3402149.jpgYes, you read that right. From 5th February 2020 SMARTY's data discount plans will be even better value.

Your new monthly rate will be just £13 if you're on the 45GB for £15 plan. And of course, your 8GB plan is supercharged for 12 months so you’ll still have 45GB to play with each month.

You will now get money back for data you don’t use up to the first 8GB of your plan at the rate you paid for it, so now at £1 per GB.

The number of plans SMARTY offer has grown, so to keep things simple yours will now be called the 8GB plan.

People that joined with the £15 for 45GB are automatically changed to the £15 for 50GB plan so I imagine the people that were automatically changed will get this deal - it's only available to those who signed up when the offer was available and the discount will apply automatically
can you use this instead of home broadband now ? Seems to be going that way. I get 4G+ on my Smarty phone at home now. Time to ditch the landline at last ?

You certainly can. Is go for the unlimited SIM though. Also go for a router that supports 4g+ as opposed to just 4g.

I get significantly higher speeds than I did with wired fibre.
Wow, that’s great value
While this is a good deal, for you. I think the title is a bit misleading. I'm an existing customer on the £10 deal, but there's no way for me to get it for £13. However the £15 for 50 is, and is a stonking deal in my opinion, so heat added for pointing it out to me.
Maybe change the title to 50gb for £15 full stop.

Are you sure - they let you change to any tariff next month don’t they

Yeah I get that after reading it, but it's not for existing customers i.e me and everyone else on smarty, it's just for people on that existing plan. Title is more clear now, so all is well. It's a great deal.

There was a 45gb plan and it's for people that signed up for that, or got changed to 50GB for £15 automatically

I'm doing just that using a Smarty unlimited SIM in a Huawei dongle (connected to external antenna) , plugged into my ASUS router.
Seems to be pretty stable and gives me much better speeds than I could get over the half mile of wet string to the cabinet.
Latency is higher (as you'd expect) so not good if you want to do online gaming, but fine for streaming, video conferencing and remoting into work via VPN.

Obviously YMMV based on coverage etc.
They are really shaking things up, they get good reviews too. Well worth a look at this network. i think they are great. Lots of free months available online too even with the Unlimited plan.
This is a realignment of all of their plans with a potential data discount, so that the minimum bill is now £5.

Data cost is now £1 per GB - credit for unused data is now £1 per GB.

a 20% reduction on the old £1.25 I've just checked their new price plan.. Get the 500mB plan and you get 50p of free data a month too ;-)
Do not recommend! I have been with them 8 months, two last month's without network coverage...shame on them! Very disappointed! Doing scums like that

I’ve done this for the past few months on £18.75 unlimited in a huawei b535. Speeds were usually quite good but now I only get 2mb down/20 up in the evenings. So I’m dropping it and getting virgin media back.

As a side note they don’t accept short codes messages so you can’t stop marketing messages or any other essential you might require a confirmation reply to.
Existing customer, £15 for 50gbs,plus I can Tether a 55" Telly, Ask Alexa plus another mobile phone, Top that! 🔥 🔥

I can see no reason why not - these are being used in 4G routers with no problems, so I cant see a tablet being any different.

At the end of the day, if you get it and it doesn't work, just cancel within the 14 day cooling off period

Yes all data sims work in tablets as well as phones, 4G routers etc. The watchdog changed the rules a while back as the phone companies were being unfair (yet again).
Won't the latency be bad for gamers using this as home broad band?

Wouldn't recommend it mate. I had a homefi (three network) for 3 months and during peak hours my ping would go from 30 to 500 which is unplayable. Non-peak is fine. Very good actually.

Depends on router being used
Any more users like to comment? Thinking of moving from my Vodafone SIM only deal when it ends next month.

I use voxi and you get unlimited social media data (whatsapp/twitter etc) so it does not count towards your data. That uses Vodafone network.

Anyone having issues with SMARTY keep disconnecting and the network doesn't show in the top left corner? Happening to me this evening
Edited by: "andrewworrall1" 13th Feb
Since they did this my bill has actually gone UP!!!

I use about 1.5-2gb data only and signed up to the 45gb as useful to have the capacity when I occasionally need it (outages, travel etc). And consistently had a less than £6 deal. Since they "reduced" it, I used same data, got bill today and it's £6.98...

Oh well

I've recently been unable to call on data on WhatsApp, and phone shows as connected to three and no longer smarty, with less reliable data than previously... When contacted their support they just told me to look elsewhere 😳

Hahaha! Louis is hopeless! I've actually got an active "chat" with him - he's hopeless, I'm going to try and contact complaints instead as he's a waste of time! I have 2 accounts and even though they are separate and the codes are different, when I've referred a couple of friends, the free referral months went onto the wrong account!
