Spensa's world has been under attack for hundreds of years. An alien race called the Krell leads onslaught after onslaught from the sky in a never-ending campaign to destroy humankind. Humanity's only defense is to take to their ships and fight the enemy in the skies. Pilots have become the heroes of what's left of the human race.

Spensa has always dreamed of being one of them; of soaring above Earth and proving her bravery. But her fate is intertwined with her father's - a pilot who was killed years ago when he abruptly deserted his team, placing Spensa's chances of attending flight school somewhere between slim and none.

No one will let Spensa forget what her father did, but she is still determined to fly. And the Krell just made that a possibility. They've doubled their fleet, making Spensa's world twice as dangerous . . . but their desperation to survive might just take her skyward . . .

Who generally writes books ?????
I read an advanced review copy of this, it's a great book. Young adult, but perfectly enjoyable for adults too. Sci-fi (Sanderson is usually more fantasy which I don't enjoy as much) and great characters. I can't say who my favourite is without spoilers, but there's some funny snappy dialogue and a good plot, it's a lot of fun and absolutely worth 99p.

Authors?

Think you're missing a word in your description.

"...written by someone..." "good?" "special?"

All books are written by someone!
This was on my Amazon wishlist and shows as '£12.99 when added'. Now bought. Thank you op.

Hilarious! Lol
Great book as expected from Sanderson, really enjoyed my time with for 99p you can't go wrong
I should probably read more Sanderson, he did well finishing the Wheel of Time and making the switch in author's almost seamless (although him reducing Matt to comic relief was annoying). Mistborn was enjoyable but a bit flawed; it felt a bit too simplistic and the world didn't feel living and breathing.

Currently reading the Malazan books and thinking of dropping them. I'm never good with names in books and I've never read any series that floods you with an endless stream of names (and it's written in a style where new characters don't get obvious introductions so you can never be sure if someone's a new character).
I listened to the audio book if this and it was brilliant. I was hooked from the start. Definitely recommended.

Where can you get this please?
Sanderson does a great job at engaging you into new world after new world. Really interesting development.
