Sky have a great sale on basic Sky Q remotes - they're now £12.49, shipping is a £1, and there's £1.81 Topcashback available.

The fancy voice remote is also on sale, but there's only a fiver knocked off - this has gone from £30 to £25

Why would anyone need to buy a Sky Q remote control ? - The Sky Q equipment is on loan from Sky, so any faults they will replace the equipment/remote free of charge ?

That voice control is a new one for people who don't like the touchpad on Q. It's got solid buttons

If you know any staff member it is £19.99 for the voice one.
The normal sky remotes are half price too

You have obviously never seen a toddler gleefully depositing your remote / mobile / whatever he can find down the toilet.

Some of us prefer Quidco. But who cares really, all I did was mention it, sorry to have upset you.
Got sky Q and love it, except for the remotes (both styles) just can’t seem to be able to change the channel or tv input one handed. Wife thought it was hilarious and that I was getting old and decrepit, that was until she tried it and failed just as much as I did

Did you know that you can now use the voice function of a voice remote to change channels for you eg saying 'ITV' with the side button pressed will usually change to ITV HD (for your region).

You can say play, pause and even stuff like 'back 15 seconds', 'skip forward 3 minutes'.

Have you ever used the touch remote? It’s truly my awful. Much prefer the buttons and the 2Tb box only comes with a touch.

These are £6.99 on eBay. Brand new. Free delivery.
Love the voice control - handy for things like turning subtitles on as well as looming for films and actors.
Be warned though that although you can link 2 remotes to one sky q box, only one will work as voice control.

Thanks for that tip - didn't know about it. Sounds handy for jumping to a certain point in a long recording instead of having to FF all the way through.

Installer gave me both for the 2tb box as he said a lot of people don’t like and can’t get away with the touch remote

I didn’t know that, but the buttons at the top of the remote are the only ones that are way to use

I'm not talking about the remote in the original post I'm referring to the Sky Q Touch remote (you said you had both styles), this is the voice one.

The button outlined in blue is the one you need to use (the dot under the sky logo/button is the microphone).

I know what the remotes do, you still can’t change the telly input with one hand on either of them! Compared to the gold ones with a bit of weight and much better placed buttons, these are absolute pants

Sorry. You didn't sound as if you did. I was only trying to make sense out of.

What you just wrote doesn't make much sense to me either. I didn't know that there used to be such a thing as a gold remote. What did it do that an ordinary Sky remote could not? As for switching TV input, don't most TV come out of standby and switch to the Sky's HDMI when you power up the box. If have to switch inputs on my TV I use my TV's remote (which is designed for that) not Sky's.

Yes TVs do default to the sky input as long it’s in the arc input but majority of tvs only have the one and when you've got kids who want to watch something on an amazon box or similar, you need to switch the tv input.
It I still stand by my original statement that remotes are not very good if you are trying to use one handed, the old remotes were spot on
Haven't got sky q yet but hear slot of people dislike the sky q remote sonordred the button one incase.Hot from me.
