Just logged in to MySky on the sky.com website and under my package details there was an option to upgrade to sky Q in multicolored writing. The deal was Free Sky 2tb Silver for £30 install plus a mini sky Q for £30 one off fee and then £12pm for MultiScreen. Just before I ordered this I rang up sky and got my sky TV package for 50% for 12 months so i have outweighed the extra monthly cost excluding the install fee. Not sure if everyone will have this deal but worth a look.

Just had a look at my account and its £99 per box installation for me

Took this last week but had only movies and sports at half price at the time. £60 install for Sky Q Silver, got the new router yesterday (ten times better) dual band wifi is long overdue. 6 week lead time though due mine on 28th September for the TV.

thieving #$*%s

"Free Sky Q box" - happy to be corrected but I am sure you only rent the Sky Q box from them...?

got the same offer on online account but it's rented so I'm unsure. still interested so thinking about it.

when they let you have 2 sky q boxes we will talk

Paid £30 4 installation. Man i spoke 2 said you can cancel the £12 multiscreen pack but then you would just be left with a basic tv box and no recording etc... as the price includes the features and multiscreen. No need for multiscreen yet but can order the box any time.

I didn't realise the new sky hub is included and I asked how much ha. 30 day cooling off period. Visit due in 2-3weeks.

I wonder if Sky Q will actually be success.

I personally seem to have missed the point. Aside from the Ultra HD on some sports... And I guess the exclusivity of some movies and TV shows... It costs an awful lot per month... They tried to sell it to me as their version of / better than Netflix...

But with Netflix (again, only the shows they have) it's £9pm for the four screen Ultra HD option and any £30 streaming box can serve it up, no need for special Sky Q miniboxes.

They also bang on about being able to record 4 channels at once... But who needs that? Seriously? Is anyone craving the ability to record 4 channels plus watch one, in this day-and-age of instant-on catch-up services for the majority of channels?

Maybe it's just me but I can't see the justification for the gigantic price tag for Sky Q?

Would love to see a good detailed reply from someone who does see the point / subscribe to it who can set me straight!

I'm guessing if it breaks they will have to replace it then?

You really need a high Sky Q... to figure out the best deal

i think people are missing the point of this thread. The major plus is that sky are now rolling over full discounts onto sky q. i am on 50% off and they will roll this over for the full term, so i pay £55 for full sky q silver with sports movies etc etc and only pay the £30 per mini box and the first box. For me this is the deal i have been waiting for HOT.

ha forgot to ask that.

£297 up front cost for me, I think I will be waiting some time before upgrading to the new full of glitches, freezes, dropped signal and resetting Q boxes

Think Sky Q is falling on its ****. They need to continue reducing the cost and stop this rent the box nonsense.

HD is more than sufficient and most folk still don't have 4K TVs.

Folk have more money than sense, I would love to have it but madness for the premium they want.

Agree, best wait for version 2. Will also be cheaper in time. I can't see any real benefit in it anyway.

I have just logged in to see if I have the offer (sky customer for 18 years), but the only offer on sky q I have is a 2tb box for £99?

Just paid £60 upfront with £12 per month for 2TB box as well as the half price movie bundle. Just a 12 month contract I a happy to take the plunge, I would have paid for a bigger memory box anyway so this seemed the best of both worlds. I could live to regret it,, but I am very keen to try it. Used my BT cashback MasterCard to pay the deposit.

I'm being offered £30 for either option of the more basic 1TB
Sky Q 1TB

£30 standard installation
Select
Record
3 shows
watch a 4th live

Store up to
500 hrs
of standard definition TV

Easy to use
Sky Q
remote

Watch Sky TV in
2 rooms
when you take a Sky Q Mini box

Watch Sky TV on
1 tablet
at any one time in the home

OR

Sky Q 2TB

£30 standard installation
Selected
Record
4 shows
watch a 5th live

Store up to
1000 hrs
of standard definition TV

Bluetooth
Sky Q touch
remote

Enjoy shows in
Ultra HD
with Sky Q Multiscreen

Watch Sky TV in
2+ rooms
when you take Sky Q Mini boxes

Watch Sky TV on
2 tablets
at the same time in the home

Then 1 mini box is £30.

