Somerfield stores will be converted to the Co-operative format on a phased basis over the next two years. Announcements regarding individual stores will be made to customers through in-store advertising at the appropriate time.

Ergo the OP's local Somerfield is one of the first to re-brand.

So you could well expect similar offers at your local as and when they re-brand, but as it stands this deal's probably only valid at the OP's local store.

It will become less likely such offers will exist during this re-branding period as Somerfield branded items are increasingly being replaced by their Co-Op counterparts.

The good news for those shoppers who like those 'Savings Cards' Somerfield do is that local stores will keep offering Somerfield tokens until they rebrand, after which the savings card will still be valid in ex-Somerfield store.

This clearly isnt every store changing at this time as their website is still running and they are still advertising the somerfield brand on tv also the store near me was still open and looking like business as usual today so might be useful if the actual store concerned was listed

Co-Op had to sell some of the stores to meet competition guidelines, your local will have been one of them.

The Somerfield store in Honiton closed and reopened as Budgens with very little fuss.

The Somerfield store in Headington, Oxford is converting to Waitrose. Not sure if it's having a closing-down sale any time, though.

downend

Store in my village is closing at the end of April and re-opening as a Waitrose. Was in there on Saturday and some stuff had 25% - 50% off, I guess these saving are going to get bigger the closer we get to the end of the month.
