I found the speed where i live is max 10mb which to me is a joke, the upload speed is lucky to get 0.35mbs.If you are elderly or don't use the internet apart from reading emails then crack on however if you actually USE it then don't waste your money on this terrible speed, yes it's cheap but not usable and will turn out like me upgrading the speed making this all pointless!!

You criticising the service when it's the fault of where you live? Amazing logic right there.

The broadband speed depends on where you live. I used them for the last 2 years and it was fine. Used it on netflix YouTube and others across multiple devices. No noticeable lag on streaming but may not be suitable for online game which requires low latency.

Try having 4mb as the fastest speed you can get from any provider... You will have been told estimate speeds and a minimum speed when you signed up. If 10mb is slower than your minimum, complain to Sky.

Stop being tight and get fibre. Otherwise stop moaning about speeds as this will be your speed on broadband regardless of provider

I'm with everyone else on this. I have sky and as the exchange is a stone's throw away my speeds are great. My only gripe would be the router, my Wi-Fi signal doesn't stretch far enough for my liking.
My usual speed with Sky is about 19mb. Been with them for a few years now and the reliability is very good.Use it for Now TV, IPTV, I player etc without issue

Currently get it free with the landline, but I'm sure there are people on better deals than I'm on. I would definitely recommend it but can't vouch for it if you're a gamer as I've not tried it in that manner

They gave me a wifi booster FOC a couple of years back but I have never used it as my signal strength is OK. You could ask whether they still do those if its an issue for you?

I completely agree with you. I get speeds of 8mb and that's only after complaining. It really is a poor service.
I get 18/19mb speeds from sky and their service has been excellent, unlike talktalk who I was with before, their max speed was 15/16mb and their service was appalling
Im in a city centre and getting 9mb. Was getting 13mb with bt as recently as November 17.

But Sky is costing me circa £7 pm after freebies against bt's £26 pm so im cool with that.

Think yourself lucky ! i'm in central London and only get at best 5mb ! doesn't matter which provider i'm with its still maxed out at 5mb because of my location ( until fiber turns up, which at the moment they have no plans on doing in my area )

I was getting 17mb and 1mb upload on previous broadband so yes it is the provider sky say it's an estimate and they won't do anything about it. 17mb is for people who don't use the internet for it's purpose. Thanks for the comment NORM!

Why wouldn't elderly people need a faster speed?

Less of the ageism please. Elderly people are more likely to have spare time to watch Netflix YouTube and play games

Omg you are embarrassing yourself. I'm on here because I can save money regardless of how much money I have. If I'm unhappy with something I'll upgrade instead of crying about it on here

I'm coming to the end of BT Infinity contract, and will be going back to this deal for slower ADSL. Although 50Mb/s fibre is great for downloading torrents, I haven't found it any quicker for web surfing at all. I'm still waiting for pages to load. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I thought pages would load instantly. Speedtest shows I'm getting full speed, so maybe I should change my DNS server or whatever. CBA, TBH.
I'm with Sky now and my contract finishes 15th March. Is there any way I could get this deal without getting charged for changing my current broadband and landline contract?

Same here, mine is up in march, took advantage last year of a mse offer, only paying £9.95/mth.
Apparently sky are not very existing customer oriented so wondered if I can just take this out going through tcb and stay with them.

Edit.. apparently not just looked on tcb and it says only for customers who haven't been with sky in the last 12mths.

I'm with you on this one. Left sky to go to Virgin fibre 50mb and you are right - web pages don't seem to load any quicker with fibre broadband, probably cos I'm using an ancient iPhone 4 for wifi and even more modern Lenovo tablet is no quicker for wifi.

Sky wasn't great for loyalty in my experience. Wanted to change to fibre from Adsl and wouldn't budge on a discount and would only offer me a £5 discount on Adsl, hence leaving for Virgin fibre for less money.
£7.17 monthly equivelant, can't go wrong with that....

Erm I Netflix 4K on Sky with 14-16MB, ADSL2 is upto 24MB, 17MB is the average a % if it’s customers get (thank Ofcom for that ADSL2+ product description) and Sky gives me the full 24MB for 4K, rarely does 4K buffer, I’m less than a mile from my exchange. So I use everything and more ADSL2+ was designed for, then some more - 4K video.

Yeah the infrastructure that sky uses is what BT have provided and locations determines your speed it's the luck of the draw I'm paying £10 month unlimited and I'm I'm gettng at 23MB then again I can virtually see the exchange.
I want to know if existing customers can get this £18 deal with LR or is it just for new people as usual rather than people who have been with them for over a decade.
Looks like you have to add Sky TV to your order to get the £50 prepaid card....

LLU (Sky equipment in exchange) Sky is not available in every exchange, Sky Fibre is the BT Wholesale of BT Infinity Fibre so that’s why it’s only offering you Sky Fibre.

availability.samknows.com/bro…rch is handy for future reference what’s available on your BT exchange.
To all those unhappy with their speed, I have a question - Have any of you changed providers but taken the same level of service, and seen an improvement in your speed? So switched from Sky to TalkTalk/BT/anyone else for their broadband services only (not fibre) and noticed one provider was better than the other?
Just tried signing up as new customer but keeps asking me for new line install even though existing line is already Sky landline.

Sky is LLU, Sky Fibre is BT Wholesale, TT LLU is miserable, my speed was 6-8MB but my line can handle 24MB without Fibre, BT (non Fibre) and TT both restricted my speeds, Sky gives me the full 24MBPS when streaming 4K.

That’s why, it used to allow online transfer - go for new line and when BT Openreach call/arrive just tell them it’s a line takeover. Then get Sky to refund (£20? Is it ??)
