Trouble is you can probably recycle that packaging even less than a plastic bottle (certainly in our area!)

I agree, but sometimes when you 'have' to buy water, this is a better option than in a plastic bottle
Agreed. If that packaging actually IS better...

Recycling is not just about the consumer being able to send the packaging somewhere! Its about what they do to the packaging. And its clear that recycling paper/cardboard is much easier and it is also biodegradable. If they were filling the same plastic bottles again, I would say yes to plastic!

I just try to buy glass now. But it's way more expensive

But if that glass bottle is not being re-filled, the whole purpose of buying a glass bottle is being wasted. Breaking the bottles and making more glass bottles with that glass is not really recycling, considering that the process is so harmful that most of the commercial glass bottle making has been long shifted out of EU to Asian countries.
Use a tap.
This is the UK. It's potable water.
That people pay for bottles etc of water blows my mind.
In 2018, TetraPak's global recycling rate was 26 percent...

TetraPak contains ~20% polyethylene

Thank you for sharing, but still better for the environment to reuse the same bottle. I asked to have mine filled at the railway station, only last week. The lady ran into he tap to get it really cold, dried my bottle and smiled warmly. That easy. And no guilt re pollution.
Try to use Tap, but if you have to buy some in an emergency, try Tesco's at 17p for 2L. Comes in a PET recyclable!

Come try my water, awful if it's not double filtered before making a cuppa!
Another vote for the good old tap and a supply of council pop!

People think recycling is the environmental solution, when really we need to rethink how we do things and reduce what we use.

Recycling (if things that are labelled as being recyclable actually are recycled) still uses energy, which predominantly comes from fossil fuels, and the recyclable things will be transported at various stages, probably usong diesel powered lorries spewing out fumes.

We need to stop being lazy and living a convenient life and think about what we're actually doing.

I drank Nepali tap water sterilised with UV for 3 weeks.... it’s moving until you kill the stuff in it (not a joke).
I’m pretty sure I’d drink yours lol
It has a plastic cap.
