Thank you, My Alexa is linked to my hive hub and i can control Hive from that.
I know thats not the same thing as its the opposite way around
Lovely if you like your data send over to the Chinese Tuya servers.

If you're lucky you should be able to use Tuya Convert on them though and install Tasmota/ESP Home and keep in all at home.
(Can't comment on these plugs in particular, but I've had similar ones work that haven't been patched yet)

You could control these plugs via Alexa : there may already be an Alexa skill or you could use the ifttt app to connect them as a mediator. I have similar set up using Google home but am keen to get an independent hub like smartthings or Xiaomi to take the burden offy home WiFi.
I'm just being lazy like most and asking questions on here 🥴
Never used these before or any smart plugs, just ordered these. Hope to be impressed.....never thought I'll ever say I want to be impressed by a plug....

Right I'm going to ask and probably get shot down but what do these do that the switch on the socket can't do. What type of device needs the mains turning on and off. I love gadgets but I can't get my head around this smart home thing.

I have a routine via Alexa, that switches on my lights (plugged in to smart plugs) automatically in the morning. My alarm as it were. Also, I say "Alexa, I'm leaving" and she will turn on my internal security cameras, (plugged in to smart plugs), turn off any lights, (plugged in to smart plugs). And any other things plugged in to smart plugs.

When I come home, I say ""Alexa, I'm home" and she will turn things on, including the kettle. <y washing machine is plugged into one and I can switch it on when I'm out.

It's all about laziness and being smart with it

Certainly a lot easier that going around swiching plugs on and off. You should try it

These are ideal when the socket switch is not easy to access or in another room. When we go to bed we say good night to alexa and have it so that all the lights go off and any plugs. We also use them in the kids room so I can make sure the TV or lamps are off.
A friend of mine thought he was being clever to restrict his kids internet access and plugged his router in to one of these.
He soon realised the error of his ways after asking Alexa to turn that particular socket off !!!
I have mine linked to a Ring Doorbell through Alexa... Motion detected after midnight, turn the lamps on.

Mainly for me turning up drunk and needing to be able to see. But could also scare off undesirables.
