*SOLD OUT* Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 Cloud Edition 4 TB NAS £85 @ Staples free c&c

This seems like a solid deal for 4TB (2 x 2TB) of storage, let alone for the drives themselves. If nothing else, just scavenge the drives and chuck the enclosure and still save yourself around £15!

It's slow, so not ideal for running anything intensive (especially not Plex Media Server), but it'd do for mass storage on your network if you've got something else to run the server too.

Lenovo-EMC bought out Iomega and now resell this as a Lenovo branded product: shop.lenovo.com/us/…ix2

What brand of drives does this come with?
external drive for the xbox one?
Do the drives have standard SATA interface, or some sort of bespoke interface like some portable enclosures utilise? Thanks.

Normal SATA plugs, the enclosure only is also on the Staples site for £65.

SATA interface I think:

"supports up to 2 3.5" SATA HDDs (trays included)"

Seagate in the 2x 1TB in this … Seagate in the 2x 1TB in this reviewhttp://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/review/desktop-storage/iomega-storcenter-ix2-200-review-3418476/

Might be a full-height 2 TB Seagate then, I can't find anything online for the 4 TB one here. I'll edit the post once mine arrives tomorrow.

It makes me sad that I paid more than double this for a Synology setup but it does all 'just work'. Great price for this though!
Mine came with toshiba drives

Wow!! I must've got the last one!! My order confirmation arrived at 16:22 a few seconds after I ordered it . . .

Edited to add the sold out, that really didn't last long did it?!

Yeah, weird formatting for their spec sheet:
Installed number of Hard Drives: 2
Hard drive capacity: 2 TB

I'm assuming this means 2 TB for each drive.

The main description says 'Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 Cloud Edition 4 TB Network Hard Disk' and the tech description says 2 drives, drive capacity 2tb. This reads 2 x 2TB to me unless they've completely messed up.

I suppose it's irrelevant now since they're sold out. I'll know for definite on Wednesday!!
I've got one of these but 2 tb and I've forgotten my password. Does anyone know how to reset it??

I don't have this device yet but I'll take a couple of guesses on how to do this.
1. Is there a little reset button on the back of the device? If there is, use a pin to press it in for 30 seconds.
2. Can you access the device via SSH at all? I'm sure there's a command to reset the software on this to default settings.
Mine just arrived! I can confirm these ARE 4TB units! Thank you OP, very happy
Drives inside are Samsung HD204UI

Wow, not seen a "new" Samsung-branded one of those for a while!

Buddy had his delivered today. Says the base of the Iomega-branded box has a manu or packed date of 2011 ! Where have these been stashed for so long? Box says "3 years warranty with registration." I suspect registration may be difficult to achieve considering Iomega was completely absorbed into the Lenovo brand by circa 2013; it may be beneficial to spend some time confirming warranty duration now rather than two years down the line.

Apparently no need to register to obtain "base warranty," although not clear if the 3 years mentioned on product packaging is the "base warranty" period. And of course at the time of this post, the warranty checker URL on the product's FAQ page is dead

"Your base warranty is automatically active upon purchase and you do not have to register to activate your base warranty.
If the device you have purchased is an Iomega device, please note that Iomega is supported by Lenovo through LenovoEMC, a joint venture between EMC and Lenovo."