Either option is £12 a month more.

We've had Q pretty much since launch, the best feature by far is the four recordings at once, I can take or leave the rest of it. We don't use the App on our tablets for viewing live TV and the two mini boxes we have get stroppy every couple of days, they'll play back recordings from the main box but wont show a TV guide or live channel - requiring a power cycle of both the offending mini and the main box and that's just one (the most common) of the many bugs we've had to deal with.

I personally wouldn't recommended it to anyone that isn't tech savvy, wished we'd waited until all the issues had been ironed out - for me its borderline not fit for purpose.

I have the offer on mine, question is I thought you had to have a Sky Q Silver package for 4k, has that been scrapped? or am I getting it mixed up lol? I have all Family pack at the moment, is there anything in 4k without movies/sports? such as box sets ?

I got sky q from a friend at sky, pretty much half price. I went from Virgin tivo full package to sky q, and q is way superior in pretty much every aspect. one of the things I didn't like about the old sky was the menu system, but q has basically copied Virgin tivo, which I think is much better. Overall, q is a winner in my eyes.

Just checked my online account. Full package for £42 per month. One off £30 fee for 2TB box.

Checked mine £198 for the 2tb box and one sky q mini.good deal if uve got the offer.have some heat.

That's normal price. £99 for 2tb box aka Silver plus £99 for one mini.

Sky silver is now the 2tb box and is the only one that gets you 4K/UHD, the minis don't receive 4K and neither does the 1tb main box. Sport (football and f1) is in UHd and so are a few movies plus the occasional documentary but not much else for now.

I am guessing you dont already have multiroom? Seems customers without existing multiroom get a better deal than those with? Usual Sky logic!

No I don't, I guess that explains it!

i don't think that's how the system is designed to work...

Spoke to sky package was an extra £12 per month as I get 50% off my standard package with multi room it meant only a increase of £4 per month. The advisor then hit me with additional charges of £99 for the mini box and £99 installation which was for changing the lnb!!! Told him it was a deal breaker and was prepared to let me go without ordering, anybody else hit with this charge

I called sky today and cancelled all my package then logged into my sky account on the pc.i accepted the half price 12 months offer they always put in my account after you say your leaving.i spoke to an advisor on the chat so my multi screen sub was removed right away.after 10 mins on the chat I then clicked the upgrade to skyq and got the £30 for each box offer and still kept my half price sky package.happy days now roll on the 6th for the install. Thanks people for the info

Yeah I got that. Managed to get £30 credit but that's the best I could get out of them. Only paying £42 a month for everything so went for it and will sell my current equipment to get some money back. Really want 4K football

Not the case.
With multiroom already is £198 upfront for 2 boxes.
Without multiroom already is £60 upfront but £12 extra a month.
Over the term it's £6 more if you don't already have multiroom.

Was not really interested in this but after some research and talking to friends it seems a 2TB box on Sky Q for £12 and £30 up front is a great deal but I'm still not convinced to go for it as I like my Sky HD box but love new tech and 4K would be great.

Think it's the MSE in me...

Also another thing, do you continue to use the same viewing card number as I have BT Sport and don't want to give BT the opportunity to **** things up by having to tell them to change viewing card numbers, don't even know if that can be done.

Sky priced me a 2TB normal Sky HD box upgrade at £250 today oO (I have a 500GB box.)

Unfortunately my Sky Q order was cancelled :(. They said that it's not available to flats with a communal Sat dish as the engineer needs to add something to it so that means anyone with sky+ will get no signal unless they already have Q. Adviser did say that they are trying to add Q to communal dish without affecting Sky+ which might be possible by end of the year. Got the £30 refund and let me keep the hub so I guess it's ok.

Just spoke to Sky and was offered Sky Q for an extra £12 to my current £40 a month subscription, making it £52 a month. What i noticed though was that this was only up until the end of my current subscription and not the full 12 months of the Sky Q contract. They were adamant i could renegotiate in March (my renewal date) but there was something that just stopped me from committing after realising id still have almost 6 months of the Sky Q contract that technically would be full price, unless i managed to sort a deal out.. Felt like my power to negotiate would be gone, so decided not to go through with it.
