Sky price increase- got £17 pm for 12 months for Fibre Max and Line rental - negotiate through CHAT link (retention deal)

No email yet, I checked my Sky Fibre Max future billing which will increase from £18pm to £40pm from April. My current contract ends late March. This was the original Sky Fibre Unlimited, which Sky upgraded to Fibre Max late last year at "no extra cost".

I logged on Sky chat at 10.30pm last night before live chat closed at 11pm. The Indian chat advisor offered me £20 pm for 12 months, then £18pm when I complained about the huge price increase and threatened to leave to other providers. Success!!

Sky chat link: advisor.sky.com/cha…bal

Chat with an Indian advisor is always better than phone for negotiating prices. Calum or Ainslie on the phone will not be so generous. Hope the chat link helps members to negotiate other sky packages too. Good luck folks!

Alternatively if the link fails for whatever reason, here's another approach:

1. On Sky website, search for cancel broadband
2. Takes you to Want to cancel Sky Broadband/Fibre section
3. Choose any option - I chose Its too Expensive
4. Takes you to concerned about cost section - choose any
5. Sky will give you a "better offer" - scroll down to the bottom for Chat Online button to connect (this option could take a while).

Update: Bill showing £17pm instead of £18. Maybe typo I dont know but its a contract I agreed to :-)

Yes £18 includes line rental - amended the post.
This live chat doesn't load up, just keep saying an expert will be with you shortly.

Is there another link to get this chat to open?
Mine is going up £2 for fibre and £2 for talk time extra at the end of March plus a further £14 increase at contract end in May. They have offered only a £2 discount, so have terminated my contract early with free release as per regulations. I have now joined Plus net for £2 cheaper, to a similar deal that I am already paying for with a fixed price for 12 months, and no set up fee.

It took me 10 mins before I got connected to someone. Depends on how busy they are. May be worthwhile getting on chat after hours like I did.
Fibre MAX and line rental for £18? Can please share a screenshot for the offer?
Just tried talking to Sky. I have 40meg and line rental no calls. Would not budge.

Not tried the chat yet. May wait a few days and see what happens.

Is chat more successful than calling them?
Trying to negotiate over the phone is rubbish, you are unlikely to get anything or at the best a rubbish offer, chat if you can get on it is the way to go.
After just switching to talktalk fibre yesterday, i have got an offer from sky retention on sky fibre max for 17,6 pounds.
Saving 10 pounds on fibre from april. Thank you sky
Just tried the 2nd option. Got knocked down from £38.99 for "Fibre Unlimited" & line rental to £18.99 for both.

Same for me. They told me £27 was the best they can do which is a bit silly when a new customer can sign up with cashback for the same.

He even suggested, that I could sign up in another name. A partner or flat mate. Sadly I have neither.

Well done. Maybe even give it a few days, and try the same tactic to bring it down even more. I know others have done so.

Yup I think so from experience, but be patient when connecting to chat, its worth the wait, for me anyway.Like another poster said, phone retention is rubbish. Good luck!

Would they have put a note on my account to not move? I’ll try in a day or so. Really don’t want to move. Not had an issue and nice fast.
not budging at all.. told me mine would be 38.49.. lol.. cancelled and went with another provider

The phone and chat are two separate departments I think from what I recall. No harm in trying chat after trying phone.
I've tried twice now and the best offer I get is Sky fibre @ £17/month of Fibre plus @ £19.50/month (currently on sky fibre). Has anyone else on Sky fibre unlimited had a better offer?

Annoyingly I am being told that the only way to waive the early cancellation fee is to give notice and cancel the contract, but this will result in my price of £25/month immediately reverting to £40.99 until I leave. Any comments on the legality of penalising a customer for leaving in this way?
£25 per month for Fibre Unlimited offered to my via Live Chat, my contract ends next month.

Requested cancellation anyway because the SkyQ hub only transmits 20-22Mb/s on a 79Mb/s line. He told me to use my new provider (Vodafone) to switch services to avoid loss of broadband, but has already waived the early termination charge for when this happens (we will see).
Was getting quoted £32.50 a month but used the link and got it down to £25. Was paying £22.50 last year so £25 it fine for fibre plus and evening and weekends

I just done £71 no sports , but kids , hd , movies, multiroom, entertainment, fibre max, phone line. Sky q 2tb plus 1 mini box. Took me 1.5 hours on retention chat!! Got them down from £86 which they said was their best possible, then £76, took movies off then they said £65 but when they processed it dropped to £60 so added movies Back on, total £71 for 18 months.

You get best deals when you are within 31 days of end of contract. Mark it on your calendar to remember to do it every 18 months 31 days before end date
Whilst it's getting lots of cold votes i think the deal is very good.At the moment i pay that for the standard BB ,but in the last few weeks getting a drop out same day of the week and roughly same tiime. So i think i will try my luck,But guessing i will have to pay for a different router those ? is there any other charges that may be charged ?does anyone know please.Would be happy with just the smaller fibre BB to be honest.

Sky chat is based all discounts on their new pricing schedule so you think the discount offered is much higher than what it really is. For instance, my monthly packaging is £68.99 going up to £74.89 a whooping £5.90 per month in stead of £2 or £3 increments as per previous years.

After some serious negotiations on live chat they offered fibre, line rental and 2 phone options for £40 (currently £48.99) and refused to amend my TV package stating you must phone up so my revised bill is £61.90 saving £12.99 based on my current bill not the inflated new price schedule due to start in April. And then my live chat ended before I went ahead.......holds head in hands.....

Trying to find any customer service number on their website is a challenge on its own! Unless it’s just me?

Any advise before I do battle with Sky? I have been with them for over 17 years so diamond member who never seems to get anything back

Did that come with an install fee? The best i could get was £74 + £40 install fee -entertainment, hd, kids, fibre max and phoneline, so no movies or mini box and i was on the phone over an hour, and decided to cancel

Had sky q fitted 2 year ago for £40, that deal wasn’t sky q newly fitted so not sure what the fees would be . But £40 is decent it’s far better than sky +
Thanks for sharing link for live chat. Was struggling to find it. Managed to get fibre max for £22 . Not quite 17 but still a big saving on what I was paying !
Took an hour to connect on chat, said I wanted to leave as fibre max increased to £27. Was instantly lowered to £22, then said I don’t wanna pay more than £20, advisor ‘went and spoke to manager’ then said he could do £20 for 12 month contract. Probably could have got it cheaper if I’d really tried...still a £7 saving and no hastle of switching providers/cashback deals etc

I'm on this forum because I already do this and regularly monitor for price drops to trigger renegotiation.

Looking for comments on the legality of removing discounts due to giving notice because of the price increase.
Looking for comments on whether anyone has been offered a bettered deal on fibre unlimited decreasing £25 -> £17 e.g. better price or speed increase. (phone and fibre only, no TV).
Not happy they won't offer anything less than £27
£22 is best i could get for talk and fibre max. They would do fibre unlimited for £17 but wouldn't budge.
Still beats anything else out there.

Hand your notice in. They offer better deals the closer it gets to the 31st day. Don’t let it go over that date
£22 for fibre max, line rental, anytime calls. Plus £35 for sky hd entertainment, kids, hd, boxsets, cinema and sky go extra so all together £57 pm. Anyone managed to haggle a better deal? I think I managed to bag a good deal considering sky services are not cheap.

Seems like a great deal! Is this sky Q? Did you get it through the online chat or on the phone?
