Watch the same satellite channel and control your satellite receiver from a second TV in a different location. Run coax cable from your Satellite Reciever's RF2 output to another room, attach the magic eye and you can watch your satellite channels and change the channel on the reciever. Suitable for Sky, Sky + and Sky HD. Instructions supplied

It only sends the pic SD.

It is still the only way to change the channel in the second room.

The way to send the pic to the second room is by having a HDMI splitter from 1 input to 2 outputs and have that for the second picture.

It's what I'm doing to mine.

So you use a HD splitter to send the signal to other room in HD but use this to change the channel?

Sounds good but the wires are a bit of PITA.

we have an old box upstairs from sky, looking at one of the reviews

Have been using one of these gizmos for several years now. Very simple to set up. You need to run co-ax from output socket in Sky box to TV or recorder in second room, and it just fits between the co-ax plug and set input socket. Easier done than said. All functions available from Sky box are available with second handset. Saves having to pay Sky the second room charge - so pays for itself in month one. It is one gadget I could not do without - now! Saves a lot of arguing with the wife, and that is priceless!!!

Can this be used does anyone know with the second box ??

Can someone explain to me in laymans terms how this works please? If we have sky+ hd downstairs does having one of these mean that our eldest can watch it in his room? X

Yes but the 2nd TV will display the same signal as the 1st TV (i.e. the same channel)

Great idea if you watch DVDs, play games etc on your main TV allowing others to watch Sky on another TV while you do so.

You make a good case, I voted cold.

have the amazon one, for £4.50 ish two years ago, works alright for me, picture isn't perfect though, but no doubt due to my own internal cabling that links it to the bedroom, excellent for the price though, don't have hd, only + but everything works.

don't recall mine having the instructions telling you how to enable the RF2 output, there is a menu (maybe hidden?) can't remember, google it if it isn't stated in your pack.

I concur, any wireless ones, links please?

the menu is hidden. some times depends on the box ie standard box and sky + for getting in to the menu, google will give it "turn on rf2 output"

Press 'Services' 4, 01select, 4 (rf outlets) and switch on the RF2 power

hang on - so you still need to purchase a second remote yeah?

Sky+ and Sky handsets are different and will not work the other, so remote operation won't be an issue.

All Sky boxes can be changed to have a differetn UHF channel output on RF2.

To adjust the UHF modulator channel of a Sky Digibox, turn on the receiver and press "Services" on the Sky handset. Then press "4" to enter "System Setup". Then press the following keys on the handset one after the other in quick succession: "0" then "1" then "Select". This will make the Sky Digibox enter the "Installer Setup".

Sky Digibox Re-tuning Menu Sky TV RF Outlets Menu

Then press "4" for RF Outlets to access the menu to adjust the modulator RF channel number. The default channel number at Sky Digibox installation is 68 (the highest channel number). This is rather stupid as higher channels have the most signal loss. To get the best picture, try to choose a free UHF channel number which is as low as possible and away from any analogue or digital TV channels transmitted in your region. Enter a new UHF channel number with the Sky handset and save the changes by pressing "Select" before quitting the menu.

Not necessarily, you could just take the remote to the other room with you.
Only would become a pain if you sit down to watch the tv and realise the remote has been left upstairs or wherever.

This gadget just enables you to control the sky box to change channels etc...
to watch it you have to run a coax cable from the box to the 2nd TV - then just plug this in the 2nd TV and the coax into it...
Been using the SLX ones for 10 years now.. got mine off ebay.. replaced one so far..

Have a feed to the kitchen and the bedroom using magic eyes. The picture is fine, not perfect but watchable and sound is only mono I think. Not that it matters for bedroom/kitchen watching. Saves a fortune compared to paying multi room. If there's ever the situation we want to watch different things, we still have an aerial into the tv - which also gets passed through to the other rooms.

Luckily we bought a house with pre-wired aerial points, however the cabling may be an issue but you can always consider running it outside and up the outside wall to another room.

I got these wireless ones for £15.99 last yeat, I've just gone onto the website and I'm shocked to see that they have gone up to £125.98!

Picked up the av sender receiver a couple of years ago from aldi and works ok between main tv / sky box and tv in conservatory. Great for the summer when you can spend your evenings in there.

Topcash back too!!

Already order, thought about posting but didnt think it would take.

And you need a co-ax cable from Sky box to 2nd TV. These gadgets DO NOT transmit a video signal, they simply let you change the channel. I got the impression that you thought just plugging this in alone you could send Sky to a second TV. The picture quality will NOT be HD, only as good as RF ( Aerial ) quality.
