Just had this from Ryan on the Sky Chat service - "If you take the Movies pack today , you can call the number 08442 41 41 41 on the 28th day (if you take the movies pack today) and you would get the Movies pack for FREE for another one more month." - Bexie26

I did this earlier in year. Cancelled after trial by email but was annoyed to get customer satisfaction survey afterwards and one question was did the adviser offer you an extended trial or discount to continue? Well no because I cancelled by email as it stated I could. So if you take up offer phone and see what incentives they offer to stay!

Just ring up to cancel as soon as you take it out as you have to give 28 days notice i think.

I have the option of removing the Sky Movies package from my online account. So I guess you could just remove the package to cancel the subscription.

Cheers OP! Thanks for posting.

I'm not sure about the cancellation period other than what it says about cancelling within the 28 days, i cant see any further terms about that part

According to old sky forum questions you have to cancel as soon as you activate.

Will this trial effect my package which I got at a reduced rate?

wow, an actual sky offer i can get! added, stuck in the calander to remove in a month! thanks op!

So when do I cancel?

Awesome, I will cancel online on the 13th of October, a day before the 28 days is up! I think over the phone you may need to ask the amount of days it takes to cancel, but online you can do it whenever I think.

Where do you cancel online?

So when do I cancel?

Best to cancel right away as you have to give 31 days notice.

From their terms & conditions

1 month free trial Sky Movies offer: Sky TV from £21.50 a month. Box, set-up and phone line required. After free trial Sky Movies £8-£16 extra a month depending on package unless you cancel in the first 28 days of trial period. Upfront payment may be required. Offer ends 24 October 2013. One free trial per household per year. Minimum and further terms apply.

I phoned up to upgrade to multi-room today as the website was charging me in error for installation, should be free. Spoke to a chap who gave me a 2TB box free and free installation, should have been £49 for the box. He also gave me 1 month of the movies and cancelled it straight away without even asking.

thanks

I had this last time and I had to give them a months notice period to cancel. So I was charged for 1 month.
Do remember that no matter when you cancel within 28 days, you will sill have to give them a months notice period and you will be charged for that...

Thats rubbish. I had this less than six months ago. Phoned up the day before the end of the trial and said I didn't want movies.... Tried it, didn't like it etc. Told me I would need to give 31 days notice. When I asked if I would be charged he assured me that I wouldn't be and effectively it would be a two month trial. True to his word. No charge.

I just rang up to cancel, took it out today, he said its actaully two months free, ring n the 15th October as it ends on 16 th november.happy daze.

i left it late last time nd was charged the extra month, as i didnt cancel when i took it out.

I can't get the offer as I have a friends and family discount applied to my account and even phoned them to double check but she couldn't get it to add.

Thats a good comment. On sky website its very easy to upgrade your package but there is no options to downgrade your service which requires a phone call and the dreaded call centres and on hold for ages

You got given a whole month of Sky movies for absolutely nothing and got annoyed because they emailed you a survey to check how good their customer service is - a survey that you have no obligation to answer and can just ignore without consequence? And yet you decided to fill it in anyway!?

Please learn to read what people actually write before making stupid replies! You would then realise I was annoyed with myself for cancelling by email rather than phoning as their survey suggested if I had phoned they would have offered me a deal to continue! Try to stop trying to act smart as you are clearly not !

Prob going to think I'm silly but is it just for sky customers ?as I'm with virgin .

Cheers op, it's actually 2 months free movies, phoned up 5mins ago and got it no problem, have to phone back and cancel on the 17th oct so I don't get charged

Just rang up and sorted this out, thanks OP . Have to ring and cancel on 16th Oct but I'll get two months free as the second month is free-of-charge notice period.

I've just got freesat can I get this?

I have a sky box + card + dish, was bought from someone else, would i be able to get this offer?

The offer is said to end on 24 October 2013 so I assume this offer will remain live on their website until this date.

On this basis, could I leave it until this date (or maybe the day before to be safe), sign up and then cancel on the 28th day. The movies then continue a further 28-31 days which in my calculations takes me pretty close to christmas (i.e. giving me access to some of the festive movies)?

Not sure, I did the 3 months half price sports offer, and I lost my cheaper rate, but as your price doesnt change, you might be okay... best to check though because when I cancelled sports I ended up paying an extra £6 per month

I don't see how this could work with people cancelling a day before the offer ends and don't pay a thing. Sky like most companies prepare the following months bill around 14 days before it's due. Any change to your account after this won't change the bill. So if you phone up to cancel just before the offer is due to end, Sky would have already prepared the following months bill with Sky Movies on it woudn't they? This is how it used to work anyway.

This means your account goes into credit as you've overpaid so the month after the bill is less than normal.

I have loads of offers on mine, free line rental, half price broadband, 25% off my package. Don't k.ow why you can't have it fern37.

sky movies are crap. all you get 7 days a week are repeats of the waltons and little house on the prairie. not worth the money. i have been a sky customer for years and im about to cancel everything. im £52.50 a month for broadband, sky entertainment and sky movies. i dont have catchup, record etc. its highway robbery. cancelling today

I don't have a TV, can I get this;-)

I did this earlier in the year too, upgraded, then called to cancel.

You have to give 30-31 days notice so was completely free, no hassles.

From their T&C's page

Two months for me after phoning them, providing I cancel before the second month begins! Cheers

Me too, i get sky movies for free and discounted HD pack, previously had 25% off tv package and 6 months free line rental. Sky cancellations is always the way to go (_;)

Just ordered online having had help with an online chat advisor which quoted "Once you take this pack , you would have to call on the 28th day to cancel this pack and you would get the Movies pack for absolutely FREE for another month".

So I'll be ringing up in 28 days time or a day before which is around 13th October from now

"Yes, you can call the number 08442 41 41 41 on the 28th day from now to cancel this pack and you would be able to get the Movies pack for FREE for another one month."
