Sky Retention Deal - 60% off all tv packages 1yr, 50% off multiroom, £50 credit

I've no idea whether they'll let anyone rejoin on these terms, but for the benefit of anyone phoning to haggle saying you've seen this and demanding the same won't do your negotiations any harm,

The £50 credit can be offset against the first bill. I added multiroom at £5.62 per month, and that comes with Sky Go Extra, meaning (should I be so inclined, and a bit devious) four friends could enjoy this package too on their mobile devices.

Cold votes. I don't mind, but it'd be more helpful if you could link to a better Sky deal though.

Family package plus sports & movies works & the HD packs is less than £25 per month after factoring the effect of the £50 credit.

I got £100 credit for haggling

Better still, good work! That's why I started this thread, I wanted to get the best deal I could, and thought I might have.

Knowing I could have done better (possibly) would have helped. Anyone done better than that?

I got it down to 60% off for a year on all TV package plus £100 credit into account, free unlimited broadband just pay line rental

I got stuff you! Not bothered at all! Cancelling later as I've been a sky customer TV (20+ years and phone broadband for at least 3yrs!) that to me says sorry loyalty means zip!

But this isn't a deal. This is you saying, ring up and demand to pay less.

It's a deal. I was offered it.

I got this resign deal set to me through the post, 60% off, but £100 credit, as mentioned by a few above. There is no specific code to quote, so if you mention the deal when calling sky, you'd probably get it.

Ps you can sign up for any package, so the bottom one costs £8pm after the discount, but the £100 credit it equivalent to £8.33pm so wouldn't cost you anything for the 12 months.

Yes they said thanks for leaving

When will people learn?!

This isn't really a deal you should always haggle when your contract is up, tbf this is probably the best sort of result you will get but it all depends on the rep that's dealing with you, what sort of deals you have been given before and also how long you have been with Sky for. I'm also pretty sure they may take into consideration if Virgin is available in your area but I have no evidence of that.

When I renewed I asked about a similar deal to this that a friend got offered they said as I'm with them they can't offer this deal as its only intended for customers who had already left. He also said that the detentions department didn't have the authority to match this deal as there is a marketing department that sends out these deals after a customer has left sky more than three months ago. Don't know how true that is.

worry not, once you cancel, you get a call a week later from the person that can offer the real discounts. wait for the call to convince you to stay AFTER your cancellation is processed...

credit for posting OP ... and sorry people are voting cold because this is not a deal that can be clicked on !

Fact is tons of muppets out there are paying full whack year after year.. they need to know that the cost can be reduced..... but on the plus side, they are subsidising these discounts and credits to the once that threaten to leave.

As an existing customer I tried the live chat feature on the contact us page. They seem eager to please for good feedback at the end with the form. They offered me £10 of line rental, free broadband unlimited both for 12month and 40% off sky variety for 6 months and 60% off sky tv package. My mam tried and got the same and with different advisor.
I only asked to downgrade broadband unlimited then he asked my ideal budget then said offers on account. Worth giving it a go. Much better and easier than over the phone. They help you out more!

I've been on/off for a ffew years and usually for me I have to wait a few months before I start getting 'real deals', at first it will be so much % off before a few more months when I get 50% off.

One time I managed to get the whole lot free for 6 months no contract.

I signed with Sky a couple of weeks ago and will receive a Galaxy tab free also go through quidco and got £170 cash back (December) I worked it out as being a saving of £1200 over the year

We will see I will be telling them to do one!

I've just cancelled Sky after 12 years, spoke to them 4 times and they only offered derisory deals (compared with other people who were offered 40-50% off) for me to stay. Didn't make me feel like a valued loyal customer at all, the way they spoke to me.

I had Virgin installed last week (cheaper package, miles faster broadband, plus £231 from topcashback and a free Galaxy tab), lo and behold Sky then offered me 60% discount off any package plus £100 credit. Too late Sky, I'm in a better place now...

just did the live chat and got 60% for 12 months and £50 credit - 10mins on chat.

Congrats op for getting your result but this isn't a hotukdeal. It's a one off individual deal for you. It's why these retention posts always go ice cold.

Sky are a disgusting company because of the way they treat "customers" so randomly.
A decent company should treat all customers the same.
I rang a few weeks ago,for my in-laws,been with them for over 10 years,no deals ever.
They offered them 10% discount for 10 months. On their behalf,I told them to stick it,as thousands of other customers, who haven't been with sky for as long,or on lesser priced contracts, get 50% off or more....why don't they treat everyone one the same....disgraceful company, and probably why all sky deals get so cold.

