Could this be chipped and free sky forever?

the 200 channels are so ****!

do you need a BT line still for Sky?

IMO You'd be better to wait for freesat to launch next week where you'll be getting HD channels without subscription and no $ky

For those puzzled by the allusion to Freesat - it's a BBC/ITV/etc venture launching next week!

See freesat.co.uk/hom…php
(although that official website is playing it decidedly cool about the launch or its date - they have a 2nd website ready to launch - see digitalspy.co.uk/for…142

You can see some of the boxes on the Argos website already - search for Freesat at www.argos.co.uk

voted hot not got sky, surely it would cost you this for 4 sky mixes on their own.

yeah but sky will still have more channels than freesat?

could i get tjhis, and then decide to have the sports now and again?

sky give a host of free foreign channels which some people find appealing, pity virgin 1 and e4 are stopped after the intial period of 4 months even thou they are available on freeview

is adult swim/cartoon network available on this sky deal or will it be available on freesat? any anime channels? am i asking for too much? :geek:

4 months of 4 Sky Entertainment Mixes are for first 4 months. After that they charge £19 per month.

This is a not really a good deal. Sky themselves dont honour this and start debiting money or send u a bill after 4 months even sometimes wen u have told them u just want freeview. Sky is trying to increase its customer base and obviously are looking for £££.

On top of that wen u call them and tell u have taken this offer they dont understand this since they only understand min 12 mths contracts.

Nobodys here to do charity, my advice, take this with a pinch of salt.

It's ok as a starter but why does it now say one off payment £75..??

Yes - you can switch-on any aspect of Sky, (Sports, Movies, other mixes), once a month subject to one month subscription.

john

I went for exactly this deal last week. All good stuff so long as you remember to cancel your subscription at least 30 days before your 4 months are up, else you pay £19/month and (rumour has it) you could then be locked in to a 12 month contract. Best thing to do is to cancel the direct-debit early before you try to cancel the free-deal with Sky. At least then you are sure they can't take your cash!

On the plus side, I am assuming that my Sky dish installed as part of this package will work with BBC/ITV Freesat when it's launched next week assuming I get a BBC/ITCV Freesat box. If that is the case then maybe you should just look at it as a cheap way of getting a dish installed ready for a decent Freesat system .....

Note: Although there are 200+ channels available with Sky Freesat, IMHO they are mainly complete cr*p .......

Could i in an old fashioned way pay cash therefore they (sky) are unable to dip into me bank.

because you have to use the code the OP originally said, 'SKY10'

A while back Dixons or Curry's or Comets were doing a £75 install with a free hi-fi or cordless phone thrown in. This doesn't seem QUITE as good but probably the best around at this time. Might be worth hanging on for a while in view of freesat.
I think I'll wait till the competition hots up.
Worse case scenario is that I will have to pay the full £75.

where can i find the complete list of the free channels for this deal or the upcoming freesat?

We got sky plus box free last mth on a deal and will be stopped subscription after 12 mths just keeping the 200 free channels and the box (which is fab for recording) but was a bit gutted that you don't get some of the normal freeview channels - I presumed you would.

My top tip for this deal -

Pay the £67.50 for this deal, get the install done, wait till 3 months are up then cancel it with 30 days notice for the end of the 4th month then walk into any store and pick up a Freesat box.

You get 4 months sky and free professional install of a dish that will work perfectly with your Freesat box...

against my advice my neigbour got himself a chipped cable box after only 1 month its dead the seller has vanished and virgin media went in his house yesterday(he did not hide the box)the fool

Someone else has my ingenuity - nuff respect!

Also once you have got this box you can sign for Setanta for £9.99 per month, with a £14.99 connection fee. As well as the Sentanta Sports channel that you get with them on Freeview, you also get other channels like NASN for American Sports (NHL!) and Setanta Sports Ireland for gaelic games

The list of channels haven't been finalised yet for the BBC/ITV Freesat as it hasn't launched yet.

spanner82 - If you stop the contract after 12 months you lose the recording function unless you pay the £10 subscription for it.

Also - slip the installer a crisp £20 note and get him to install the twin 'shotgun' coax instead of single coax so you can get a Freesat PVR working when they're released...

Sounds like a good plan!

Cack deal, Sky isn't a good freeview alternative - they don't even give you E4.

Spend 20 sheets on a high gain aerial or wait for freesat

yup. i do find it odd when people are saying wait for freesat, if you want freesat, then get this. you get a dish up, a possibility of a quad lnb, and the option to plug in a freesat box whenever you want.

of course, you may have to offer some cash to the installer to get the quad lnb, i am not certain what skys standard option is these days

i agree, free sat from sky may have alot of channels, but most of them are terrible.
even though freeview has much less channels, they are in general better quality.

I would wait a few days for the launch of the BBC/ITV freesat.

free HD channels for life.
at the moment it is just BBC HD, possibly ITV HD, with the addition of more as time goes on eg Channel 4 HD

I'm sure this was cheaper when it was just Freesat, same channels and all... (**** channels though :-()

Hmm...

If you want quad LNB, then £80 (]Argos) installation may work out cheaper though...
These seems to be the latest on the Freesat (not Freesatfromsky) channel line-up:digitalspy.co.uk/dig…tml

Freeview is enough for me.

Waiting for the Freesat from BBC boxes to drop in price then i shall ditch Sky.I am not paying an HD sub to Mr Murdoch when i can get BBCHD free.

Does anyone know if you will be able to buy boxes with recording capabilities on the new freesat?

I have skyplus at the moment so all the quad cables i need.
