Sky Q multiroom and up to 4 mini boxes for £10pm (18m contract) or additional Sky Q minis for £50 one off

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Hi Everyone,

This is a post for anyone that already has Sky Q multi-room and therefore an existing mini box or if you want to add multi-room although that comes with the obligatory new 18m contract.

I was looking into getting a 3rd box due to the current amount of time I spend in my home office and it was a lot cheaper than I thought. Direct from Sky, you can get a new mini for £50 with no additional ongoing cost or extension to the contract. This seems excellent value as mini boxes on eBay are going for this sort of an amount which is strange as most of them should still belong to Sky...

I added a 2nd mini box so I could watch the Cricket when I "take a break from work"

I also manage a Sky account for my parents and using the same link for them allows me to add four! mini boxes for £0 and then a new contract of 18m for just £10pm.

So for clarity:
1. You must have an existing multi room subscription.
2. You can add additional mini boxes for £50 one off cost depending on the max your main Sky Q box supports
3. This link works when you are logged into your Sky account.
4. If you do not have multi-room, you can get that for £10pm with your first mini box included for agreeing to a new 18m contract.
5. This may be account specific.

I hope this helps someone as I certainly didn't know it would only cost me a one off £50 as I would have done it ages ago. Shame it's not 4k but the cricket isn't broadcast in that anyway....

Stay Safe!

martin159:
Please all be aware that at the moment there is a limit to the amount of mini boxes that can be in use at the same time. As an engineer I install multiple systems a day and a lot of customers have not been informed or are unaware of the limitations of how many can be viewed simultaneously.
The original 1tb boxes at the moment can only be used with 1 mini box at the same time. You can have multiple boxes installed in a property to be able to watch in a different room although other mini boxes will need to be placed into standby.
The 2tb boxes or the newer 1tbUHD boxes can be used along with 2 minis at the same time.
Worth noting limitations are only on minis and wether viewing main box or not will not affect how many minis can be used. For example with a original 1tb box you could not place main Qbox in standby to watch on 2 minis if that makes sense. Even if I did not work for sky I still believe it is a great deal at £50 to have use of sky in a different room to save moving box around the house and possibly causing connection issues.

Cheeky gits STILL charging for HD in 2020!
Why would you have to pay for a mini box anyway, I thought Sky now only rented you the equipment and it all had to be returned?
Instead of paying £50 for your own additional box, couldn't you just borrow one of parents four that they will be getting for free?!.

You answered your own question, they rent them you for £50.

Here's what I see on my parents account who don't have multiroom currently.

They do, the whole charging different prices for ‘installation’ depending on what box you take is just legal robbery by Sky.

Maybe less so on the minis but the main boxes for sure, never pay for the main Q boxes!

Can't get the £10 a month sadly, currently paying £14

They’re tagged to the address. Same reason you’re not allowed to sell the Q boxes as Sky will block the box and charge the seller if the box isn’t returned when you end a contract.

This is what my Sky engineer told me when I had Q installed.
theyve been this price for ages

I bought an extra mini box at start of lock down for 50 quid

still think this is steep to be honest... I need another one, but might spend the 50 quid on a IPTV stick instead
I never knew this and fancy another box! Cheers

I'm not actually going for that, I was originally posting the £50 box info and thought I would check if it was just my account or VIP specific so only logged into their account to check. They are OAP's, they don't need Multiroom.

Recently renewed and got the following:

This appears to be account specific (for the free box) as it is quoting me an additional £50 and has always been this price?

Not the best no, the multiscreen price is just being offset by higher charges on the other packs.

Wouldnt factor any equipment you dont own as part of a 'deal'

Standard rates are way over inflated either way.

Had this convo with Sky recently when I changed to Sky Signature. Even the Sky agent agreed it was a bit daft that they charge for HD when most programs and channels offer a HD service. Money for old rope. You would think that by going to Sky Signature they would drop the whole HD add-on.
your £39 package, plus extra on mine: kids: £2.5..... sky ulitmate: £6
47.50 + multiroom: £7 54.50
expensive stuff on mine: +£2 sky sports HD vs free +£3 more then for sky sports.
so if i sort the sky sports out, - which im not contracted with.
(dunno what dif between entertainment vs signature)

the other guy is £5er less, but getting cheap sky ent, -5 and kids -1.5

WOWWWW, getting the Sky Sports complete Package for only £10....now that is really good.

How did you negotiate this.... As when I called Sky, they would only let me have the sports package for £18 and wouldnt drop it for me....

Just bought one, and while I was on to them they reduced my monthly cost by £24.

I give my notice to cancel, then went onto live chat to haggle.

Only issue was the admin fee. They wanted £20 to ‘unlock’ these offers, managed to get them down to £10. I usually keep haggling until they remove it completely but was already on with them long enough and was happy with the deal.
My home office is outside in a log cabin. Would the main Q box be able to communicate with that properly? Separate wireless network too.

Assuming it can see the same network as the main box with decent WiFi speeds yes.

Its basically the rebranding of Sky Entertainment pack plus Box sets pack.

Main box plus any minis must be on same network. Worst case scenario if possible could you run a hard wire between main box to mini?
1616french20/07/2020 15:03

Yeah

I got it to work again by logging into my account in incognito browser mode then searched multiroom. I now have multiroom for £10pm plus 4 free boxes on the way (apparently)

Guess I could bridge the networks with Apple Airport kit somehow. Thought of doing it to boost signal in garden outside house.

Got the offer of another box for £50 but I'm going to leave until my current deal is up and try to scrounge a 4th box for free.
1616french20/07/2020 15:03

Yeah

Try using a fresh browser. I often have cookie issues with Sky so start an Chrome incognito session or similar and that usually works.
terms and conditions say new 18 month contract when just buying the box during sky q contract.
