Reasons stipulated in other threads, but to reiterate....terrible network, terrible CS, terrible signal (everywhere!), terrible call quality (can you hear me now?!)To summarise.....TERRIBLE!

I think it's unfair to vote cold just because you had terrible network issues. I currently run a Huawei router with a smarty unlimited SIM card and because our area has strong three network, (London) the internet has been perfect. We are all on three network otherwise with little issues. I agree outside of London when I have travelled, it has not been great everywhere but I have never experienced such vast dropouts. This is a great deal if you can experience it.

I highly recommend checking the three network coverage map before purchasing this. Your mileage may be different to someone else's.

We've been on this deal with them for a few months now - neither of us had any issues at all
Cold. Terrible coverage. Their coverage map turned out to be a lie, switched to Voxi... Will never look back. It’s cheap for a reason.

Been this tariff for a little while but maybe the Quidco payment is new

No, that's been around longer than this price

Nothing new here but a couple of people might not have come across it.

Cheap, iffy customer service and coverage that works for a few but not for most (I'm one of the fortunate ones)

I've had zero issues where I am. Guess I'm lucky.

I was in a strong signal area according to their map - I checked it before is signed up. I kept dropping calls half way through it was really embarrassing and frustrating from a business/work point of view. The internet signal constantly swapped between 3G and 4g. I couldn’t leave them fast enough and I’ve been with most networks (except three/smarty) over the last few years....this one was by far the worst.
I am getting 30mb down but that’s not gonna be same for everyone else.
No network is perfect
Be careful because it doesn’t include wifi calling which explains why people mention the terrible sound quality. I live in an area of poor signal and rely on this so it’s a no for me

Their map is rubbish says mine is good coverage .I get 5mbps at most.44 days till their gone forever.

I too was getting 35mb average but it still flicked between 3G and 4G randomly -
Also had 3 or 4 bars on signal - still dropped calls etc.....same phone, same everything. Was on Vodafone absolutely no probs just didn’t like their renewal deals, now on giffgaff absolutely perfect no problems at all.

Three got a test sim for data only managed to get 3G not even 4G called them said there doing maintenance work, the sim is still in an old iPhone still no 4G and that was 6 months ago.

Also forgot to add I’m apparently in a 5G area
Left smarty the other day due to poor call quality
Been on three and now smarty for years. Zero problems here in northern irel
I'm at the end of my 12 month EE contract and I am considering trying this Smarty offer. I've never had issues in the past when I was with Three.
If it turns out to be bad I can always leave. Its only a 30 day contract.
I'm ideally looking for a sim only contract with wifi calling but I think my demands are high.

No wifi calling on Smarty but there is on ID Mobile which is also 30 days contract and runs on Three
Maybe time to switch to this now voxi have fixed their free unlimited glitch
I use this as a sim in a tablet for a relative that doesn't get broadband. They live outside of Manchester and it works brilliantly. I also can check the daily usage to check someone's called during the day. I've had no issues with the SIM. Haven't needed to call customer services so can't comment on that aspect.
I had family plan -poor 4G in London and Cardiff tried for 5 months - moved to Vodafone
Been on this deal for 3 months now and had no issues

Can only give my own experience - my kids have been on Smarty sims since shortly after it launched, some 2 1/2 years ago, and have had no problems whatsoever. When first introduced it was truly bare-bones, not even offering international roaming, but since then they've included EU roaming as part of the package, which was useful last year when my daughter went to Barcelona.

Few things of note:

At the time, they were the only contract operator I could find that would guarantee that the bill would never be higher than the monthly contract cost - everything is either bundled or blocked, with the exception of data which works until it runs out, with an option to (manually) top up if needed. This was a key requirement to me as I needed to be sure the costs were controlled, but unlike a PAYG sim, I could be confident that my kids can always make a phone call or send a text with no fear of running out of credit.

They now offer a discount for multiple sims. I've since moved both kids onto the 30GB plan, and am paying £18/mo for both sims. Honestly, really happy with this deal which seems a decent price for what you get. Neither of them have ever run out of data since we switched!

Coverage is the same as Three, so if Three doesn't cover your area, neither will Smarty. That's the way it goes. Fortunately, we get decent coverage here and, in fact, more than once I've had to borrow their phones when my own O2 phone can't get a signal but theirs can!

No idea on customer services as I've never had cause to contact them in 2 1/2 years. The service has been 100% reliable.

Recommended, especially for kids!
My wife and I switched to this deal recently and I have to say I have been very impressed. Signal is fine and data perfect. Just check your area first..... And for the comments about customer service.... Have you ever had a good service from a phone provider. The employees are on rubbish money are rarely care about the customer!!

This is cheap as chips in a competitive market. Works perfect for us. Worth a try as no contract anyway!! Win win. Heat.

I will vouch for 3 (smarty) going to the dogs - used to be great and was with them for 6-7years however they have recently got worse and worse., now left for EE paying more but it actually works well.

What's annoying is they have the best 5G spectrum by far but unless you live in the postage stamp area of a big city it is useless to you. How different it would have been if the O2 merger had gone ahead.

The speeds were just too slow for me. Went back to Virgin Media (who use the EE network I believe) and it's a ten fold increase on download speeds. If you can get decent speeds where you are, it's a no brainer.
Been using them for about four months now. Came from Three and the same service. In fact it's owned by THREE

Watch out though as Virgin have just done a deal with O2 but are supposedly switching to Vodafone next year.
ALL change
Quick check on my son's phone reports 35Mbps on his Smarty sim with reported 75% signal strength. No complaints here - nearly as quick as my broadband!

I tend to hit 30Mb downstream and it happiliy sits above 10Mb virtually always so I am very happy with Smarty

I used the customer services chat to upgrade from this deal to the 100GB £15 promo plan using the same sim. They got back in about 2 hours and it was all sorted out within 3 hours (I had to swap plans for the following month and then the agent applied the Promo deal to it.) So I was perfectly happy with that.
I had to Hotspot from my mother's voxi sim yesterday when I took her out for a drive and needed to check something online and send a message through fb. Smarty gave me NOTHING. Near where I live it's fine but outside of that area, it's hopeless.

If I hadn't been credited with loads of free credit (for their customer services dept messing things up) and some referrals, I'd be ditching it straight away.
Might help somebody - Smarty don't support WiFi calling, whereas 3 do