Agree with the above, just wasted an hour on live chat and was told 35% was maximum discount so I've told them to cancel everything.

cancel and they ring every day

chrissyb1

cancel and they ring every day

No they don't....as I said, cancelled for my in-laws nearly 3 weeks ago....not had a single call from sky since.
Although have just been onto their sky account online, and are now offering a massive 25% off for a year if they stay.....I will be advising them to let the cancellation go ahead....They only give you the best deals when trying to get you back as a customer.

yep they let me terminate the contract after offering me a saving of 1.67

Cracking deal! Sky is a rip off yes I agree but they are the best tv platform to use by a country mile. Would never pay full price but 50-60% off for a year and im in!

Apologies for not putting this up in time but Money Saving Expert site had the best deal I've ever seen for broadband and calls 3 days ago - 14,000 codes for £100 credit with first Sky bill, half price line rental, free broadband and free weekend calls. It works out that for the whole 12 months you end up paying less than £6 - that's for the whole year, not per month!. No catches. Managed to get a code just before they expired on Wed night. Going live on 3 july. Not much help to anyone except to look out for similar upcoming offers.

How you work that out?

The OP gives fantastic advice, not to mention the best deal I have seen for a while ... and it's cold?
10 minutes on the phone saves £400-£500 per year
How can this be cold?
Sometimes I can never figure this site out.
Even if you don't use that advice now .... you could later. Unless your mum and dad pay the bill (?)

Listen. There are 2 ways to deal with Sky when coming to the end of your contract. Both work.

1. End of contract:
Coming to the end of your contract, phone up 30 days prior to cancel. The original first-line will try convince you to stay with a derisory effort. But that's all they can offer as their hands are tied. Ask to be put through to Cancellations. Here's where the nitty gritty begins.
First and foremost, be nice on the phone. Nice brings rewards.
Always, ALWAYS dig your hells in if you think you aren't getting a deal you want (50% is the initial, but if you can get more .... try).
If you do not get a good deal initially and they allow you to cancel, do so. They WILL ring you back in a couple of days and give you a much better deal. Nothing is in stone and you have only given them the required 30 days.
Reason? The sales rep (there is no such thing as Cancellations department, it's all Sales. Trust me) has either already given too many full discounts, or they have got their quota for the month already. Better bonuses for less discounts.
Hang in there. You will get a deal you want. You have 30 days. Or should I say, THEY have 30 days.
You are in control

2. Swap the sky into your wife/husband/partner's name, and back, every twelve months.
I began this a few years ago and still do this today. Reason? Because of the freebies of being a new customer.
Last year I was going to cancel and the offered me 50% off for 12 months. But putting it in my wife's name, I got 50% off for 12 months AND £125 in VISA vouchers!!
I explained that the the Cancellations(!) people and they agreed that there wasn't a way that it could be stopped.
Same surname, same bank account, same address. But the other half can be a 'new' customer.

I just spoke to the online as a new customer and they instantly offered 50% off for 12 months. That was the first offer
Couldn't get the TV, but got a free 2tb box.You don't ask, you don't get.
I was nice.

Summer is the best time to get a deal.
No football on and the movies are lacklustre

In part 2 do you fully cancel your sky subscription so you have no Sky TV for a few days? I'm very interested in your suggestion of changing it to your partners name for being a new customer, I don't get any discount for being a loyal customer of over 10 years, any advice would be appreciated thanks.

Phone Sky up
You currently have Sky in name A
You cancel it in name A, giving 30 days notice. You already pay up front with Sky, so you let it run out.
Thank them for their time but you want to leave. Don't agree to any deals, they are derisory.
The quicker you are off the phone the better.

I read this last night so I went on the online chat at Sky to find out what I could get

Go on the online chat as a new customer and you will instantly get 50% off, a new box and free installation, PLUS £100 prepaid Mastercard / £100 Amazon gift card / 32" free Samsung TV / Sonos speaker. Instantly.
They will give you a link in the chat window.
Here just put it in name B. Same address. Same bank account.
Give it a day, then phone Sky up in name B and ask the move the installation to the day of the cancellation of name A, as you are going on holiday

After that Sky will probably ring you for name A from retentions/sales and will always give you a maximum of 50% off
BUT ...
as a new customer, you get a shiny new box plus £100 to spend or a new TV AND you get 50% off. No brainer really.
This has worked for me for 6 years.

What Fogg has just posted will probably save you the same over 12 months and is also a good deal.

Sky is very much like a bank account / mortgage deal.
It doesn't matter if you have been with them for 20 years, brand new customers get the deals
