Sky retention deal £38.25 all channels Sky Sports/movies & Multiroom!!!!

I rang Sky to have my annual re negotiation of my tv package. I have all the Sky Channels, plus Sky Sports and Movies, Multiroom, Sky go/Sky go extra, I also have 2 Hd boxes .I do not have any of the additional subscription services like Bt Sports or HD. The package was £55.25 per month
I went through to cancellations and after explaining I could no longer afford the subscription, the usual conversation ensued regarding what channels don't I watch so they can look at cancelling them to keep my cost down, I explained I probably only watch around 15 channels plus Sports/Movies. I cut to the chase and asked if he could do me a deal, he asked who I had my broadband with I told him Virgin Media, and I get for £23.49 per month 50MB download speed and free weekend calls. He then came back with the following offer which I could not believe the breakdown was as follows;
TV package all channels, Sky Sports, Movies £33 per month, Hd package not included.
Multi room £5.25 per month
Sky fibre optic up to 40MB and landline with free weekend calls £19.99 per month.
Total package price £58.24!!!!
I asked if I decided to cancel the BB could I still keep the TV deal he said yes, so I took the offer up without the hassle of going through Retentions and giving my cancellation notice.
I appreciate this will not be for everyone, and only applies to people at the end of their contracts, plus it all depends on the advisor on the day, but it is worth mentioning this deal should you get offered a more expensive package to stay with Sky.

I called 02077055000 rather than the 0870 number.

This will probably go cold.

We got sane package excluding multi screen for £18 earlier in the year, lots of hot dealers did so seems your deal isn't as good as they were doing

I've seen people get much better deals than this.

You should actually go through with the cancellation and they will contact you within a few days with far better deals. Sorry cold

As with all Sky deals it is all down to what you are prepared to pay, I also know people paying much more for the same channels. Eslick if you got the family pack sky sports and movies for £18 then well done. Sky change their save offers every month so it is all down to the luck of the draw what is available at the time your contract is up , I hope my post allows someone to get an idea what Sky are offering currently, it is down to the individual to push for more.

If the OP is happy with the deal he got, then that's fair enough. It's no good banging on about deals that were available earlier on in the year or what might become available later on. Most of us are not fortunate enough to have a TARDIS, and have to sort out things in the here and now rather that on the basis of "what was" or "will be". The deal, as is, is hot.

It's not hot when others have got far better deals. These deals shouldn't be posted anyway they are only ever relevant to the individual posting

I did make reference in my post it is not for everyone and only applies to those whose contracts are up. how many times do people post Sky Deals only to be shot down by people saying they have got a better deal months ago, it is only a deal if you can get it now, if any has got a better deal that is current please post. if I help 1 person get this deal from my post then my work is done.

If you go through with the cancellation it's normally an offer of 50% to free depending on the month. Need a good excuse up till last year my wife had been on "maternity leave" for about 5 years and in that time we probably only paid full subs for 6 months discounts ranged from 10% to 75% aiming for free next time

Worth checking moneysavingexpert thread on this to see what people are offered on a daily basis that way you can negotiate a limitless better

I have just been offered around £25 including multiroom yesterday. 75% off making this deal cold. Try harder and there is much better deal available.

my thoughts exactly... why can't we just appreciate the deal for what it is rather than compare it to past non existent deals that are of no use?? I for one found this deal helpful as my current Sky contract is about to expire shortly and this gives me an idea of what to expect. Heat added.

So I'm going to be moving house soon.. Would it be best just to cancel my sky and then start as a new customer at the new address? Would I get a better deal this way? Or just threaten to leave and let then offer a retention deal to keep me at the new residence?

This type of posts aren't "deals" that the average person on here is interested in (and this one's not a particularly good deal anyway).

We all know that if you get in touch with sky they'll try and fob you off, so you go through to disconnections to the retention team and see what they've got and if yer not happy, try again with a different person later on and if you still aren't happy, cancel and wait to see if they call you in the month's notice period that you have to give. If the worst comes to the worst you can always call them before you get cut off and sign up for a new contract.

But yeah, this kind of info can be found all over the web and for me it's akin to someone seeing a loaf of bread marked down with a yellow sticker at their local Asda and posting it up here - no one has any guarantee of getting the same and it's all about timing.

Not having a go, it's just my take on why this is getting so painfully cold

Stop giving rupert Murdoch your money, get a dreambox

What letter do you say you got?

Well I must be the only person that got the worst deal cancelled and waited till 2 days before they were due to cut me off and got nothing, apart from fact that sky have been doing me for years because when they set it up they put my broadband as another deal so I have been paying an extra 2.50 ever since I have been with them charming eh

I got the full package incl sport and movies (minus HD) for £15.50/month.

I'd been with Sky for many, many years but not received much in the way of discounts in all that time. Fed up with all the offers out there that I'm not getting, I went through the motions to get a deal to renew my contract. After prolonged effort on my part, they did make offer(s), but crap in comparison to those offered to new customers! Not happy, I cancelled TV. Surprisingly, not missing Sky much at all. I would have stayed with Sky had they made me a decent package offer. In fact, leaving them has been a bit of an eye opener. Can't believe how much money I was paying Sky TV for a few extra channels for all these years. The majority of their everyday channels are available for free, etc. Very pleased with the money I am now saving. However, I am being charged an extra £2.50 a month for BB as TV cancelled. Talk about rubbing salt into the wound. Our unlimited BB is not fabulous and hasn't handled multiple connections well for some time now so looking to update my services elsewhere. The benefits of changing to a new provider means I can take advantage of their new customer offers...without all the hassle of haggling Sky for scraps!
