I just had an email about this and thought although there was a post over a year ago relating to this that its worth a repost

Making free Skype-to-Skype calls is great. But did you know you can use Skype to call landlines and mobiles at great, low cost rates as well?

For instance, you can get unlimited calls to landlines* with one of our monthly subscriptions. You can choose just one country (even your own), a region or more than 40 countries worldwide. Prices start from just 3.39 GBP / 4.54 EUR / 6.85 USD per month.

Works out a really cheap deal, maybe those who use it can give me some feedback on it as to whether its got any catches.

I read it though and i cant seem to see any bad points?

does it include 0870's and the rest of those kind of call centre numbers?

I been using this for about 8 months, quite an old deal. plus 25% Quidco

Says this in relation to astrix, not many phone company's with exception to BT include premium numbers, but i use saynotto0870 most of the time anyway unless there is really no alternative.

A fair usage policy applies. Excludes service, special, premium and non-geographic numbers.

cheap calls to countries that are NOT included on the lists:

Example:
Cyprus landline only 4 EuroCents per min
Cyprus Mobiles only 6 EuroCents per min

Might just go on PayAsYouGo as i, like most others, get free calls on my home and dect phone to Landlines and some mobiles anyway, so maybe not worth subscribing 4 me.

Does anyone know if Skype credit expires or rolls on month after month?

Aren't these free on BT now anyway?

I compared Skype many times and always found that any third party service such as 0844 200 xxxx is cheaper than Skype. Fees range from 0.5p to 1p per minute (e.g. Cyprus = 0.5 ppm).

Many over ride services need a BT line, as I have Virgin broadband I use Skype with a Skype phone not connected to my computer and have used their UK free calls service for a couple of years now. On the whole good, but sometimes call quality is echoey and sometimes you need to redial as it cuts off after one ring. (Often this is because the line was engaged).
I even used it in the US to call US mobiles so instead of paying £'ss an minute to call a US mobile from a UK mobile I paid about 2p a minute so saved a packet.
I also use a 3 skype mobile phone to call my skype number and it diverts to a my UK home number for free. So pay as You go in 3 becomes a very reasonable option if you have a skype account.

Well you pay the very tiny monthly subscription, then you get unlimited calls to landlines and even mobiles in some countries.
You get a fairness limit of 8 hours a day though.

I think the limit is 6 hours a day not 8.

I don't think it is actually a good deal as you can have free calls to many of the EU countries if you top up £10 in Voipdiscount. Furthermore, the unlimited countries selection is not included every country in the world, only a limited number of them. So it is a bit cold from me I am afraid.

They say 6 hours, but it actually cuts off at 8 hours

Shame it doesn't include a free online number anymore. My card expired and it would only allow to renew with the same card so I had to start a new subscription minus the number

I pay yearly and its 22 quid i think
