Saw these instore today. Think these are a discontinued size as not seen them before. Packs are 176g and tubs at 280g normally , and they are over a quid in supermarkets most of the time

Varying uses by dates from October 2014 and December 2014

Assuming it's the cheapest price for the stuff, have some heat. But seriously, smash? When proper mash takes so little effort? Oh well!

Convenience. Also the costs of buying & boiling potatoes with hi energy costs...these are fine

This stuff makes me gag!

I buy the 220g tub in poundland usually. The 260/280g (can't remember) tub is £1.99 in supermarkets.

Well home bargains have the 280g ones next to these thats were I normally get em or b&m. There 99p.

I figured I can get 2 tubs and have 440g though for about £1.20 so no brainer:)

I used to love this stuff when it had its own unique taste..
Then came the "NEW IMPROVED RECIPE". Now it tastes like every other watery instant mashed potato

Just buy frozen mash if your lazy. Easier to make and tastes almost indistinguishable from home peeled, boiled and mashed mash!

This is made from potato dust gathered in the chip making process.

It's food for livestock not people.

this isn't as nice as it used to be,was better before it was a powder, when it used to be little cubes

You got to be a lazy parent to buy this cack. I wouldn't feed it to my dog!

This is disgusting vomiting making mix.
Fie!
Muck!

Beautiful with a tin of finest quality campbells meatballs, and a few slices of warburtons

This stuff always tastes powdery to me. Real spuds all the way.

Even people on benefits have real spuds!

i work full time and i eat this sometimes? its alright for a quick meal now and again

Awful lazy product

heat from me as just paid supermarket price for mine :-( and while I agree that it makes awful mashed potato it does have other uses.... I mix the powder with herbs/spices & make a coating for chicken!

people actually eat this s**t
yuk

This is fab in making fishcakes and bubble and squeak patties

I agree with other comments. I found frozen mash to be much easier and tastier. Just as convenient.

the aunt bessie frozen mash isn't bad

i liked this years ago , before they changed it and now its vile ,agree with the other poster it does make an ok crumb for homemade chicken nuggets if you mix of herbs and spices in

The scum that comes of the belts makes this cack, I've worked in two chip factories that shipped this crappy by-product out.

Not that I have to prove myself to a random expert on the internet but here we go

Garden Isle, Wisbech and McCains, Whittlesy

you absolutely dont, but if your going to make a libellous comment about a product then atleast be able to back it up.smash was never made the way you are saying.maybe a smash rip off or some private label instant mash product you may have produced, but smash was never made like you said.are you saying you produced the original smash brand or a smash rip off ? mccains never owned the rights to smash,as far as i know we made smash at cadburrys factory in moreton and then it was taken over by premier foods.

Nowt wrong with Smash. Potatoes are basically just big balls of starch anyway. Some people need to get a life.

That could be due to the fact it is powdered potato?

Livestock which will be chopped up and put in supermarkets for you to pick up and eat.

Recycling is wonderful eh?

After all that intelligent discussion - it's 99p anyway in our store today, so you decide.

yummy :-)

You've gotta be a bit dull if you can't add some seasonings to this to perk it up.

A bit of grated cheese, milk, olive oil, herbs etc etc.

Not difficult really
