I've been with Sky before and their speed was fine to be honest, I think speed/connection reliabilty is just one of those things where it will differ from person to person.

Great deal, but unlimited broadband would be woefully slow in my household, great if you aren't a heavy user, and for that very reason I've voted smoking hot!

YMMV. I get 3Mbps on Sky, my brother gets 12Mbps! Depends where you are.
Exactly. It all about how far junction box is.
I have been with sky for few years.never had any major issues.
As more and more people moving to Fiber BB ,ADSL is getting better.
Great deal if cashback is paid.

I guess you are unfortunate with where you live. Sky provide broadband through the openreach network so you’ll have ‘painful slow’ broadband with all providers that also use the openreach network
£25 a month for fibre with £110 cashback plus £50 reward
When I used to work for BT I'd have some old lady in the backend of Oxfordshire moan about 2mb. Because her son thats 80 in the city...

Can't have the peacefulness of the country with city like access.
Sky is the best ISP I have ever used. I stay with the unlimited whilst all around me people are getting fibre.

Yeah. It's really down to location and hardware from your house to exchange.

Their alright if you use a vpn. At least they don't balls your bills up every month like talktalk.
Is this valid for new or existing customers or both?

I concur, had them for years with both fibre and ADSL...no probs whatsover...moved to plusnets ADSL and on peak times, especially weekends, saw significant drop in speeds...which was puzzling as it's not like i had moved house ...and apparently plusnets network was piggybacked on BT

I've been with Sky BB for a few years now. Its only dropped twice and was fixed within an hour each time. Really happy with the speed and service.
Isn't broadband just like gas and electricity insofar as the quality (speed) doesn't change depending on who your supplier is?

e.ON electricity isn't better than nPowers.

When I moved into my new house about a year ago it didn't matter who I went with for broadband, the estimated speeds were all the same.
With any non fibre broadband line service will depend on where you live I guess. I used to get on average 12mbps. Now I am with Plusnet as its cheaper, but the speed seems a bit more stable than Sky.

Also it depends on ones need. I am fine for my purposes with this speed and dont require fibre atm.

I dealt with Sky when last year on a similar offer and as a company they are decent to deal with. They even sent an engineer free who fixed my inside phone socket. Also you get some perks like a free DVD from their collection.

Says £30 on the site.

says just £25 p/m for 18 months plus a £50 reward (£9.95 Set up fee) on tcb but when you click on the link it says £59.95 set up fee. must be a misprint on the tcb site
That cheap fibre deal also has usage restrictions - the £30 one is unlimited.
What is the monthly cost before the mastercard and cashback ?
£18

Yeah must be them factors why mine was so slow, it took over 10 minutes to download apps from appstore .. could not deal with it

The gas & elec is the same no matter what is printed on the letterhead.

Broadband not necessarily so. Some areas have fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) eg Virgin, fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) eg BT INFINITY, cable (coaxial cable) eg Virgin older areas, etc.

Almost all areas have (or can get) standard copper wire ADSL/ADSL2+ broadband, eg BT, Plusnet, Vodafone etc.

So broadband speeds will differ depending on the underlying tech. Even services using the same tech can differ depending on contention ratios, Local Loop Unbundling (LLU), traffic shaping, throttling, fair usage policies, etc.

And even when the tech is the same and services identical, the router they send you can make a difference (certainly on wifi reach and speeds).

So broadband buyer beware.

This is because bt sell a portion of the cable coming in to other providers to piggy back as you say. So say bt give plusnet 10% it’s fine when only 5 plus net customers are online during the day but when 50 customers from plusnet come online. That 10% doesn’t stretch as far. That’s why it’s always best to check what providers are in your exchange and go with one of them as they connection drop is very very minimum. Bt, sky, talk talk are normally the ones in a unbundled exchange as it is known.

Rude and ironic comment.

Wouldn’t call it rude or ironic. He made a dumb comment and I thought I’d tell him.
Can't get sky as we got Fibre to Premises and BT has monopoly in it. Anyone here has same issue?
