Smeg DHT81LUK White 8KG Heat Pump Condenser Tumble Dryer

Offering excellent performance and sought after style, the distinctive design of Smeg washing machines and tumble dryers makes them not simply appliances, but also inspirational pieces of kitchen furniture. From integrated to freestanding stainless steel or colourful 50's style, Smeg has a laundry appliance for every kitchen.

Smeg's laundry appliances use heat pump technology which conserves and re-uses hot air. This is better for the environment and makes it cheaper to run. Since it uses an energy efficient heat exchange system, the air temperature inside the drum is considerably lower than conventional dryers, which offers better protection for your clothes.

Drycare Drum
The structure of the heart shaped drum creates a cushioning layer of air between the clothing and the drum, as the clothes tumble, reducing friction and damage to the fabric. The drum design also creates an extra lift of the clothing, facilitating excellent airflow and drying performance.

Like to know too. How does it compare against a BEKO condensor

Condensed are faster to dry clothes, as they operate at higher temperature YES heat pump are more environmentally friendly BUT if you open the door it adds around 20 minutes to drying time, and clothes take LONGER than in a condensed dryer read this:

I need a dryer but I'm just not sure I can justify the huge cost of a heat pump one. It just seems like a lot of money...

Look for a Beko OR think of it this way
£374 with 5 year warranty = £74.80 per year that seems reasonable
A year ago I upgraded my Zanussi condenser to a Blomberg heat pump. According to my smartmeter I'm saving about 40 to 45p PER LOAD. At three to four loads per week it adds up. And it is not much slower.

How long would a normal 8kg load take to dry in this?

I bought this model a long time ago on another deal, where it came to around £285 but I think it was a misprice or something, and it was the best decision I've ever made. It takes around 2 hours 30 to dry a full 8kg load but they come out all soft and warm. I have seen any difference in my electric bills really even though I do a lot of washing so I would highly recommend but that's just my opinion and experience.

I nearly bought this exact appliance a couple of weeks ago for £295 from here with 5 year warranty but having read a couple of Amazon reviews i decided against it mainly because its a 5 year old model now, it doesnt have reverse tumble and only Energy Efficient Class A+, I want at least A++.

Currently trying to decide between Gorenje DA92IL for £280 using PAID20 code or BEKO Pro DHX83420W for £314.63 using 10% discount code and 8% discounted giftcards.

LKA10A 10% Discount on all Major Domestic Appliances Over £299

Yes, I'm tempted by the Beko, just wish it had a 9kg drum. The Gorenje has an extra year warranty, 9kg drum, Condensing Efficiency Rating A vs B for the Beko as well as being £35 cheaper but there arent many reviews of the machine about and the company itself has many negative online reviews.

Reviews put me off to, went for a BEKO - DTBC8001W from currys in the end
Beko make this dryer for Smeg and Smeg charge premium price for the badge.
5 Year warranty is a good Deal

So far so good with mine. Plenty of settings on it. Just make sure you clean the filter out after every use.

Totally worth it. I paid £500 for a Beko A+++ rated dryer from ao, my electricity bill has went up by about a tenner a month, fair enough it's just me in the house but it lets me get my towels and t-shirts dry during the winter. Takes about 2 hours.

Was just about to pull the trigger on this...but...

Noticed it hadn’t got “reverse tumble” and for that price that’s a deal breaker. Clothes will tangle and crease
Whats the warranty on Gorenje DA92IL?

Amazon Reviews Smeg DHT81LUK 8kg A+ Freestanding Heat Pump Condenser Tumble Dryer White amazon.co.uk/dp/…FSW
£374 is probably standard price given its "quality" so £500 is somewhat misleading... Already voted hot initially but reading reviews I won't be buying
I've bitten the bullet and bought the Gorenje
I got this for us at £300 in April 2018. We soon learned that relying on sensor drying would leave the clothes slightly damp. Just bang the clothes in for timed drying 2 hours does the job! No reverse tumble has never caused us problems either. It's bloomin loud though when in the same room.
We have an indesit heat pump dryer 3 year old with out a reverse function sheets are impossible to dry.

Other than that it works great about 2 hour 30 to dry full load so we just put it on and forget but we are only 2 adults.
I have a heatpump dryer (hotpoint) and was worried about drying times but a full load is dry in less than 2 hours. I had heard horror story's of 4+ hours but this hasn't been my experience at all.
