11 years sky has broadcast HD and they're still charging for it. Pure greed.

Not to be a negative Nancy, maths really isn't my strong point but if it was £27.50 for Sky Sports previously and now they've just taken that and divided it into 8 different portions for a total cost of £27.50, it's not really a saving, is it?

That said, it's a great option for people to pick and choose the actual sports they want to view for a reduced price. Heated of course.

Um, I think your last sentence is the whole point of the post.

yeah suppose it's just offering more "choice" still a bit of a rip off £18 for ONE channel. oO

Yes. I was literally just looking at it and realised what I had totally missed. I could see the deal initially and it's great for example if you just use the Sports for football. Like I say, I added heat for that part. I just struggled with 'From Tuesday 18th July 2017, new and existing customers can get Sky Sports from £18 extra a month (down from £27.50 extra a month)'.

My first sentence hopefully excused the rest

They've been a bit sneaky by having separate Premier League and Football (containing EFL, La Liga and internationals) channels.

yep if it was together then maybe would be a deal.

Does Sky ever offer good deals to existing customers unless they threaten to leave?

NO

£27.50/8 = £18.

I don't want Sky's calculator as it's clearly broken.

It's also a wasted opportunity. I know the Football rights are expensive, but charging a flat £18 per channel? madness.

If they were fair, put the football at a premium because they spend billions on them, and charged £10 each for the rest, they'd get more interest.

What about getting the channel in HD I guess that will be extra?

I got a 60% offer the other day for existing packages but that deal runs out on the 17th.interesting to see what offer they send next week

It's still quite expensive, really wish Sky would
buck up their ideas. This is why so many people stream illegally.

Sky Sports Premier League will be worth every penny when it's full of "classics" in the off season
Per channel rate looks like a great way to get money from fans of the less expensive sports.

401 is given over to a best of live sport channel!
401 – Sky Sports Main Event
The destination for the biggest live events
Live Premier League football plus international qualifiers and the biggest games from EFL and La Liga, F1®, Ryder Cup and Major golf, England Test cricket, international Rugby Union, World Darts Championship and more

Mix is also getting moved
121 – Sky Sports Mix
A window into the world of Sky Sports, bringing a selection of sports entertainment to all Sky customers.
Regular live football including La Liga, MLS and international qualifiers as well as a select number of Premier League and EFL matches. As well as support programming that will appeal to kids and family audiences, viewers can also enjoy live golf from Europe and the US, international cricket and much more.

Call me a cynic but does this mean you pay for the Premier League channel, for example, but they stick the big games on their Main Event channel, meaning you have to subscribe to that too?

That is exactly how I have interpreted it.

To be honest I don't think Sky have got enough sport to show to fill the current channels, I have seen F1 qualifying being shown on Sky Sports F1, Sky Sports 1 and Sky One all at the same time.

You can't subscribe to the Main Event Channel, you only get it if you have all the sports channels. Reading into it, it seems to be showing the same sports as the individual channels, but the Main Event channel will be sold to BT/Virgin I believe (rather than the full range of individual channels). So I think for Sky subscribers it is essentially a redundant channel.

I think even Sky would be pushing it to not show a PL game on the dedicated channel. Although, it will be interesting to see if the usual simultaneous final day games are available on a red button or pushed to a channel subscribers may not have

I was on 60%, last week it expired so phoned cancellation department. Went through the usual rigmarole they offered 50%, I stated I wasn't interested the operator went away to speak to his manager and said they'll apply 60% for a further 12 months.

10 channels all together

wait, so when two matches are on at the same time (it happens)) and previously you saw them on sport 1 & 2 now it iwll be on sky prem league and possibly sky football?
how annoying
still i have 18 months from two weeks ago to enjoy all sports and th variety pack for £22

Knowing them they probably have wwe raw on sky action and wwe smackdown on sky arena

The big problem is having to pay 22 quid (or whatever it is now) to get the basic cack channels, just to allow you to subscribe to the sports channels that you really want ! Ofc in practice its phone them up and negotiate a price which is half sensible.

What channel is WWE on? I know Raw & Smackdown are on Sky Sports 1 but is that it?

Can you watch these on your tv though?

I've just sorted sky sports (all channels) for £13.50 for next 6 months. Just off a phone call.

Still expensive, I pay £20 for Sky box set + movies and Cinema. If you don't haggle you don't get!

balluji

You can stream it to your tv via chromecast (i got chromecast in my nvidia shield). BT app is far better because you can turn off mobile screen while streaming to tv. In sky mobile screen must be on all the time.

Not a deal, they have just splitting it up
More people that stop paying sky, more they will realize to stop premier league soo much Money- they have ruined English football. i remember days when everything on sky was £30 month. i received a 60% discount letter. i binned it.

Oh you also have to take there Basic package on top of the £18, which i think is £22 month
Edited by: "chrismc20050" 15th Jul

Hope Virgin Media take this into account and reflect it on their SS pricing!!

Agree!!! And all this is going to the footballers with their inflated price tags!!

Also if you want to get Sky for F1 and watch it UHD, you must get mandatory sky multiroom for another £18 quid even if you don't need multiroom and Sky Q 2TB receiver which costs £200 seperately (only if you don't buy such deal directly with sky...but legit deals with sky direct don't exist).

When I tried to mirror sky go and sky sports it says HDMI output or like been disabled

I thought they where eliminating the need for the variety pack. This is a **** deal. Apparently you can take 3 channels at 26 but that's 48 a measly 6 less than the whole lot. Currently I am on 2 years free but you have to say you've got a better deal with bt TV and you can't take the broadband as you have 6 months left to run on it. Then they give you 50-100 credit but there has been times when I've been without service for 2 months where I illegally stream instead. There's people they **** and people who **** them nothing in-between nowadays pure greed on their part

Sky Go won't let you Chromecast it so I just plugged an HDMI cable between my laptop and big screen and mirrored the main desktop and it worked fine. That was Windows 10 and possibly Windows 7 too.
