Contacted Sky to cancel and was offered this as a standard deal to keep customers. 50% off your package for 12 months on a 12 month contract and £50 of credit. I also tweeked my package and negotiated an extra £7 off per month. My package is now cheaper than talktalk, bt or virgin by a long way.

got 60% off and £100 credit

Hate the fact customers have to phone threatening to cancel only for sky in this case to drop the price - the fact of it this' had you not they would have quite happily continued to charge you the higher price based on the assumption - well he's paying it so he must be happy?!

It's not just Sky that do it - they all do it and it gets my goat oO

thanks

Same as last year

Thanks for posting OP. Very helpful. I agree with the fact that unless you phone them and pester them until they give you discount as well as throw BT Vision in their face they would happily let you pay £70 a month. My Grandad a loyal customer of sky for years and years gets nil discount no offers NOTHING because he just pays. I've tried to get him to phone up but he says he doesn't want it interrupting his service and messing things up plus his hearing isn't great so he gets frustrated. THIS REALLY GRINDS MY GEARS. im sure he only has TV with them and it's like £60-£70 a month!! Will phone this week!

Basic business sense. Why offer a discount if people continue to pay more per month?

They're a business, not a charity after all and I doubt their shareholders would be shouting, hey give everyone 50% off their package cost...

cancel, keep saying you aren't interested when they call, they eventually offer you months for free with no contract. the fun part is telling them you still don't want it and them being completely stumped lol. we don't have sky any more, they should learn to look after their customers better without you having to leave to get the best deals!

Or as a loyal customer take 25% off for one whole year?

Sky offered me £1000 cash upfront, a villa in Marbella and free internet for life for a one off payment of £0.99 , i accepted on a buy one get one free deal

Yes I have just had that letter. For the past 12 months they gave me it half price and sent a new Sky box so I have signed up to the 25% off. However next year I will be calling and telling them I will cancel it due to "financial" reasons.

Aye - I get that but what you have to realise is they fail to hold on to the customers they have by offering incentives to stay - hence why there is so much competition and yet they all do it?!

I'll bet there's loads of people on here who continue to switch SP because they are sick to the back teeth of forking out good money only to find themselves right back where they started.

A good business rewards it's customers and strives - I've seen loads that don't and just milk there customers and have gone bust!!

Basic business sense shouldn't be left for the customers to vote with their feet - it doesn't work in the long term and whilst Sky have been around for years they continue to struggle - propped up by Murdoch and his other businesses and its shareholders

Not related to sky but today I phoned to complain about my central heating cover going up in price, was offered it free for 6 months after a few different options were offered. It really pays to phone and speak your mind to save on bills.

is it TV or just phone and broadband?

Just tweeted them will see what they offer, if not will cancel then sign up under my name instead of wifes

I've tried getting him to phone up and told him of the offers and discounts, what else can I do????

It's all about knowing how to talk to them, I have free line rental. I have family package, hd, movies and fibre and I pay £26.50. I had 1£100 m and s voucher and 1 £100 Tesco e voucher. Near £450 credit still have £350. Free 2 tb box and frozen remote. I am also exempt from fees to cancel so can cancel as soon as credit run outs! And I have been with sky not even 2 months. Now in the priority team so go straight to a manager when I call. Just push and complain and don't give in to any of there offers

Do it on his behalf via Web chat, j use pretend to be him. Make sure you have all his details to hand, if he can't remember his password they will confirm with bank details instead. Did this for my mum not so long ago

Exactly. Get real folks. Same with the 'Benefits Culture'. Give me money, give me something for nothing because I am a lazy feckless bar steward. What do some eejits not understand??? Why should people expect to get something for nothing, either from a privately owned business, or from the Government, or to be more precise, people like me who work for a living.
Country is going to the dogs. Full of lazy feckless chancers looking for something for nothing.

What are you on about brucey?! I work and so do the majority of people who have sky - your comment makes no sense whatsoever suggesting that people just take whatever is dished up ' getting real ' starts at home, your attitude is ah well just pay it and don't negotiate nothing - only those on benefit get it for nothing?!
I'll bet your local shopkeeper closes up the shop after you've been in! X)

sky can jog on

vithya

I also got this deal, but I had to cancel Sky and go without it for 3 weeks! Quite happy though!

Mine expires in around 3 weeks. Ideally want to keep it for the kids. I usually just be up front...during the year its gone up 4-5 quid and unless its the same price (around 45) or less then I will be prepared to leave.

Agree with others my parents pay ridiculous amounts to sky for tv only...but unless you are prepared to leave and go elsewhere then that will be the case. With everything these days unless your on the ball you will always be ripped off. Myself I feel I have become a serial complainer but if a formal complaint is ever required then I will put my time into doing it.
