Genuine question: how does that make it cold? It is the 2 weeks ago comment unrelated?

it's not just 2 smart plugs it's a smartthings hub which is the starting point to enter the ecosystem of Smartthings devices and automation

I don't get what's cold? Your comment two weeks ago was positive towards the deal.

But why do I need that hub when the amazon or tp link sockets just work straight off Alexa? Sorry just confused by this package

Depends what you want to do. If you just want to turn stuff on and off using Alexa or Google assistant then this package is overkill for you

Smartthings can do stuff like if motion is detected in the garage between the hours of 2am and 5am, sound a siren and turn on lights in these 2 rooms and notify my phone.

Having a smart home hub like this enables you to build more complex automations. E.g. what if you wanted to create a goodnight routine, which, when you say "Alexa, Goodnight" turned off a bunch of smart plugs, an assortment of smart lights (working off different protocols), locked your doors, and armed the burglar alarm.

How is this a hot deal? I say it's cold because it's a repost in only 2 weeks.

A simple search shows that original post.

Yes, it's a good price if you want the 3rd gen hub, and the plugs are good because they are zigbee and repeaters.

One of us has misunderstood the hot/cold system.

My understanding is that you vote hot if it it's a good deal, and cold if it's not (not cold if it's a repost of an expired deal from 2 weeks ago)

Agree, whether the deal is hot and cold is not dependent on whether it was already posted. It is decided on the how helpful it is for the buyers

I agree with others. Yes it might be a repost but voting it cold could just make casual users think its not a value for money deal (your last post indicates that you thought it was a good deal).

Especially people who might not read the comments for context.

it's not an unexpired deal though is it? it's a currently running promotion, the same discount code.
shall we start reposting hot deals from last week too?

Don't know what's up with you mate. You can always report the deal :). The fact that this post was voted hot is enough proof that the previous post got lost. HUKD are quite efficient in deleting duplicate posts :). Since you voted the last post hot, I believe you bought this product and can provide the buyers with your honest review whether the product is good enough to buy at this price or not.

Did you search on this deal before posting? Too lazy? Can't be bothered reading over older posts about the Smartthings system?
Check out the posts about version 2. This deal is only good because of the 2 free plugs.

Wrong side of the bed?
Is this the newest gen?
the plugs also act as range extenders for the network, which is handy if you turn off your smart lights at the wall like most of my household do

Lamps or lights? If you mean wall lights have you considered the Xiaomi ZigBee wall switches?
Is this better than hubitat? Not trolling
