Skyrim (PC) with Creation Kit & High Res DLC - Steam Midweek Sale

Found 7th Feb 2012
Skyrim's on sale again (PC), for those who missed it on Greenmangaming's very short sale!

They just released the creation kit (allows modding) and high res texture pack (3GB download!) with it too.

I had a -33% Bethesda coupon, so I got it for £15. Check your Steam inventory to see if you got any coupons in the Christmas sale event!

You can also get the whole Elder Scrolls collection for £31 if you fancy it.

If anyone's got a spare Bethesda 33% off coupon from the Christmas sale I'd be eternally greatful. My Steam ID is Penetratorius. This is a great deal voted hot!

ta for the heads up on the texture pack!

Yep, and if you're familiar with Oblivion mods, you'll know the crazy amount of awesome stuff that is gonna come out for Skyrim now that the Creation Kit has been released!

Yep, if you had the choice and chose a console version instead you will regret it.

ill swap 2 steam 33% vouchers for 1 bethesda coupon anyone?

Nearly shat when I saw the texture pack, the whole game is 5.5gb but the texture pack is 3.5gb... can't wait for it to download!

Have Bethesda fix the lagging issues yet.

They very recently came out with a new patch that helped a lot of people. I'd say it's definitely the right time to bite if you're on PC.

Even if you already have this on console, buy it for PC if you're a fan! Why? I'm dead serious; the modding content in Oblivion more than doubled the game's lifespan (easily!)... Skyrim's modding scene is most likely going to be even bigger and better. It's crazy what they came out with. You'll see stuff from simple mods to complete overhauls and transformations.

Weird, it didn't seem to download anything extra at all for the texture pack in Steam for me. It is showing up as DLC under the game's options though.

Anyone know why?

Do you already own the game? It may have downloaded in the background while you were away. It downloads in a compressed form, so while it may be 3 GB unpacked, you won't actually download that much. You can check how much space Skyrim takes up on your HD. If it's 8 GB like me, then you most likely have the texture pack installed.

Im also looking for a coupon. I'll give a whole bunch of coupons in return. My account is Hungry_Howie

oh i am so tempted to get this now but i already have this on 360

It only downloads when you try and launch the game - but the servers are melting at the mo

You can use that -25% Bethesda coupon you already have on Skyrim. Obviously it would be even better if you could get a higher coupon (like a -33% or -50%), but -25% still isn't bad if you don't find anyone to trade with.

By the way, for those who want the Creation Kit, it's in the Tools section on Steam. Alternatively, you can install it by following this link (this will open up Steam).

Hmm decisions decisions.
I'm really pleased with all my modding efforts, wonder if the texture pack will surprise or disappoint...

There's a hi res pack? What the hell does the regular install have then??

Yeah i was hoping for a 33% or higher but if all else fails i can get it for about 17.60 so not bad.

Please tell me, how do you get Steam coupons in the first place?

When Steam have special promotions on its usually xmas and summer.

I had this on the xbox too and i have to say that the pc version is so much better in every way that it seems like a HD remake for the next generation of consoles, probably even more so now that the HD pack is out. I also heavily recommend the following mods:

skyrim.nexusmods.com/dow…863
skyrim.nexusmods.com/dow…929
skyrim.nexusmods.com/dow…862
skyrim.nexusmods.com/dow…193

I REALLY reccommend this one
skyrim.nexusmods.com/dow…131

Use the nexus download manager to install/uninstall them automatically, its extremely fiddly to install and uninstall them all manually. I'm curious to see what the Creation Kit and Steam Workshop bring to the table!

I'm assuming Skyrim on PC is not GFWL?

Thank the Lord no. Vanilla is/was horrible though.

Anyone want to trade their 25% off Bethesda coupon for a 25% off Valve coupon?

Yep, I already run all of those as well as...

Realistic Water Textures - skyrim.nexusmods.com/dow…711
Skyrim HD 2K Textures - skyrim.nexusmods.com/dow…607
Skyrim Flora Overhaul - skyrim.nexusmods.com/dow…141

Initial comments from users that have already tried Bethesda's HD texture pack have found it inferior to user created ones (like some of those listed above) and so have reverted back. However, since it's free, try both and see which one you like

anyone want to trade a Valve -25%, idSoftware -33% and a copy of Half Life 2 for a Bethesda voucher? Private message me if you do!

this is hot hot hot stuff

I have a 50% off Valve I could trade for a bethesda voucher. PM me if you are interested.

Got a copy of frozen synapse and a 50% valve voucher if anyone wants to trade me a Bethesda voucher - pm me if interested.

I also forgot to mention I have a spare Dead Island key to trade for a Bethesda voucher.

May as well ask too. I have Half Life 2 and HL2: Episode 1 to giveaway for any bethesda codes. (I know everyone will probably have those games already lol)

So how do I get hi-res without Steam? I already have the game.
