Not a huge saving on the beam but the hue mini pack is £78.95 on Amazon
This is cheaper here still with 6 years warranty & Hue starter kit in black & hotukdeals.com/dea…924
Playbar sorry, I was going to get the beam and then watched the Playbar comparison on YouTube. The Playbar blows this away (got one now & it's superb).
Good deal on the Beam though.

Have you bought the sub. I didn’t “need” the sub until I heard it.

No doubt, but is it helpful to suggest to someone considering a £400 soundbar that a £700 soundbar is better?

I listened to both the beam and the playbar before buying, on it's own the playbar is better in terms of sound no doubt. If you're only getting one then playbar, but as I already had 2 sonos ones to pair it with I went for the beam which looks incredible, and got myself a sub as I couldn't not purchase that after a demo... Expensive set up but it looks so good!

Well it is all about looks when it comes to a sound system.

To me the playbar is a bit overkill. I've got if fully set up but have the volume set to a max of about 30% as it's way too loud for a home! Maybe if your neighbours don't mind the noise... The beam sounds really good too but I don't have that one set up with rears, imagine it would be perfect for most houses
Playbar is great and kills it with an additional pair for surround, but it is massive and loud enough to fill the whole house (also consider Playbase which can fit better on a stand). Beam a decent option for a smaller space, but I might wait for an ebay code or something, even as a Hue devotee.
Playbar doesn’t support hdmi arc, though. The beam is really good for a small soundbar. Got it paired with 2 play1’s and the sub. Truplay tuning is a must, difference is night and day

£400-500 on eBay/marketplace for a near new one
RRP but you get a mini Hue kit that's been on offer all month. Not sure it's that worth it unless you really want Hue and don't have any yet.
