Sky Unlimited BB and Line Rental £7.50/month for 12m retention deal

Found 8th Aug 2015
My contract for Sky came to an end and managed to get a £7.50 per month deal for BB and line rental on retention. The deal work as 12 months free line rental and paying the 7.50 for bb. Think it's a decent deal that does not taking a gamble on cashback deals.

Did you just have sky bb unlimited originally ,my contract ends next month

I also managed to get a really good deal last week, they gave me free unlimited broadband and gave me line rental at just £5, both for 12 months. (went through Live chat, I rang twice and they offered me next to nothing to stay)

Also got the family bundle, hd sports all for £56 a month for 12 month. Should be £96

That's is really great, I tried to haggle half price BB too (to reduce costs to 3.75/mo) but scottish girl wouldn't go for it.

I thought the offers they gave me on Live chat were much better than over the phone. They kept saying they couldn't do much for me apart from half price bb and 15% off my tv package. Even with asking to cancel. Live chat, as soon as I mention I couldn't afford the price they started offering me bigger discounts. Hard work when you get someone who doesn't want to budge as they clearly can

Yeah, I could have pushed harder, think I wasn't assertive enough!

Mine works Ok for youtube and browsing, if you're having problems, give them a call.

Was that a retentiond deal? What are you paying in total for the rest of your package, or did you get quidco/new cust deal which made it free? Mine is a retention deal so a bit different.

BT home hub wouldn't let desktops or laptops connect, just mobile phones. BT wouldn't even accept there was a problem..

every time i try live chat it says its busy try later

£56 a month isn't great to be honest

might want to check out the thread below for next time, a lot of us are paying £23/m for everything + multiroom

This can be good only for existing customers . Not for new ones.

When I phoned to renew/leave I was offered £50 account credit & then pay £16.40 line rental after the credit was used up. I got that offer back in April.

I should really mention retention in the main header

Usually the deals are for new customers only and not retained customers, so I can't begrudge them this deal.

our sky BB has not been too great in the last 6 months, keep cutting off and not connecting back for ages and its getting more frequent, we thinking of leaving

Good to know - my contract is ending next month too. Do you have to wait until the contract ends before telling them that your leaving (and for them to be able to offer you a retention deal)?

I was on sky live chat asking the same thing yesterday. Mine ends on 1 October. I presume you tell them 30 days before contract ends?

My £5 a month family HD deal ends next month, sadly this is the first time in 4 years I couldn't get it better than 50% off so cancelled and gone over to BT which had £120 quidco and £100 sainsburies voucher making unlimited fibre, phone, line rental, and you view plus box with HD the equiv of £17 a month. If you're paying more than £30 a month for sky, give your head a wobble

Never had a problem with cashback sites. You can get sky broadband for about £10 for the year with Topcashback. I even got sky with hd and the family pack totally free last year.

I got sky broadband, line rental and a complete sky package yesterday for £59. Every channel! Hopefully sky are better than BT who have been awful the last 18 months. Them raising their line rental made it easy for me to leave and go to sky.

Yeah I noticed the call centres are acting strange aswell!? Offering rubbish deals in retention?? Lowest I could get was £26 for fibre for 12 months and recording service on box (didn't really want TV)

But normally they would offer all kinds to retain you!

Probably some new plum manager in charge...lol he about to get fired once they see how many contracts are being lost!!

Phone up and threaten to cancel. Say you have heard of people being offered 7.50 for sky fibre (I was offered this a few months ago) and you would be willing to try it. It's a really good service.

Currently on Sky Unlimited BB, getting 13mb download speeds. Does this deal come under Fibre as well?

Do you have to be at the end of your contract for this? Mine doesn't expire until the new year although I've been considering fibre anyway tbh.

Thats a good deal. Im on Virgin media 50mb. In the last 7 years been qith them my line has only dropped twice. But i might use this deal to haggle mine down.

It's a lottery switching to any ISP. I get a slightly faster speed on Sky than my neighbour on BT and I pay less. We are rural, so neither is very fast. I had to deal with the helpdesk the other week. That's always enough to drive you nuts. They are overly polite, but completely useless. The issue (drop outs) did not get resolved. His suggestions were so ridiculous I just hung up. But all ISP helpdesks are manned by muppets.

Good deal I only managed to haggle £5 off line rental and £5 off unlimited bb.

That's cable though, totally different and a far superior product to Sky, BT etc.

Or at least it would be if Virgin didn't seem to be on an endless mission to nerf it into uselessness.

got a good deal with Virgin! fibre optic broadband (100mb) and talk unlimited. for £32 (just saying, I know this is about Sky) I have sky TV and pay £12 a month for family and HD (Well I did until I just seen my bill!!)

I got line rental and BB through live chat for £12.50 for 12 months

If any of you have a TV subscription that's due to end soon and you cancel it this will affect any BB & line rental deal they offer you as I found out the other day was pay £16.40 for TV BB & line rental now gone up to £25 month for just me BB & line rental

I don't know about fibre, may be able to haggle for it, this is ADSL. have a look at what kind of offer others have got and see the typical price thay should be paid.

Yes, when you get to end of contract, tell them you have seen a cheaper deal and get them to match it. I told them I could get Plusnet for £~7-8/month after all the incentives as a new cust so she gave me a similar priced deal. Probably could have pushed more, but bottled it a bit.

Don't apologise for chppin in. I find these deals make people think about all options, so another one and the info is useful. Is your Virgin deal for a limited time/set contract period?.

Hi no, we rang them exactly one month before our contract was due for renewal, they wouldn't offer us any discount before then, definitely try live chat though and push for it. My brother in law had just signed up with Sky as a new customer and had really good new customer offers, I told them what he was offered and they beat the price for us
