How secure are these from hackers?

It's obvious to said person that you're not at home, so they basically have the go-ahead to break in... You know that they are, as they're wearing a mask or balaclava perhaps, and your friends normally don't and neither does the postman. However, you're helpless and all you can do is phone the police... Who don't respond until the damage is done. Let's say I'm not sure about these products!

Never heard of many burglars who ring before they come in. How polite of them, I only hope they also clean up after they finish the job.

You know you can answer these when you're at home too, and even if someone does ring you don't have to answer, you know like a regular doorbell. Unless you specify you're away they have no idea if you're at home or not.

The benefit of these is you have video footage of anyone who comes near your door or attempts to break in, which is more than can be said for a regular doorbell. Said undesirable person may even avoid your house altogether if they see one.

Was thinking about hacking remotely like they do with nanny cams and so forth - Most of the time these things have little to no real security.

Not an expert, but I think most of the burglars ring first to check if you're at home. If they don't, I guess there are not smart enough. With the smart door bell, you don't even need to ring, camera detects the movement and lets you know somebody is at your door. I am talking about a proper smart door bell, I do not trust this one...

Hoped it would double as a security camera for the car parked at driveway in front of the door.

Are there any budget stand alone night vision security cameras that would email pictures when PIR is activated ? I don't really want to drill external walls and when used from inside I get glass reflection at night (have a small DLINK camera that I leave on we we go on holiday, but it is indoors only and wired power supply)

Don’t know if this system has a motion detector but the Ring bell does,so it alerts your phone before someone even gets to your door( you can set up the zone area to suit you). They don’t have to ring the bell!
So lag time is pretty bad on these?
I've gone for it, need a doorbell and don't wanna pay too much, hopefully it'll do the job

I always thought smart burglars would case their target first, but maybe I just watch too many films.

You really think that knocking on a few houses showing your face and then robbing the one next door who's empty is that clever?

Not clever, agree. But clever thieves are only in movies:). The ones that do not get caught are due to the relevant organisations not being bother to catch them. I watch too many movies too:)).

So lag time is pretty bad on these?

I bought one of these recently. The lag time from pressing the doorbell to an alert on the phone is about 5 seconds. From then it typically takes 5-10 seconds for the video to appear after you accept the incoming call. About the same as a Ring doorbell from the ones that I've seen.
If you have PIR motion detection enabled I found that the batteries last about a week, so you'd really want a hard-wired power supply if you want to use this feature - any 12V DC supply wlll do.
I have one you need to get the batteries for it as they don't come with it, rechargeable are best has built-in micro
adapter to charge them. cheapest price for batteries are on eBay number is 302481830603
Hope this helps, needs batteries to try but looks well made ,indoor chime has three pin adapter so should be fine 😁

Plus they can steal the SD card from it. So you'd have no evidence.
I have one set up so here's the deal. If you live somewhere that is high traffic or high crime this is not for you. My main door is discete and sheltered. The instructions I received were incomplete and poorly presented, the App they recommended couldn't select the SSID or password, I downloaded a generic IP camera app that looked similar to the one the instructions recommended, luckily this connected the camera and shared it's settings back to the app. The App itself isn't to bad actually, but it operates in strange way, if the PIR is activated it draws a red line on the time line, what it doesn't do is record to either cloud, SD or the app no, for that you have to press record, all I get is slide show of mainly distorted faces, unless the caller, rings the bell and waits without moving for two or three minutes, you can then speak to them and they can speak to you, with about a 45 second delay. For me it works, I get a notification if someone is at my door and if they press the bell it plays Jingle Bells. For a few quid and pack of command stickers I don't regret my purchase.

"Don’t know if this system has a motion detector but the Ring bell does".

Ring is a whole different level of beast though isn't it?.

Well, for one, Ring is up to 10x the cost of the OP's Deal, hehehehe.

So kinda depends upon how you look at it?. :-)

Almost like an iPad, and an Android Tablet, different 'engines' (yes), but essentially both pretty much do a similar job at the end of the Day ...
I had one. I got robbed and it alerted me after they had been in and robbed all my stuff 10 mins later

Great buy

Lag is relative to you're WiFi connection and your device you use to view the door-cam on. So if your WiFi is weak or in heavy use (also maybe by other houses on the same channel), it can slow the link and if you're trying to view it on your phone using a less than ideal connection, this will also result in lag. So it's not so much 'they need to sort the lag issues' as you may need to optimise yours, plenty of people report good results using theirs.
Bought this when it was on HUKD a few months back but been gathering dust cause it came with no instructions, no batteties (managed to get some 18650 off Amazon in the meantime), but it seems to need a SIM card and I'm clueless to pair it with my iPhone

I wouldn't worry about them being hacked.I am more worried that they will just come and take it away as its clipped onto a back panel which is screwed onto the wall, but all you need to do is to push camera it up an ddown and you can walk away with camera

Don't do it. I wasted money on a similar one from China and it was utterly useless. Battery lasted 3 days instead of claimed 3 months. Hardly ever worked. If it did work there was a 20 second delay, by which time Parcelforce had left a note and driven off! Furthermore I sold it to someone in Belgium on eBay who found it wouldn't even boot up as it was still locked to my WiFi. No way to unlock it.

I've upgraded my network with BT Whole Home Wifi and the lag is now down to about 8 seconds.
I'd also be interested to know which generic app you used to view this GOHOHO9O
My associate rang my door bells, and swear down I got notified 10 minutes later. The feds could have raided in this time, you have been warned
