Thanks for posting @ricky.jay and welcome to HUKD
well the £50 bill credit will only cover you for 3 months, but i suppose you've got it a pound a month cheaper for the rest of the time and the boxing PPV on top so it's decent enough

Yes the total cost for the 12 months will be equivalent to £11.83
Better off getting now tv these days unless your bothered about the sound and picture quality overly
I have sky Broadband and they have increased the price. So to get one of the retention deals(or cancel) I try to cancel but it says please chat online and its been busy for the whole last week. I will be giving them a call. Just way too much hassle.
So better deals are still available on TV including account credit - that is good to know thank you.

£50 account credit is better than others have reported recently so three months free is good news.

I live in hope that the 75% off and £100 account credit offer (without a new contract) that I got last year will return.

I phoned sky on behalf of my grandparents today. They are out of contract, the deal they were on had expired and now paying full price. I asked if the can just cut down to phone and broadband and lose the tv, was told the cheapest they could do was £31. I'll be phoning up on Monday and canceling, for them. That was through the retention team too. Very hit and miss

You need to actually start the cancellation process with sky, they will then phone you within 2 weeks with a better deal to get you to stay. That's pretty much the only way to get a decent deal with them now.

Yeah I did mention that I'd look around and see what other deals are about. To be fair they were nice but just not budging on their price even tho there's better deals on their own website for phone and broadband.
Out of curiosity, they did say my grandparents are out of contract since December, but have a deal/offer currently on their tv package( tv they've never used ). This doesn't affect their ability to leave penalty free?

always cancel first before speaking to anyone. you can change your mind within 30 days so youre not risking losing anything. youll usually get some kind of 25% off deal appear on your account almost straight away. you can check for it on the sky box under account settings, or there will be a text/email. let them stew for a bit then after a day or two speak to someone. give them a call or try the chat. theyll give you a much better offer once the cancellation process is underway. you should be able to negotiate a discount and some kind of account credit. probably get an upgrade to Sky Q too if you dont already have it.
What a wonderful and heart-warming story.
I have two questions
1) can u get sky TV without landline
2) do they pass users info to capita tvl ppl
Last time I had sky was in 2005
If the answer is No to both then I'm gonna consider them

If you can wait 1-2 weeks retention team will definitely come back to you with better offer !Goodluck
If you phone and cancel your sky contract and then login to your account 5 mins later you’ll be offered 50% off to re-join.. then when you click it will change to 60% off.. then go online chat and they usually then offer sport hd for free on top.. this has been the way for years and the only way to get the biggest sky discount.. Plus you’re still within the 30 day cancellation period so no tv down time

I got the email about price rises last week. Managed to get on chat to cancel and instead of my price going up they reduced it by £2.50pm and increased my speed 😁

I'd never have got my deal had they not offered my Dad the exact same thing three days before, they'd never do a deal that good. I gave his name and address and told him to check.

yes i'm aware of what 'equivalent' means thankyou but in the "real" world, this is 3 months for free which is still decent.
These deals are very hit and miss and usually specfic to individuals.
Cancelled mine last weekend, Sky didn't even try to offer me any deal to stay they , just cancelled it within minutes.
Easiest cancellation ever

I received my letter about price rise last day of February, and ive spent quite a lot of time trying to get through on live chat.A couple of times it has said connecting but this went on for over an hour so both occasions i stopped the chat.Earlier this week i got a email from sky with a ONE DAY OFFER ONLY broadband £16 pm.I didnt take it and continue to try live chat.I cant understand why this deal is so cold, yes its a retention deal but as someone else said if there not posted you dont have a bench mark of what you can get.I had the box set deal with BB until last year at £19 pm including line rental and on renewal they wouldnt go lower than 30 something pounds so i cancelled it.and left , and got just BB 2 months later.

Yes some people don’t understand and they will just mark it as cold
Agree it does not matter if its a retention deal. It gives folk an idea of when to say yes when negotiating a new deal.
My contract is up next month so anyone who has just sorted out a good retention deal please post. As 'amoulden' put it gives a good indication on what is on offer at the moment.
With the F1 season back next week I've been trying to get a good deal since my 75% off expired last year and I left.

The best they have offered me to come back with my old Sky+HD equipment is about £33 a month for Entertainment, Boxsets and Sport in HD. If I remember correctly, it was about £39 for the "complete" bundle with cinema too.

If I wanted to come back to Sky Q it was £49 for the same Ent/Box/Sport (but with Multiscreen for the UHD) but the 2tb box and 1 mini was free.

I agree but would prefer if posters would contribute to the existing excellent and ongoing thread rather than everyone who gets a retention offer posting a new 'deal'.

Has this happened recently (e.g - this year?) Having been on a 60% off deal using that technique in the past, i was under the impression those offers are not readily available like that anymore.

Thanks OP. Just confirmed that i made the right deal in cancelling my contract as they were trying to fob me off with a crap "offer."
I have had a retention deal in the past couple of weeks:

I was paying about £65 a month for the entertainment HD bundle, along with boxsets, phone and broadband.

I spoke to a guy in the retention department and got a 'deal' of £60 a month for everything I had previously plus all the sports channels, as a massive F1 fan I wanted to keep that as well as Comedy Central and Fox. I tried everything to get it cheaper but he was not having any of it.

Do you think I should cancel this (as I am in the 30 day cooling off period) and see if they will give me a better deal?

Thanks

Yes I used this method January this year. Also got a 30 day rolling contract when I tried to cheek more than 60% on live chat lol, so no commitment to big contracts
Called me at least 10x after I canceled TV. Stopped after I told them that I record the call and gonna sue them if they call again.

To add to the knowledge.

Best we’ve had recently is 50% off for 2 contracts that cancelled (one was in dec, one a few weeks ago). Which equated to £40/month for our package, everything in HD (old box).

For first household another family member got a comeback offer of 60% plus £25 credit, £32/month for same package.

In process of sorting other house. But that one has option of virgin so in stronger position.

Both contracts were coming off 75% off plus £100 credit offer.

These posts def help with negotiating. If you don’t like them, don’t look at them
