not worth £9

Yes it is, good film. besides the point though.

Right enough it's not worth £9 if you can get it for less, can you?

I'd rather stick red hot needles in my eye.

Horses for courses! You play with the needles and rest of us will watch the film.

Quality film IMHO. Take it this is DVD and not Blue Ray? That would be a good price

gonna be cheaper at tesco

film is crap compared to the book
which is actually who wants to be a billionaire.

Its a terrible film.

It was made worse when someone called it the quintesential british film. I mean wtf, it was about indians?????

Too expensive for the people in the slums to buy.

Is slumdog millionaire going to be £12.99 @ tesco on monday on blu ray?, As i caught the last 2 seconds of an advert for slumdog millionaire @ tesco which had a picture of the blu ray & £12.99 underneath it. But i'm not sure if it was FROM £12.99 (eg £12.99 for dvd)

Thought it was a truly brilliant film but will not be buying it as the Indian child actors are still struggling in their slums. You would think out of mortality with the success so therefore wedge of cash they got they would have done something about it.

Good deal though..

they did, they got houses now, have a goggle, it happened in the last few days

the danny boyle guy just wanted cheap labour, get these kids to do it for a cup of tea, then back to their slum house i guess :?

Who said morality had anything to do with making money? First rule of business, there is no such thing as morality! (In other words to make money you have to be greedy and arrogant).

the Danny Boyle guy was the one who flew out a few days ago t o sort it out.

Excellent film, from a great book which was called Q & A .

Would be interested in the blu at 12.99, hope you saw that right

Poo film (formulaic, predictable, inconsistent) but a reasonably good deal.

Whoever stuffs the brown envelope with the most money surprisingly wins.

I would rather stick needles in your eyes, just for being so pointless

Or whoever produces the best film wins.

I suppose it's money though, since your one of a select handful that think so and you're obviously right.

I'll never understand why people feel the need to criticize such highly rated movies. It just makes you look stupid imo.

It was just a nicer way of saying what I really think about this film.

You don't have to like it, you just don't have to be a douche about it. Simple no?

Don't forget you are in the minority, so

i sold slumdog on blu ray 2 weeks ago for £22, but was us version, good price if comes out for this:thumbsup:

I think this is a great deal personally And to those who say it's too predictable - how many twists and turns can you really expect from something based on 'Who wants to be a Millionaire'. The real allure comes from how well it all comes together. The soundtrack, editing, pacing and indeed story all seem to be on such intimate terms that the end result of the mix is a mezmorising joy to the senses. A mastery of modern day cinematic composition.

Now I haven't read the book, and to it's credit I've heard it has a better narrative than the film. But, did anyone really want or expect a whole book to be condensed into a standard 2 hour film? It never happens, stuff gets lost in translation and other things get buffed up in the transformation process.

Slumdog it seems, has become a victim of it's own success, where it has become fashionable to go against the grain and basically **** it off. Of course there are some who genuinely didn't like it (like my house mate) but remember, just because you don't like it doesn't make it bad - I mean I can't see the big deal over Mozart, but does that make his stuff shite? I think not.

This was a good film i think, im indian and have been to india and seen for my self 'the slums' but for many of you that will never see them this film is about as close and real as you'l get, i agree its the whole package that makes this film good, the fact its british, the way its shot, the rawness, the music and watching it in the cinema was just about as good as it gets (even though i was two rows from the front and got a bad neck, lol) So overall great i'd say, how can it be bad if it won 9 odd oscars?

'i mean I can't see the big deal over Mozart, but does that make his stuff shite? I think not.[/QUOTE] '

lol i second that!

I never did get to watch this film. I thought it was just hype by the media and overrated coz of the director. I was just wondering do the actors talk in a typical indian accent you know like how ppl who work in a call centre sound like when they talk English. Also I good example is that call centre character in that candid phone call program "fone jacker" .... "I am calling from internet providings" lol. My point is, that I find it quite annoying to listen to that accent and I could not watch a film listening to that for the duration of the film. And before ppl jump on the bandwagon saying I'm being racist... well I am a British born asian (but not indian). I'm probably being more prejudice with my views. In the asian fraternity we call it a "bud bud" accent or a freshie/boatie (someone fresh of the boat). I'm also interested in knowing what part of the film appeals to westerners. Is it the ability to experience a different culture without leaving the UK or is it the fascination to see how ppl live in poverty in a developing country. One thing annoying about a typical bollywood film is that they burst into a song every 10 mins running either through a field or down some hills changing their costumes every couple of frames..... do they do that in this?

the first half of the film is excellent , the second half is pointless bollywood/hollywood garbage.
most of the film is in indian language and about 1/3 is , as you called it "call centrre" accent.
I think what most westerners like about the film is that IT IS ENTERTAINING.. no one really cares about the slums unless they are entertaining.
also, i think if you cant watch a film because of an accent you must be really ..really.. pretentious:)

film was decent , won oscars as most films do through internal politics not because it was best.

decent price though.

Wait a few months and get this for under 5 quid (if you really need to have a copy). And if you haven't seen this yet, get it for free from the web or through Lovefilm DVD Rental service ;-)

Dreadful movie, artlessly contrived nonsense.

When I saw it in the cinema on its first day of release everyone in the cinema stayed behind until the titles finished rolling and the lights came on. Never seen that happen before. Voted hot.

Just when i thought the indians had come up with something more substantial than their usual dross - because the first 30 mins of the movie are really good (showing the real side of india you would never see in a bollywood flick).

but somehow this movie ends up being another one of their love-chase-made-for-each-other sappy, sloppy, intelligence insulting garbage.

Awful movie.

Slumdog (Ayush/Rubina) ]http//ni…jpg

Millionaire (Danny Boyle) ]http//ni…jpg

Danny "Cheers everybody for Hollywood child labour/exploitation"

Danny only flew out after their houses got bulldozed and the bad-press he received. They still lived in slums after the film (would still be there if not for the media)

wtf happened to the fund set up for their housing and education? (i'm guessing the fund director is celebrating too)

When Morrisons reduce the DVD prices for the first week are the blu-ray editions cheaper as well? If so what is the normal week 1 price? Never been to Morrisons so would be interested to know. Thanks
