Watch it, be a bit sensitive mate, as there are people that can not afford lunch for their children, not even beans on toast or a quick omelette, as highlighted by millionaire footballer Marcus Rashford. But on the quiet, I completely agree, you are totally right. I can't think of one food that would not be degraded by this cheap sauce.
It's ok and defo worth that price.
For 16p you can add a little bit of chilli sauce and some mustard, make yourself a belting custom sauce. I splurge and add a few drops of liquid smoke too. Those few drops probably cost more than the sauce though.

I think they are phasing this label out... My local asda website has asda brand for the same money same weight.

Could use as a base for a nice chutney
Am sure Branston don't use HP
What does brown sauce taste like? Is it like BBQ sauce?

I'm always amazed that people post in favour of children going hungry. Then I remember what's happened over the past 4 years.

Not as sweet/smokey tasting. Has a sharper more vinegary taste. Hard to describe 😜!
GOOD PRICE BUT,,,,, every time ive gone to asda or ordered online they are always short of stuff. So in effect i have to go to another shop to get it all. However Tesco has everything so now shopping there from now on.
I got a cheap one called 'hubbards' from Sainsburys and its actually fine
The highlight of many disadvantaged children's weeks is having a "Smart Price Brown Sauce" sandwich consisting of two pieces of cardboard white bread with a dollop of economy brown sauce as the filling. Indeed, as Marcus Rashford commented, it's sandwiches like these that made him into the multi-millionaire footballer he is today.

If more people consumed Smart Price Brown Sauce treats instead of unhealthy junk food like KFCs, Nandos, Pizza Huts and McDonalds, just think how many more elite multi-millionaire footballers the UK would have!

There is too much sauce snobbery in this world!

Brown sauce is Tommy sauce with molasses and tamarind which make it brown. Do HP and Daddies have any secret spices? If so why haven't they created a 'colonel' holder of the great secret spices.......hmmmmmm?

He is one of many thousands of millionaire footballers around the world, yet THE ONLY ONE who is prepared to highlight both his working class poverty stricken roots AND publicly take the fight to those who will bail-out banks/BA etc yet happily ignore the fact that MILLIONS of poor people starve.

Unless you are doing something equally constructive to enable access to food for millions of school kids, or indeed have fought/trained to be a premier footballer willing to then use your public platform wisely, your snarky comments are nowt but keyboard jealousy.

Thanks for the deal post OP.

Look, I can't stand football, nor the vast majority of the one-eyed fans, the ridiculous tribality of it, the racist chants etc.etc. but a hell of a lot of footballers put back into their communities - he is not the only one. His campaign has been outstanding, he has run riddles around the government with his non-party discourse and has brought about a wonderful result. But don't dismiss the work of the other footballers. That's totally unfair!
