see TV manufactures advertising their 3D capabilities anymore like they use to. Now is all Smart TV stuff, 3D now a standard add-on in the background if it worth putting in.

Even Nintendo had to remarket the Nintendo 3DS a year after its release and stop mentioning about glasses less 3D, they later admitted they got it wrong and 3D didnt take off as much as they thought it would. This is also the reason why the Wii U doesn’t support 3D through its hardware.

If 3D was that popular or any good then why would Sky be doing this offer?? It would make more sense to drop the extra £10 a month HD subscription for its customers and keep Sky 3D as it or reduce its 3D subscription prices. Don’t be surprised if in 2 to 3 years time Sky announces they are discounting their Sky 3D services due to lack of demand.

Thanks, got Sky HD and a new 3D TV so added this is my Sky package for free and all good!

Am i right in that although im a HD Subscriber, i wont get 3D sports because im not subscribed to the Sports Package but will get 3D Movies because im subscribed to Movies pack?

No you have to have sports and movies to get movies in 3d, even if you subscribe to movies which I don't personally think is right

OK, I am signed for entertainment extra plus. I've just added the 3D to my package and the order has been put through. Currently Ford Super Sunday is on and I am receiving the "call the broadcaster" info bar. I take it that because I don't have the sports package I can't watch anything from the sports channels, and also as I don't have the sports I can neither watch the films that I pay for in 3D?

All in all then, I now have the ability to watch 3D documentaries?

Thanks just added to my sky account and my dad's sky account. I will get the glasses on and get watching (_;)

Your joking is that how it works? So even though I have now got the 3D channel switched on i will still not be able to watch any film on it??

Yes, from what I can see at the moment. At 6pm there is a programme called Super Systems, if I am right, I should be able to watch this for "free". As for the Man United game later tonight, I would believe that I won't be able to view this as I don't have a sports package. The next actual film isn't on till 10pm Tuesday night, which is the Hobbit, but is pay per view. So the next film after that should be free isn't on till Friday at 6:30pm which is Mars Needs Moms. This should be free if you are paying for the film package, but if I'm reading into this properly, you still wont be able to view it unless you add the sports package to your bundle.

Basically the only thing they have done here is given you the ability to view short clips and older documentaries.

ive added this as i already pay for movies so looking forward to watching some good 3d movies but can anyone confirm if i can watch the 3d sport or will i need to buy the sports channesl to watch 3d sport?

Keith, as far as I am aware, you still won't be able to watch the films in 3D even though you have the film package. You still need to subscribe to sports to get the films in 3D. Even the Super Sunday stuff isn't available without the sports package.

For some reason I thought this was free already?

I don't have a 3D TV though so I never needed it.

If claiming for the free Sky 3D to current subscription, does that mean a new 12 months contract with Sky again?
Cheers

YAY Done

Yip now got it going, Take we will only get progs now and again.
Though the Sony Bravia would detect it but no you have to swap to 3D side by side.
Just watched part of Super Systems and set to record to see how much space it takes up.

Call me dull.....do u need a 3d tv?

Not so, their website states:

Discover the excitement of the cinema at home with 3D movies when you also add Sky Movies and the HD Pack
Get the best seat in the house with live sporting events in 3D - when you also add Sky Sports and the HD Pack

They are separate. If you have Sky Movies, you can see the 3D movies.

I had actually emailed sky 2-3 weeks ago as I had just bought a new 3dtv, I thought that it would be a free channel as long as you were a HD subscriber. I even asked if i could get it without buying the sports package as I was paying for the film channels but they still said no. Its somewhat of a turnaround a few weeks later, but at the end of the day you still need to buy the full sports package to watch films and sports in 3D.
