Worth upgrading from V2?
Most of the specs look like a downgrade to me... strange.

Worth upgrading from V2?

Probably not unless your v2 is faulty or the day Samsung stop supporting v2.
has samsung hub offcially started to accomodate xioami stuff now?

ive got yeelights, xioami switches and sensors and the xiaomi hub is so so. keeps on losing connection so suddenly the sensors and switches stop working with the lights and i have to resort to my google mini to voice activate stuff.

can switches and lights etc be used across different companies. so using a xiaomi switch on a philips hue bulb??

Wondering the same. I'm torn between this and going all in with Tradfri kit.

Tradfri is also something ive considered. what i want is a bloody hub which will then work with all the main home products. i dont want to be locked into 21 eco system ffs.
i believe tradfri works with hue stuff, and not complicated to set up. but ive also got xiaomi stuff which i would like to incorporate.

I'm in the same boat. I do like the look of the way Tradfri is going now though. Adding a lot more to the eco system.

how do you mean mate, adding more into the eco system?
Also interested in Xiaomi/Aqara compatibility.

We have a number of temperature/humidity sensors, and an aqara light switch. Everything goes through an Aqara camera/hub, which uses the china mainlaind server, meaning it can be a little slow, also the temp logging isn't too good.

Would be interested to know if they work with this, and if that would add Google/Alexa functionality ?
Does anyone know if the Samsung hub works with the lightwave rf switches and the ikea smart blinds? Thanks

New bulb and switch types, blinds, speakers etc. Nice to have it all under one app.

Aye. Just want it to work without messing about. Then I'd be tempted to get more stuff. But at the moment, just got a few yeelights, xiaomi switches etc. But would love to take advantage of more products without individual hubs
could someone explain the use for this please? I have multiple smart devices already and this has some heatr

This can be your all in one go to when creating routines etc rather than having to use individual apps.
From what i understand... Xiaomi is not directly support out of the box but there are user submitted handlers which can be added to Smartthings to then allow Xiaomi to work.

Although, some members have also said the the Xiaomi products for some users have been unreliable as they disconnect from the ST ecosystem and need re-adding. Interested in an actual users experience as most of the ST website is US based which run on different protocols...
So could I buy this and then get bulbs from IKEA, Xiaomi or Philips and they would all work?

Yeelight are in the list of options to add new device in new SmartThings app.

IKEA devices are on the list of adding device in new SmartThings app. But not blinds, yet. Although you can check for custom handler, not difficult to add manually.

Yes. Will be straight forward for IKEA and Hue lights. Never tried Xiaomi ones. (really like hue, although also have Hue Hub, as like its app and "formulas")

Thanks for the response. So can you say use the hue light switch on another smart things compatible product light a light from another brand?

As I'm have Hue Hub, hue dimmer switch is connected to it.
Yiu can connect hue (or any other Zigbee) lights to SmartThings directly and use Zigbee or Z-Wave switches, or motion sensors. I just find that having Hue Hub as a middle man (covering all lighting) has some extra benefits. Plus it is cheap.

I'm not sure about connecting hue switches directly to SmartThings hub.
I have the v2 hub and have been using it for a couple of years with xiaomi (aqara) doot/window sensors, temperature sensors and buttons for controlling Yeelights, Hive bulbs and even WeMo lights. Occasionally get the odd sensor dropping off but usually not too much hassle getting them to rediscover again.
