won't whs also stock movies & ents?

same price?

OP just missed it?

whsmith not gone into administration yet

The reason for these discounts is that they already announced the next now tv box based on roku 3 to be launched in late August / early September with 1080p playback and the addition of wired connectivity (current version only has wireless).

I just know these two upgrades, dunno if there are any other.

I bought 3 a while ago to use them as plex servers

These now TV deals are crazy. I already own about 59 boxes just to get the cheap passes.

Can I ask a question, what do u get with a now TV box? We have no Ariel in the house but have sky down stairs. My daughter has a TV in her room but just watches DVDs on it as can't get a picture for normal TV. If she had one of these will she get channels to watch or do I still need an Ariel in the loft? Sorry if that sounds stupid but haven't a clue.

Anyone seen any with entertainment or movie passes or just the sport ones?

No tv aerial needed, it will connect over the internet using your wifi connection.

If you want to watch the TV channels you'll need to get an entertainment pass as well (this box has sports included)

Now TV works through the internet. As long as there's a decent WiFi signal in your daughter's room it'll work.
Bear in mind these are the sports day passes. You want the entertainment pack for most channels but iPlayer, 4OD and some of the other streamers work without subscription.

Hot price.

Another 'stupid' question - When the day passes are used up, does this essentially just become a freeview box?

Heat added.
That done I wouldn't bother as you don't get live TV, it's all catch up.
Needs a hdmi input on your TV.

So with this connected to a monitor you don't need a tv licence?

If you watch it live, then yes (I won't tell if you won't)

Live tv available via iPlayer (BBC only of course), don't know about the other services.

It's never like a freeview box. The only live channels are available via a Nowtv subscription (and apparently you can access live BBC channels via the iplayer, although i've never tried that). If you don't have an active subscription you'll still be able to use things like Youtube, BBCiplayer, Demand 5, and various other video-playing services.
NowTV boxes are well worth buying at such a cheap price. Some of what is available isn't very good, but there's more than enough good stuff to make it a bargain.

You can also use a composite connection through the AV port of the box. The lead is included with Roku but not with the Now TV box.

Yeah, 3 months entertainment Argos deal was great for new True Detective, which I'm not really feeling yet, maybe I can't see past the first series as it was incredible.

any date up to about 18 months away

Has anyone actually got one of these deals at anywhere other than the Broughton store (north wales) WHSmiths store?

KODI

Rupert murdoch once pulled a baby's arm off and showed it to him before sticking it down his trousers. Look it up its true. he's that evil.

Does anybody think that the new box will have the record/rewind feature that sky plus has? or is it not necessary on now TV with it being catch up? We are considering cancelling our sky TV package and buying a Now TV box. Also at the risk of sounding stupid (I just like clarity) someone said previously that you don't watch live TV, I'm presuming with the sports passes you do watch football games etc live? thanks for any help anyone can give!
