3 mobile are giving free ones with x series gold
'giving' ? i had a look at this and from what i can gather your tied into a 18 month contract at about £30 pcm? So just over £500 quid..? any cheque back on that bellamy?
£10 a month for unlimited internet, on top of a 3 mobile plan, £15 or more.
a for cash back, £117.50 actually all without any redemption vouchers
It must be, or the product would be pointless, unless it is compressed and decompressed for transmitting, by the slingbox software?
Sling box is brilliant coupled with three.co.uk x-series, you can watch & control your sky box from mobile anywhere you have three coverage. Most useful feature for me is to schedule and record the program remotely, that means i never miss my favourate programs
not seen it cheaper except svp, and they have no stock and it's not much cheaper anyway... think it's shell out or wait till xmas time/ jan sales.
don't know, but my mate in korea set one up at his mums to watch sky, freeview, tv, he said it's fine and his parents only have basic broadband.
Do you have a link to this? Doesnt mention anything here:
three.co.uk/xse…omp
Great piece of kit, only worried about "fair usage" policy of some ISP's.
It's on the GOLD
pick an xseries deal... follow links as if buying.... when in basket, check the options it's the 4th xseries addon
the deal I posted with free slingbox
I'm interested because these devices were originally designed in the US where typically upstream speeds are the same as download speeds (in the uk, regardless of bandwidth advertised by your ISP, the upload speed is unlikely to exceed 512 Kbps).
Thanks
Yes I see it. Im already on 3 so for me the option would be for me to buy this and purchase 3's mobile broadband. What if the missus is at home watching TV at the same time, does that mean we have to watch same channel?
Suppose you still have to pay for an internet connection there.
wifi hot spot
dunno if you need to watch the same, maybe you can watch freeview/ sky whilst wife watches the other?
Thanks, i saw your 3 deal yesterday, love the slingbox but no need for another phone contract yet :? Had a look at some sites yesterday for the box on it's own, and J Lewis is the cheapest. Ebay was around £110 + P&P
I would just order it from amazon for £95 delivered and not have to mess with vouchers.
I was just out of my o2 contract early, because they broke the agreement.
wanted a new deal and love gadgets. so I'm well happy. stroke of luck with the quidco etc

Note - this is NOT my listing - am just trying to help people save money
Never mind - link doesnt work. Do a search for Slingbox on flea bay and its a BIN price.

Good value though considering you get unlimited web browsing, skype calls, slingbox, orb etc for this price (and 3 are up and running with HSDPA now so it all actually works!)
I got my free slingbox by going into a 3-store, I had to speak to 3 customer service first (did it whilst I was in the shop) to get the xseries add-on put onto my account and then the bloke in the shop just checked that it had been successfully added and gave me the slingbox.
The only downside to running it is that it won't play full screen so doesn't make the most of my N95 display, instead the image only occupies about half of the available display area with a big 'Slingbox' banner underneath.
I would say, get on to cheapest three tariff. Buy slingbox from johnlewis or elsewhere, upgrade to X-series (you are not tied to any contract) and get a decent PDA style phone with HSDPA support and enjoy full blown service.
And is cable (128k) upload adequate? Any problems with usage limits on cable broadband?
Not many compatible Three handsets for sling unfortunately

The Eurovox ey :whistling:
True, but the N95 does work and isn't on their list (despite 3 selling the phone in a big 'X-Series' box!). I think you need the 3 firmware on the phone for it all to work properly though (not just any old sim free one).
The software neogates bandwith to suit the connection ie LAN or WAN, WIRELESS etc
Yeah Jake i did look at SVP and would have posted them but there out of stock like you said and with the quidco you can get it cheeper than SVP
Hehe, i spent a while looking also and this was the best price (with voucher of cause)
I've been using this site for about 2 years, but figured it's about time I gave something back.
The HD side is only useful if using on your own LAN, over the internet unless you have a massive upload then it will be pointless.
They only use bandwidth when connected to, but if you were connected to all the time then it would just use whatever upload you have available.
There is a setting so you can optimise the the bandwidth automatically against the connection, or alternatively you can fix this at whatever you like.
Majority of ISP's only care about downloads not uploads, so you should not be affected.
Originally I was on a 256 Kbps upload speed - this was watchable but not great. I moved to Sky (Flakey Net /Easynet) as they have 768 Kbps & its now pretty good even for sports (although SKY BB is not very reliable IMHO)
Overall these are great. I travel a lot & use in hotel rooms abroad. And I also use around the house/garden with the laptop (This is where the HD model would be useful to me)
Answered quite a few questions i couldnt, i keep getting tempted to buy a sky plus box with the sling box..!! bit to much expendature for this month though
