Bought this last week for £349 and so far I think it's a really great piece of kit, not for everyone but awesome sound and you can Move (sorry) it anywhere you want like in the back garden or while doing some DIY etc.

”There’s a reason Sonos is so dominant in this sector.”’What Hi-Fi?’ 2019 award-winner.

Built for the great outdoors
This is the product so many of us have long been waiting for – a Sonos speaker that’s not only portable but also built for the great outdoors. Featuring a long-lasting battery, carry handle, Bluetooth connectivity and IP56 rated weatherproofing, the Sonos Move has everything you need from a portable speaker.

Ideal for harsh indoor environments, too
IP56 rating means that the Move isn’t just tough enough for outdoors, but also harsher environments indoors, too. Designed to stand up to temperature extremes and moisture, this is the perfect Sonos for bathrooms, conservatories, poolrooms and patios.

Long battery life and home charger/dock
With up to 10 hours of battery life, the Move has you covered for everything from a whole day in the garden to an all-night party. Once the juice has run out, simply place on the supplied dock and recharge. If you’re out-and-about, you can also charge with any compatible USB-C charger.

Class-leading Sonos sound
If you’ve already got Sonos equipment you already know just how good they sound. If you haven’t, then you’re in for a treat. Smooth, spacious and well-balanced, Sonos sounds just as good whether you’re listening to drum n’ bass, rock and pop or full-scale symphonic Classical music.

A bass boost for the life al fresco
Knowing that this speaker is highly likely to be used outside, Sonos has focused on providing the bass boost that outdoor use requires. With no nearby walls or ceilings to naturally reinforce the bass, true outdoor speakers need a little extra help. For this reason, the Move’s powerful woofer is tuned to compensate for this, delivering the bass you expect, even when outside.

The TRUEPLAY revolution - giving you tailored sound
Helping further to get the best sound, wherever you are, the Move features revolutionary TRUEPLAY technology. TRUEPLAY scans the surroundings, analyses the results and then fine-tunes the speaker for the ideal listening experience. Whether you’re indoors or out, the Move adapts to give the most natural and realistic sound possible.

Pair for stereo sound
Just like other Sonos models, the Sonos Move can be paired up for stereo sound. Link two* using the Sonos app and you’ve instant, immersive stereo sound. *Note, pairing only works via wi-fi and so requires being within range of a wi-fi hub.

Voice control over wi-fi
When you’ve got the Move connected via wi-fi, it also doubles as a voice-controlled speaker. Compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, you can play music, check news, set alarms and get your questions answered, all by simple voice command.

With Apple AirPlay 2 for seamless streaming from your Apple device
With AirPlay, stream directly from your Apple devices or ask Siri to play your favourites from Apple Music throughout your home. (Requires wi-fi for AirPlay operation).

Control any way you want
Sonos Move seamlessly syncs voice, app, and touch commands, enabling you to manage music with a single word, tap of the app, or swipe on the speaker touch panel. Combine voice control with the Sonos app to manage all your music in one place.

The great sound of Sonos now available in the great outdoors. This Sonos moves the game on.

I hate how no remote comes with their devices. What if my phone is low or …I hate how no remote comes with their devices. What if my phone is low or I haven't jumped on the smart phone cart? Yes I actually know someone in 2020 that hasn't! I then have to buy a tablet or smartphone if I want to control the Playbase or playbar.

I think the scenario of no smart phone simply means Sonos isn't the right system for their needs.

Sonos are clearly struggling to get these 'moving' as quickly as they would like. Historically, Sonos discounts were hard to comeby for established products let alone those just released.

Its a hot price currently, but, given it was available for £314 before Christmas, my target is less than that.

I don't think this product is aimed at people so far behind like that technologically. It's like buying a smartwatch and then complaining it doesn't do much with your old Nokia. These are designed from the ground up to integrate with smart devices.

Point I'm making is you have to spend a lot to interact with it if you don't own a device - they could have at least provided a controller.

Smart TVs now have full control over your phone and tablet but still provide controllers for their TVs

As I said, these are designed from the ground up to work with smart devices, TVs are not. TVs are designed as standalone devices first and foremost.

You're misunderstanding who the product is aimed at.

Your not thinking but buying into it blindly. You lose WiFi then how do you interact with it? Your phone's low on juice or dead, then what do you do?

This is at best semi smart

Not at all - a watch is also a standalone product but is enhanced when paired with the phone

They couldn't provide a remote with their devices? This is a sound system end of day and is also a standalone device technically

Again, you're completely missing the point. They are not designed to be standalone devices. They're designed from the ground up to be integrated with other systems.

You wouldn't buy a PC Monitor and complain that it doesn't have anything to display and doesn't come with a remote. It's not a standalone device.
I'm talking abt basic interaction with the device - you're talking about purpose of existence
So over priced......150quid and I'll bite.....and I'll keep on dreaming

JBL Link 10 has been as low as 75 and does the exact same job.

This has Alexa so just tell it what to play or to turn the volume up/down. You only need a phone/tablet for the initial setup
I fail to see how a remote would help, you still need a device to send the music to a Sonos speaker.

And how that controller should look like? To provide decent experience. I just think that it may get too similar e.g. fire 7/8 or a general smart phone

Soz not being difficult but after the Alexa & Google assistant articles I don't use them

OK, ok I may be coming across as difficult...I see that

All I want is a damn remote control and headphone jack - is that too much to ask?

I may have to make Back To The Future remake for the 90s...

Connected to my TV for movies and gaming - don't bother with music as it will turn into a tit for tat war with my neighbours who can play the loudest; they've got speakers taller than Tyson Fury...

You want a standard dumb remote for Sonos?
I made a similar mistake with Logitech Harmony and simple remote. Experience is far from good. Not comparable with what you get on a phone or tablet.
I also was thinking about remote for my Sonos system, but cannot imagine anything as user friendly as phone or a tablet. (and for very basic controls it is easier to use Alexa or Symfonisk remote from IKEA.

And there was no need for rudeness.

I understand where you are coming from, basically you need an old school stereo.
I don’t get why you are commenting on an item like this when it is nothing like you want need.... you say you want a speaker for movies or gaming, the is a portable smart speaker. You’d be better off looking at basic home surround systems.

Got 2 full 5.1 setups - that's 4 X play ones V2, 2 subs and 2 playbases V2

They're not worth the money compared to traditional setups period

You could always use a computer.
I'm a Sonos fan. I've a play 1, a 5 and a connect. I was searching for something for the bathroom prior to release of the Move and bought a speaker an Echo dot clipped in to. When the Move was released i thought happy days until i saw the price. In my opinion it's way overpriced for what it is. Oh the portable speaker I bought sounds great even if waiting for it to boot up can be annoying sometimes.. Majority Hobson - Compatible with Echo Dot (Gen 1 and 2) - 360 Speaker
