Mobile contract providers tend to increase your monthly tariff by inflation - and exactly which measure depends on the network:

Three: a Fixed Annual Price Change, 4.5% this year.
O2: RPI plus 3.9%.
EE, Vodafone: Consumer Price Index plus 3.9%.

The date of the adjustment also varies by provider:

Three: April
O2: Announced in Feb, effective from April
EE: Announced in Jan, effective from March
Vodafone: Announced in Jan, effective from April

What is Sim only?

SIM only is just that, where you only pay for the minutes, texts, and data you use on your sim-card.

You will have to supply your own device i.e phone/tablet to insert the sim-card into, hence why it's called 'sim only'

    Thanks for posting @masterkik

Seems like Smarty are definitely the way to go if you're in area of good Three coverage and can live with online only CS support and no free access to hotspots.

I'm currently trying out Lebara Vs Three. I may end with being (a) Smarty! (edited)

Here's my awful experience with Smarty last week
    Signed up for Smarty.
Applied for a PAC transfer last Thursday (expecting to transfer the following day)
Got a message on the Friday to say it wasnt going to happen and would be Monday (OK fair enough)
    PAC transfer happened on Monday
Data working but unable to make or receive calls and texts
CS trying to tell me it was because I had an Android Phone
On Tuesday , then they say its because there is call and sms barring is turned on on my account
They give me some code to type in #330*0000# or something but that doesn't work
They reset the pin to 0000 and that works , i can now makes and receive calls but still cant text (I need SMS for 2FA for things like banking and work etc so starting to get annoyed)
They again tell me its my android phone, its not of course
On Wed, they then say I'll need a new SIM (My first SIM took 2 weeks to arrive by post)
At this point I'd had enough and request a PAC from them, go to the local shop and buy a giffgaff sim for 75p
the same day I apply my new PAC to giffgaff
Yesterday my number is ported to Giffgaff and all calls and sms services are working fine!!

Would not recommend as a daily sim.
I noticed data speeds varied drastically.

However the inlaws have a smarty sim in a WIFI router in their caravan (for data use only) and it works a treat.

    They gave me 3 options:

    1. Do nothing at all, and the £10.68 will jump up to £22 in April.

    2. Change plan

    3. Leave

They informed me that I will not have Go Roaming at all. So I've opted to leave

However, due to Three upping the price, and taking off Go Roaming, I'm moving to Smarty on this deal. Smarty only to roaming for up to 12gb data when abroad, any over that amount will be charged.

I was similar - paying £8 for 12 GB (more than I need). Then I got a letter last November saying that they were unable to let me stay on that tariff and offered me a range of much worse tariffs. Got on chat and got a new contract on the same terms. Can't help feeling they will doing this to shake off all the people using roaming. Strangely my wife who is on the same tariff dodn't get that letter...

Ah yes, it that case you have no choice. Happened the same to my wife a month ago or but for some reason they didn't do the same to me (we both started the same plan at the same time)

I've just joined Smarty (was Three) on Monday 21st March, and my number has been successfully ported at 3pm today. There will not be any increase, as this deal is for 12 months (well, that's my plan anyway, with double data 30+30GB and AYCE texts and minutes)

Literally the same thing happened to me. only data, no calls and txt, tried on 3 different phones. I wonder if it is because i activated it later in the evening? Anyhow, after day 5 I gave up, told them I wanted to get a refund, opened a new account with a different email and used the spare smarty sim and it worked. After a day of it working, I then moved my orginal number over. Whatever you do, DO NOT PORT YOUR NUMBER OVER UNTIL YOU HAVE CONFIRMATION THAT DATA, SMS and PHONE WORKS. I knew the problem was on their end. Unfortunately, with no customer service person to speak to ( only via chat) it was never going to get resolved. I bet you these guys that work for smarty push it up to three and get absolutely nothing back, That's why its probably cheaper. No support. It's not a problem if things work off the bat which 9 out 10 times it does, but it you have an issue then you're in trouble, its not going to be solved. (edited)

When this offer first came out the other week, they said that would happen; everyone on the 30GB for £10 tariff got automatically upgraded UNLESS you also had a group discount in place in which case you need to live chat with them to get the group discount removed.

“Roam like home in the EU.”

That's incorrect. Like at home means the full 60GB.

Roaming is maximum 12GB across all data packages.
Since Brexit the "roam like at home" ceased to exist on all providers.

Good thing about this promo is that is for existing customers too.

Bad thing, they can pull it whilst you have it within the 12 months (T&C point 7) so it's not guaranteed (it's unheard of, thought) (edited)
