[Some] Amazon Prime customers only : New Fire 7" tablet for £39.99 with PRIMENOW10

Certainly not a deal for everyone but might help someone.

The new Fire 7 inch tablet is now on Prime Now and if you're in the delivery zone and have not already used your PRIMENOW10 voucher, you can get this delivered for a very attractive 39.99.

Note: The shortcut for the deal goes to the Prime Now app link on Google Play, not the Amazon store. That's because you need to order the item through the Prime Now app (and because I run Android and not iOS or FireOS on my primary device).

PRIMENOW10 code can be used once per account, I believe.
I know there were some codes offering 20 off 50 spend but I didn't try these. Maybe you can get a better deal by bumping the overall order value and using one if any are still valid?

I can't see this tablet on Prime Now...

Search for "Fire" and scrolll down. There is no image but keep an eye out for the price and description.
It's there for me, anyway.

According to Which, this tablet is pretty ropey. The processor is underpowered, so there is noticeable delay in loading things - and even when scrolling.
A typical Android tablet in that regard.

Rubbish typical android comment from crApple fanboi.

Yes the cpu isn't the best but it's a CHEAP TABLET ffs do you expect it to compete with a tablet that costs 10x the price?

Look it's a cheap tablet it's not going to be perfect BUT it'll be better than a lot of other cheap Chinese crap being sold at this price point. For basic browsing, email, Facebook & light gaming there is NOTHING wrong with it at all. I like Which but they were completely ott on slagging this off when in the next breath they were drooling over an ipad (facepalm)!

If you want a super smooth, top spec tablet pony up the money & buy one, if you want a "disposable" tablet for kids then this is hard to argue against tbh and you know you're going to get great support from Amazon.

Proprietary/hobbled OS - tick
Painfully small storage (8GB) - tick
Disingenuous advertising about the 'power' of this tablet- tick

I don't own an iPad. I do own a Hudl 2. The Hudl is a MUCH better alternative to this.
It's tablets like this that put people off ever using Android tablets. Buy cheap, buy twice!

recently bought one of these for my lad for Xmas from argos/ebay for £39.99...

I've had a little play and I think it's a great little tablet.

Certainly perfect for my 9 yr old Christmas gift.

I get that its cheap, but if the tablet is a frustrating experience than its no point shelling out for it. Its not a case of apple fanboy, its a simple fact of usability isnt it?
I had one of these from Flubit and it was rubbish, had slow response, grainy video, painful fuzzy text and a dead pixel

I had no choice but to return it

If I remember correctly, the last Which review I read of tablets had them giving Samsung top honours, not Apple, and they break the reviews down by price to make fair comparrisons. I'm tempted to pop along to my local reference library and look at the back editions but I doubt Edinburgh is included in the area?

Your argument kind of falls down given the ACTUAL user experience of other people on this thread.

The cost is irrelevant. This is a poor tablet.
So long as I can link it up to a stereo and play records from Amazon, Deezer or any service for that matter, I'm not overly concerned. An odd bit of reading on Kindle and or Google books and I'm away...
I don't qualify for Prime Now, but consider a tenner difference a small amount to pay for not living in Lundun... Heheh!

I guess this going cold could be down to sour grapes at the deal not being widely available! Ho-hum.

I think you must have missed the bit about this tablet having an under-powered processor, a propriety (/hobbled) operating system, and laughably small storage!

I didn't miss the forty bloomin' quid bit though!
I have a hudl 2...my only concern with this tablet is the physical screen dimensions... It's similar to a cheap Chinese tablet I had, it's very narrow... Fine if that doesn't bother you but I found it annoying

tbf there are 2 actual users in the thread (other than which), one said was great one said was crap (and had a faulty one)
the hudl you recommend is 150% more expensive than this so irrelevant

There is only one user on this thread that has used the tablet for an extended period;

"I had one of these from Flubit and it was rubbish, had slow response, grainy video, painful fuzzy text and a dead pixel

I had no choice but to return it"

Add that review to the strong 'do not buy' advice from Which (for the very same reasons), and you start to see why £40 is bad value.

The best job this tablet will serve is as a trade-in device for a HP computer in years to come. Until that day, it'll likely move swiftly from being in use, to in a drawer!

I dare say we've all made product recommendations from time to time without actually having owned or used a product. We tend to do so on the basis of prior experience with a brand.

I personally wouldn't have expected Amazon to release something with such poor specs. This is Android after all - it neeeeds decent specs to perform correctly.

Do as you please on this one. But I personally would never buy such a tablet. I would rather save up the money for something that will actually be enjoyable to use. If you buy something poor at £40, then that really doesn't count as being good value!
